ReCore ReView thread

Did someone get out of the wrong side of bed this morning?

I think it's probably more that some people don't think the big bad F word is that big a deal.

Back on track though, this can't be that good for Armature. The one time they got to do their own thing it turned out to be junk. They're probably back to porting for the foreseeable future. Then again, maybe that's where their strength lies seeing as this game seems like a retread of some of the worse gaming tropes of PS2 gen.

I'd have to agree If One is the worst and 10 is the best. That would actually make Five the middle ground Average. At least that's how I look at a 1 to 10 scale.

Average score in the scale (geometric mean) and average score that is given to games isn't the same thing. The average score in the scale is pretty much meaningless if the average game has a different score than that. If the mean of the distribution of game scores is near 75/100, that's what the average game is, and a game that gets a 5 is below average.

The range of scores is completely arbitrary and unimportant - it's the distribution of scores that matters.

Are you in the US? Have they changed rating scale since I've been to school?

It was always like this for me up til high school:

65-73 = D
74-82 = C
83-91 = B
92-100 = A

This is how it was for me for some part of my education. When I was much younger it was 100-90 A, 89-80 B, 79-70 C, 69-60 D and everything else was F. But I think I spent more time with a grading system similar to what you wrote

Besides getting extra attention because it's 'exclusive', I had no idea why people were looking forward to this game.
I don't know about other people, but to me, the game was one of a small handful which actually looked interesting to me aesthetically and gameplay-wise across all games revealed at both recent E3s.

The exclusivity is a deterrent.

*I see it is different now on wikipedia.

That's a modified 7 point scale. Most universities use a 10 point scale, Which honestly is easier. There's no reason to graduate college with less than a 2.5 GPA. That allows for a hell of a lot of Cs, a few Ds and even some Fs. But yeah this doesn't work for games.

Again, the people that said "Zelda" in previews I think mainly were talking about how the world was laid out with dungeons and such.

Not surprised in the least. Everything I've seen from the game made it look like a mediocre and janky experience. Not saying you can't have fun with it though. NieR, one of my favourite games of last gen has a metascore of 68.

Bomb?

Not surprise based in previews.

FFXV looks to be going in the same path... hope I'm wrong in this one.

Hot tip:

If the middle value is where you want to put your dumb re-definition of the concept of an average, it would actually be 5.5 on a 1 to 10 scale.

But maybe we are redefining arithmethic too?

Why would you want to buy games that are exactly halfway between the worst possible and best possible? Wouldn't companies on average produce something higher than that?

The reveal trailer I thought was promising but since this years E3 reveal of gameplay...yeah...I expected a little better

I always find it funny how people latch onto 1 or 2 people's thoughts and project it k to everybody's thoughts of the game. 1 person(hip hop gamer I believe) said QB was the Cbox TLOU. Nobody else claimed that and not even somebody from a major outlet but yet here we are

It took me a second to realize that you just missed the X and pressed C. I was racking my brain to figure out what the CBox was.

Did any review point out the length of the gameplay or replayability??

I don't know about replayability but I've heard over 10 hours.

Yikes. Can't say I didn't see those scores coming though, the gameplay videos looked bad. The initial reveal had me hyped, so did QB but they didn't match what i expected.

This game always looked slightly above average and I'am glad Microsoft priced it accordingly. I will wait until it goes below $20 to pick it up.

Has nothing to do with if I'd buy the game or not. That's just how I've always interpreted a 1 to 10 scale. The whole anything under a 8 is bad mentality I just don't agree with.

Too bad for the low scores. Lot of low scores with the reviewer saying the game is still fun. Must be one of those games.

I think at this point we can say that whatever talent was behind Metroid Prime, Armiture didn't get it.
This has been said for a while now but people kept refusing to acknowledge it. The success of the Metroid Prime series (1 to 3) wasn't solely due to the people that left to form this company. The quality of Prime 3 and the DKC series proved that. Retro kept its talent when those guys were fired.
