ReCore uses "sandwich time" tech once you die (edit: or not?)

you can watch any gameplay vid you want. none of them replicates this guy's two minute loading times. they're all sub 1 min.

See this is what I'm getting at. Actual evidence vs. wishy washy "Oh, his HD might be sub optimal" bullshit.

You can't just say a person's experience is an outlier until you show it's an outlier.

Nearly everybody who's chipped in + gameplay walkthroughs I've seen on YouTube have been 30-40 second reloads

I haven't seen a single 2 minute load screen outside of this user

Saying this as someone's who's been compiling Recore videos and info constantly

Gameplays I've been watching say that's not true.
Longer loading times than desirable maybe, but not even close to 2 min.
Just something like 20-30 seconds.

From watching the stream of Recore I don't see that 2 minutes...but I do see the 30-40 seconds...granted dying doesn't happen often (regenerative health).

Well if that is true then something needs to be said/done because the longer this is up the more damage is being done to their rep over a stupid guy on twitter who faked info... :/

I think it'd be fair to say that if this can't be replicated by others then a mod should be PM'd about making changes to the title or a lock or something.

Pretend I'm dumb. Explain it to me.
I'm not making assumptions on what this guy's actual situation is. Nor was I saying that the context I presented was the actual context. I was just providing a single context where it could happen because you asked for one. Making assumptions without actually making knowing the context is the exact issue I have a problem with. The assumptions in this thread being "this will happen for everyone", "this game is bad because of this", and others.

I don't really think any damage is being done besides in this thread. Technically the game hasn't released so if people should be pissed hat an unreleased game has a bug the. Go for it. The only people that need to worry about it are the reviewers since they have the early copies

Remember the, "You've been playing too long, please take a break" messages? They just skipped the message and built a break in for everyone!

LOL it took me 10 posts to figure out what sandwich time is.

Initially reading the title, I thought it was some kind of "When you die, the world speeds up for a period of time until you respawn". (Imagine a robot simulator where you're rebuilt every 500 years, and can do whatever, but when you die, time speeds up to the next rebuild moment, with the world changing in the meantime.)

Then I saw the video and realized that it was more like Willy Beamish Sega CD "sandwich time" tech.

Yeah, but it's still misinformation if that guy on twitter is making this up which seems like is what happened.

That can definitely have an impact, plus GAF is a pretty big site that gets quoted quite a lot from some of the big gaming sites.

I don't know how well it would be received but it would be nice if the devs said something about it.

Though you are right they could just wait till reviews are out. At least people would pre order less lol.

Ok just tested.
29 seconds
33 seconds
32 seconds

So far which matches all my previous playtime in the past.

Using a external 7200rpm hyrbid and will test on the internal and another external later.

I'll also do some tests from another sample vid , keep in mind the user in the OP is saying he's getting 2 minute loading times on every loading screen

Loading screen 1: 42 seconds
Loading screen 2: 40 seconds
Loading screen 3: 46 seconds

I also dont see any 2 minute loading times in this video or this video or this video or this video which all have similar loading times

Nearly all evidence points towards ~40 second loading screens, not 2 minutes.

This isnt exactly speedy, but its a far cry from what this user is apparently having

I thought the Namco patent had expired and they had a playable version of Burger Time called Sandwich Time you could play on the loading screen when you die.

Boy was I disappointed.

I played this at PAX last weekend. Demo was very laggy, dropped frames constantly, and eventually just outright crashed before the end of the demo.

This belief really needs to die. There are Unity games that run flawless on consoles, it just takes effort is all. Assault Android Cactus is a perfect example.
Ori and the Blind Forest performs very well too. And INSIDE performs absolutely flawlessly on XB1 and PS4 too.

Holy shit, is it loading a sequel or what the fuck?

I don't know how loading works, but I hate games that take 5 seconds to load after dead, like "you piece of shit I died in this stage, you already have it loaded, just move me to the starting point "

That's why I think it's more of an outlier than anything (and from what I watched as well...basically like 2hrs of gameplay). 40 seconds is still long (imo) but nothing that's gamebreaking imo. He may have just found a bug or he faked it...I hope it's the former cuz if it's the ladder, that would be really uncool and another level of fanboyness.

OP should add this to it, the OP.
Clearly something is wrong with this twitter guy.

I don't get how some people can find 30-40 second load times acceptable when last gen load times that long were enough to destroy a game.

I wish people wouldn't lower the bar on stuff like this. It's simply unacceptable to have load times that long.

I think Destiny made people get used to it, I dunno

Tons of games last gen had long load times. Skyrim, Uncharted 2 (from level select) or in Multiplayer, Gran Turismo 5, Deus Ex HR, MGS4, etc.

No one is saying that those load times are optimal at all.

What we are saying is that it is not 2 minutes. That is looking more and more likely to be misinformation.

30 - 40 seconds is a huge difference to 2 minutes...

I'm pretty confident I could have a shit, wipe, wash my hands and be back in front of the TV within that loading time.

honestly 40 second is a lot too, that shit shouldn't be acceptable. obvs there's something off with the OP's console but still

it's not sandwich long but honest, the console makers should add it to the cert requirements, period
