Media Create Sales: Week 35, 2016 (Aug 29 - Sep 04)

Splatoon still selling couple thousand copies a week is impressive. I wonder how much it'll have sold by the end.

The game feels like Yokai Watch crossed with the second part of Bravely Default. Just meh.
Interesting. Is that your opinion or the overall sentiment in Japan? Because the game IS selling well and showing legs too.

And I have yet to see all the "bomba bins" you guys are speaking of. Only one pic was randomly posted and Amazon is still selling YW3 at regular price.

An expected price drop with the right software and the PS4 Slim should help those PS4 numbers soon enough. How long will they last is the real question?

PS4 will surpass the Wii U LTD with the Slim release, maybe?

I'd have normally said yes, but with the Neo on the horizon maybe not. Some of the people who jump at new console iterations are probably going to wait for the Neo. Slim sales will be interesting.

Both. The game ISN'T selling well in relation to YW2/Shinuchi. And I never said bomba bins. I am speaking of 1,000 yen+ discounts.

3DS should surpass the 1 million YtD within end of September. 22 millions LtD seems a lock within the end of the year, right?

Other significant milestone happening within the end of the year?
Isn't 3DS already past 1m ytd if you include 2DS?

Lol, do they even stock the XB1S in Japan? I would imagine the design would be right up the Japanese's alley.

Ouch, KOF. The Witcher 3 doing work and that's a re-release. Yokai Watch 3 champion as always.

Sure, it's not matching the huge success of past entries, but that's because Yo-kai Watch is past its peak. It happens to every franchise.

The fact is: it sold 20k for another week, and it has already sold 1.2 million copies. Is that not selling well?

And isn't 20% off the norm in Japan? I know that Amazon always offers 20% discounts.

Why? People burned by ToZ were waiting for impressions. The impression is positive (from what I heard), hence good leg.

It's probably that but even then fact is that it has much better legs than the three previous entries on PS3.

It now has a chance to reach Zestiria's PS3 numbers which would make it one of the first IP releasing on PS4 matching its previous entry on PS3.

Now Berseria was PS4/PS3 and Zestiria was a late PS3 release and was a big decline compared to Xillia 2 which was itself a big decline compared to Xillia, but it's safe to say the Tales IP should be able to maintain itself in the 300-400k range in Japan and with worldwide sales should still be a viable product for at least the 5 coming years.

YW2/Shinuchi wouldn't have been so heavily discounted heading into its opening holiday.

I...don't know? Do we know possible shipments of the Pokèmon themed 2SD?
I forgot that Nintendo will launch 5 new colors of the 2DS in Japan later this year: I'd say that 2 millions YtD is totally doable. it is not that strange for the 3DS family to sell in the last three months of the year the same amount of consoles sold in the previous 9 months, right?

To be fair, Yo-kai Watch 3 had discounts during Obon Week (from Aug 10-17). After that, the game returned at its original price at most of retailers. There're still around 100k units left to be sold, but I doubt retailers will drop the price again, and will patiently wait until all copies are sold.

We know.

Page 7, check Nintendo 2DS for Japan. 100k shipped in total, 0 units shipped during Apr-Jun quarter because it was a limited edition just sold during February and March. Since the console is not being sold at any store anymore, we can assume that 99% has been sold through.

09./14. [3DS] Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2014.11.21} (¥4.571) - 6.668 / 2.884.841 (-4%)

Looks like it's reaching 2 900 000 units before the end of the month.

3m LTD is definitely a lock, though most likely not this year (depends on the kind of impact Pokémon SM has on the game).

Is this the closest PS4 has been to X1 since launch?

I think XB1 outsold PS4 in its launch week in late 2014. Might be wrong though.

Edit: Yup. XB1 launched with 25k while PS4 was bombing at ~5k a week. Since then this is the closest though.

You forgot that the double pack is counted separately by MC, and the LTD numbers are 98,101 units.
Check MC Top 1000 2014

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that bundle. I really wish they're not going to count the Pokémon SM bundle separately, but they're so going to do it again...

Thanks for the (umpteenth) reminder.

Thread's not even 100 posts long.

There's plenty of posts explaining PS4 stock already.
Why does everyone keep asking?

Great, thank you!
So 1 million YtD already passed. 2 million within the end of the year is feasible.

Man, I hope the PS4 Slim can bring the PS4 back....Unless this is all part of sony master plan!

It is pretty normal to see such horrible numbers right before a revision is released. It will be easily back ot its previous weekly base, overcoming the 3Ds during some week.

The week over week percentages tell the real story.

PS4: Down ~70%.
XB1: Up ~150%.

If we project this out a few more weeks, it's pretty clear who is going to win this generation.

Is that the sound of the dragon waking up I can hear coming from Japan?!

***

On a totally unrelated note, 3DS needs to sell ~877 843 units within the next 17 weeks to reach 22m this year. So 51 637 units / week, on average.

Makes sense but it does suck. The design that would sit well with Japanese gamers isn't available in Japan. I don't want to be a douche, but I don't think Japan is getting Scorpio as well.

no, judging from m$ japan page, Scorpio is planned to be released here
meanwhile I checked it again but I was not able to find the page dedicated to Scorpio as I did around a month ago

let's see if 2ds + sun/moon release + December holiday can make that happen

It still seems really strange. Did a similar drop percentage-wise happen for all slim/lite/i releases? I know Japanese retailers don't have much protection from stock that is hard to move like the Us does, but this seems overboard.
