Nope, never. I frequent too many GIF/image-heavy threads

And regarding those GIF/image-heavy threads, check this out. It's a very useful GAFfer-made extension

Holy shit, this is amazing. It loads 50mb gifs in an instant due to the video conversion. Everyone go grab this.

Just done it - it's changed my life.

Just done it. Page 1 of the indie thread kept killing my bandwidth.

ctrl+f and couldn't find anything, here's a cool looking one I heard about on one of the PAX panels a couple days ago:

Karma. Incarnation 1 (Sept)

This kinda weird is my favorite type of point and click, shades of Neverhood with lack of intelligible dialogue, all the logic being derived from the world's inhabitants and learning the ins and outs of the alien ecology as you progress. Love discovering potential gems like this to find out their release is so near.

There is a Steam page with a demo: http://store.steampowered.com/app/394700

Oh wow, game changer!

plenty of awesome games and a weird one slipped in the middle

Thanks a lot for the mention!! :-D

I can't keep up with all these games :O.

I don't remember if it was talked about but Honey Rose: Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire got a demo some time ago.

It's true! Quite some time ago, in fact, some stuff has been reworked thanks to player feedback from the demo, but it still gives a good idea of what the game is about and how it works. (mainly: plenty of bug fixes, but also the addition of a stamina meter for normal and hard modes which adds another layer of management for battles, and gives MUCH more weight to training DEF and SPD stats. Easy mode is still designed to allow players to cruise through the story, so no stamina to manage there!)

As for where the game currently is: I'm getting the game up and running in Steam (just yesterday got it to start with Steam ok, so I'm linking the achievements, and finalizing the store page and the rest of the backend stuff). After that, I'm going to test it some more just to be sure, and then... release, I guess? I'm not sure, it feels weird to actually be done with it soon :-D

Since the game will use a simili pay-what-you-want model, doing a keys giveaway will have less significance, but I'll still happily hand some to any and all interested! I should be making the first batch of review copies within the week, otherwise the release keys should be towards the end of the month.

And with that... I believe you know everything, or at least, as much as I do :-D

Trucker Sexologist
I had the pleasure of playing Desync at PAX and the game is brilliant. Possibly GOTY material for me. It channels everything I enjoy about fast paced FPSs and adds another layer of depth and flash with the score system. The gameplay is the natural evolution of Bulletstorm and the aesthetics are amazing as well. The great thing is that it's far from a cakewalk. You truly have to earn your kills here and they're very gratifying because of that. And the weapon switching is a perfect fit for my Naga mouse. I'm buying this day one.

Holy shitballs!

Really excited for this one.
Right? I was all set on Event[0] next week, but this has thrown a wrench into my surefire plans

That developer Landfall Games is pretty busy. Besides Clustruck, they're also working on Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and this other cool project ZIZ

Quite a few 'Episode 1' games from smaller devs coming up. I've grown a bit wary of them lately because it feels like devs often either have to cut some major corners in later episodes following lower-than-expected sales or they have to outright cancel them and shut down the studio after the first episode. Or the game is called Kentucky Route Zero and takes forever. ;)

I get the appeal of episodic games for developers and I generally love them when they're done well but often it seems small devs are a bit in over their heads when it comes to making these types of games.

Nonetheless, The Uncertain looks right up my alley, put it on my Steam wishlist which keeps growing and growing arrrgh.

Can't wait for the release!

You and me both!! And now, I finally have a date to share, to know just how much time that'll be... September 30th! Uh, sorry, yeah, that's another September game coming out. Hope it won't be too packed (but honestly, October looks like it's going to be much of the same!).

Either way, here's the game's steampage: http://store.steampowered.com/app/523680

No preorders, since the game will use a "pay-what-you-liked" model everywhere, including on Steam (still can't believe they went for it), meaning the game will be entirely free to access and experience, and you'll only support the game *after* playing it, if you so desire, at the value you estimate your experience to be/have been.

It's very similar to pay-what-you-want, except it aims to give players the most choice as to when and why to support the game, and I'm hoping to offer an alternative to the "wait for sales" game, and most other economical discussions surrounding indie game pricing. We'll see if this is a gigantic mistake or not, but the long and short of it is: if you're interested in the game at all, you won't have any reason not to jump in come September 30th!

Also, a question: because of that model (meaning the game will be free upon release), I don't know what good it'd be to do a keys giveaway here as it wouldn't have the same meaning or value as the usual keys giveaways... but for tradition and comfort's sake, would you all be interested in an indie thread/GAF key giveaway all the same?

This is an interesting model. I think a key giveaway is always welcomed, no matter the price model, I mean, we all like to play and test new games!

That's true, too! Okay then... let me order another batch of keys, and I'll set something up for you ASAP!

EDIT: trying to write down the keys, but I'm looking to make them for members of this thread only... and I can't seem to figure out how :-D Help!

You can use Modbot, or you can just put it in
Code:
[ EMAIL=KEYHERE][/EMAIL]
tags (without the space). That way, only people who quote the post (and you have to be a member to be able to quote posts) can see them.

Ah, fantastic! Thank you very much! Yes, those email tags were what I was looking into but I couldn't figure out how to get them working. Thanks to your example, now I can (hopefully), so... here! Quoting this, you'll find keys for the review build of the game, which is really the version that'll be made public on the 30th, except you can play it right now! If you do take one, please tell me so I can update the message (and my own files) :-D

Also to note: the Steam release is currently windows-only, I'm working to get another solution up and running for Mac and Linux users! I also recommend a hefty amount of RAM - 4GB should do the trick, anything more is gravy, but I'm afraid I can't guarantee it'll work with less. Same with the OS - 64bit is recommended, can work with 32bit, but you're better off assuming 64bit's the way to go!

EDIT : all keys are gone! Thank you very much :-D
