Operation Rainfall:
VisualArts Co. recently unveiled CLANNAD English Edition for the PS Vita at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. This is just a demo for now though.

No word yet on a release date, but we’ll keep you updated.

Didn't we already know about Clannad? Or is this a special version for Asia? I'm confused

There was some confusion over whether or not the Vita version would actually be playable in English. A Gematsu commentator seemed adamant that the booth would be devoted to the Vita version, but the English version would only be playable on PC. I thought that would be a weird thing to do, and now we know that's not the case.

This thread certainly has been something else the past couple of days hasn't it?
Regarding the digimon fiasco I honestly didn't think a screw up in PR would be possible yet here we are.

This is the Vita thread. People have been worried about its future since the day it was announced on January 27, 2011, and we will be worried about it until the day it dies on January 19, 2038.

I come home after a long (but enjoyable) day at college and learn that Bamco pulled there own typo XD! Amazing :'). Happy the game is coming to Vita and I honestly expected it too originally before the announcement happened. Shame we had a few hours of annoyance but at least we know know that the game is coming to Vita and we have an option to get New Order on that.

Oh I'm well aware of that it just seemed more so than usual lately. Regardless I'll keep enjoy this zombie system well after support for it is pulled

This level of incompetence is astonishing:

Editor’s Note #2: Bandai Namco sent Gematsu an “updated correction”—a correction of its previous correction—at 9:52 p.m. backpedaling its PS Vita announcement. According to the new press release, the game will be available “exclusively for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system in both digital and boxed-retail versions.

This level of incompetence is astonishing:

I JUST posted a news post on 3wirel saying the damn game is coming to Vita X(. Ugh....make up your fucking minds Bandai-Namco :l.

I get it if they don't want to release it on Vita but this is just dumb. Another typo 0 situation for sure and I don't like it. Will have NO issue ignoring this game for sure now.

Screw it, every game you want is coming to the Vita. Yes, even that one.

I have never seen an update to a correction to a PR statement in any medium, let alone video games.

I'd say it's worse. The PS Blog mistake was on Sony and it was clear why SE didn't want Type-0 HD on Vita. This is entirely on Bandai Namco.

I don't know, that announcement was pretty bad. Possibly the wort Vita game-related one, imo. Between the crappy PS conference, all the Vita port petitions for it, Shahid going "#jrpgvita Believe" and Type-0 being a portable game to begin with, that announcement was a pretty harsh blow to all Vita fans.

I uploaded the Uppers OST (from the first print edition) if anyone's interested.

I'm posting here seeing as this is the closest thing to a Vita thread, and I figured there might be some fans of the game lurking around. It's got some pretty kick ass tunes even if you're not familiar!
(Let me know if this kind of thing is frowned upon.)

I find it concerning that it's only been rated for PS4. Cyber Sleuth, God Eater, etc. were rated for both from the start. They wouldn't start that up again, would they? CS seemed to do really well on Vita in the west ...

Then again, it looks like Brazil didn't rate Gundam Extreme Vs. Force or A.W., so who knows.

i will commit henkaku if the new pr is the typo

Takao has been our Sherpa through this shitstorm of a situation. I should've taken his guidance rather than the complete incompetence of Bamco's PR.

Still, genuinely can't believe we're back to square one.

With Yomawari, Dragon Quest Builders en World of Final Fantasy all coming next month, it might be time to dust off my Vita!

I also think it's worse than Type-0.
Well if Namco is gonna be like this screw them, gonna wait for sales on their games.

Also, really interesting article about the status of ports on Vita:

http://www.pocket-console.com/2016/09/vita-indie-game-update.html

tl;dr:

- Cosmic Star Heroine; Defender's Quest; Forma 8; Shakedown Hawaii; Volgarr & Banner Saga are still on track.
- VA-11 HALL-A is a while off but no problems encountered so far
- YIIK having audio problems but they're being resolved
- Assault Android Cactus sounds on shaky ground but dev is optimistic
- Pixel Noir dev hasn't started on Vita version yet
- Ronin isn't coming to Vita

Game of the year!

It reminds me of the level of jank you'd see in a Net Yaroze game like Adventure Game.

Surprisingly considering how poor quality the game looks, the actual text wasn't a disaster (guess it's because the devs are Canadian).

I seriously want to know how and why the game ended up coming to Vita though. I mean they must've paid for cert and all that (and it must have passed too, lol).

Also, it's times like these that always remind me that Pier Solar isn't coming to Vita because small dev teams can't get Vita kits anymore, lol.

I can't even commit Henkaku since it looks like my Vita updated automatically? lol

How did we get Asterisk War but aren't going to get Digimon N0?

Asterisk War was a weird localization choice, unless maybe the production committee for the anime wanted it released everywhere or something.

Presumably, because one is a niche IP with little appeal and little prospect for expanding which was translated for god knows what reason by Bamco SEA that they decided to stick up on PSN; while the other is a bigger IP with a lot more potential appeal.

Reluctantly, I can see why the situation is such an issue for them, because it's going to be difficult to release a vastly inferior product (Vita version) the same time as the improved PS4 version. It's one thing if it's graphics and what not, but another if it's content.

Why they decided "we can only bring this game west if we add a shit load more compulsory content to the PS4 version!" rather than just bringing the base game to Vita and then adding DLC or whatever to PS4, I do not understand.

So both Shantae games got PS4 ports (with one even having Vita/PS3 trophies) and they are getting PS4 retail releases......but no Vita version.

Okay, that's fine :l. I own a 2DS, so can play both on that but it sucks considering how Half-Genie Hero is releasing on Vita this fall and it would be nice to see the entire series on Vita in some form.

It's alreeady a miracle that HGH is getting a Vita release.

I was waiting for the 3DS version of Shantae Risky's Revenge to get into the series, but holy shit it's taking ages and I wonder if it's still coming. Otherwise fuck it, I'll start with HGH on Vita (IF releases :/ )

look how mad and disappointed they are

Neither the PS4 nor Vita have the full Shantae catalog. Right now one platform does but won't when the latest game misses that platform.

Sega is "thinking positively" about localizing Valkyria: Azure Revolution for territories outside Japan

I'd be slightly more hopeful the Vita version of this one will come across.

Well then. I hope this means Vic has a long future of Vita support ahead of him.

Although I dunno how many more achievable games there are for him on the console. He seems to go for the more 'high profile' stuff if he can.
