Official Battlefield 1 beta survey, long and detailed

DICE has put up the official Battlefield 1 survey for the beta.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9YFYK3Y

According to Reddit it is a pretty lengthy survey and goes into detail about classes, game modes, weapons, etc..

If you want your old Conquest back or have any comments on vehicle balance this is the place to do it.

Give us old Conquest!

Glad they're doing this, the questions already let me know what they're thinking about. Everyone should fill this out!

I wrote a damn novel on why we need real Conquest back. Also gave this new Conquest a "No Fun At All" rating.

I know nothing will come of it, but I did my part. Will buy regardless because Battlefield has been my shooter of choice since 2002.

I did the same haha. I want the old CQ back.

The survey described how the artillery strikes were supposed to function but I don't think I ever saw them actually work?

What are medals? I never saw that part of the game at all.

I think this game is cool, but there are way too many automatic and semi automatic guns. Semi automatic rifles were barely a thing in WWII

I found the game really good. My only issues with it was the too powerful scoped automatic rifle the medic class would get as the late unlock. The assault classes limit to close combat and the lacking of AT weapons for all other classes than the assault class and finally the tradeoff for a scoped rifle seemed to few for the scout class.

All in all i had a really good time playing the game.

For the last, open question, I answered this:

"If you want this game be better, make it feel more like Bad Company 2, because Bad Company 2 is still Dice's best game, and one of the best shooters I have ever played."

I also said the map was terrible and that infantry should be able to take out tanks more easily, such as having dynamite being able to be thrown farther.

I recommended they remove the Scout class and included this image

"I understood that artillery targets only spotted enemies. "

Well, shit. I didn't know that, guess that explains why I thought they were pointless.

This conquest is way better than the old one. Don't fuck this up.

LOL NO it isn't. Conquest rules should be BC1's. No uncaps, all flags taken? Round ends in 5 seconds flat. None of this camping or kills don't matter shit.

The fact that the scout class is the only one with bolt action rifles is a disgrace. I played primarily with an unscoped bolt action (G. 95) and still got shit for being a scout.

Dude, I completely agree. I wish assault had a bolt action. Way too many automatics.

question 20 is key to whether or not they change conquest I think

20. Based on the Beta you played, do you think Kills affect the number of tickets a team has?

Everyone vote NO!!

21 is key as well

Finished. Main points were that I wanted more bolt action options, and that the train was basically useless for turning around matches.

Also there were a couple features I was completely unaware of that the game did not make clear.

Not every map should be Double Assault, either. Actually, one of the big issues with this Domination-in-all-but-name mode is that we would never see any Conquest: Assault map designs, since they would not hardly work well with the new ruleset.

I can see how someone in their haste could misread the question as "Do you think kills should affect the number of tickets a team has?" and vote yes.

Very nice!
For the map question, I asked Bad Company 2 style rush maps would be nice.
I also said that Bf1 rush was bad, because converting full conquest map to rush mode doesn't work well.

I put in capital letters everywhere it applied to FIX THE GODDAMN PLANE CONTROLS FOR MOUSE USERS. Warthunder does it perfectly. I shouldn't have to slap my mouse around repeatedly to turn a plane.

That and the self repair on the tanks. wtf were they thinking....

I'm conflicted about the new Conquest mechanics.

On the one hand, something that promotes *actually taking points* over just racking up kills is great.

On the other hand, it feels weird.

I don't understand. What's different about conquest in this compared to previous editions?
In previous battlefields in conquest each team had a number of tickets which corresponded to respawns. If you held a majority of flags the enemy tickets would drain, and a bigger majority led to faster draining. Dying also would cost your team a ticket, but if you were revived it would not.

This new conquest I'm not entirely sure, but it appears to instead work on a system where each flag gives you a point after a certain amount of time passes and the first team to reach the score limit wins.

I have explained this so many times its actually getting tiring, but I will do it again. Any Battlefield Vet knew the changed as soon as the game started up. Its that obvious.

In the new Conquest.

Each team gets points continually ticking up. The team with the most flags gets the points faster than the team with fewer flags. There are no tickets in this new Conquest, its just a Domination styles score system. Kills do not count, making medics utterly worthless. I was not wanting to be revived so I could just spawn where I wanted. Since there are no tickets, reviving does nothing in the grand scheme of the game. Its much harder to have comebacks due to both teams getting points at all times.

Old Conquest.

When one team has majority of flags, the team with fewer flags will bleed tickets while the team with most flags do not lose tickets. The team holding the most flags only loses tickets if someone dies and isn't revived by medic.

This caused great back and forth matches, as the losing team can make epic comebacks by gaining control of the flags and bleeding the winning team's tickets. Kills counting allowed for that great feeling of getting a double kill late in the game and knowing the other team just lost 2 tickets.

Kills not counting, no tickets in scoring, and no ticket bleed obviously since there are no tickets = Not Conquest. I like to call this new Conquest, Domination Large.

.

Eh, It's not a problem for me. I'm a huge jet whore though, division 1 in BF4 so maybe it's all just muscle memory to me.

I feel like the Battlefield 1 planes are WAAAY easier to fly than they ever have been, they fly slower and smoother so you have more time to "slap your mouse around". I just pick up the mouse a little bit and flick it in the appropriate direction. No need to do big hand movements, just keep the mouse in the same spot.

If you want to know true hell, try to fly the tie fighters/x wings in the PC battlefront...now THOSE are truly terrible mouse and keyboard flight controls, battlefield 1 flies like a dream.

After playing it I KNEW something was messed up with the tickets.

Didn't pay much mind to it but yea fuck this system.

I asked for modes/modifiers regarding automatic weapons, Elite Classes and Vehicles.

Yes, I want an infantry-only, No Elite Classes, vehicles, semi or single-shot only server that I could play on. I would fucking LOVE it if at all possible.

I'm still excited for the game with all of that in, but c'mon DICE, indulge me!

Also yea, I wasn't aware that they changed the rules for Conquest. Tickets aren't based on player lives anymore, it's based on how long you hold the points.

I made the suggestion that all classes should have access to a bolt action or two (Just limit their optics). Like others have said the main reason I went scout was due to the scopeless bolt action rifle and wanting to be more fitting in the era. I would have gladly played a more helpful class had they had access to something similar. Hopefully they listen. Seems to be a common complaint!

I played most of the open beta as Medic, and used the default rifle that class had. I thought the default Medic kit was super sound actually. Made good use of the bayonet, rifle, pistol, bandages and syringe.

I put emphasis on them not giving in to people wanting the gunplay to devolve into BF3/4 territory. That would be such a bummer.

Hoping we get the old CQ rules back.

I told them this conquest is fine and they should also have a more classic conquest in addition

also I forgot to mention how quiet footsteps are :(
