Modern Warfare Remastered to be available separately - Director of Raven David Pellas

Seems like the director of Raven Studios slipped up with a recent quote. David Pellas had this to say about the remaining 6 maps that will be added post launch:

What we announced before today was that we were going to offer 10 maps on launch, and that’s still true. The announcement today is that the six remaining maps we are actually going to be delivering to anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, anyone who owns it or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, they’re going to get all 16 of the maps for no additional cost

Given that they are obviously going out of their way not to acknowledge a stand alone version of MW Remastered, this is essentially confirmation of it coming eventually. To specify ownership of 'it' and then separately a 'version of IW that comes with it' is too specific to be misspoken.

Overgrown me if old.

edit: I expect this will be 'clarified' by the powers that be given that it directly contradicts two sections in the MW:Remastered official FAQ:

How can I get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available through the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?
No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

We all knew it would go solo at some point. They just want to push sales of Infinite Warfare with some timed exclusivity. Much like they did with the COD1 port back in the day. At least the slip up will be better for those, who really thought Acti wouldnt.

I thought it was pretty much a given tbh, it just won't be until next year like when they included COD Classic with MW2 initially before releasing later.

According to the article it says all improvements will be free for Modern Warfare players?

So does that mean it could be a free update on PC if you own the original...

Probably not because it's Activision

They keep stressing that the legacy edition gets the other 6 maps for free. Said it all day back at COD XP

So whenever this goes on sale, probably for 30 or 40 bucks you would still have to drop money to get the back 6. So you going to probably spend close to 60.

I'll give it to the summer for them to drop this by itself. Away from the next year cod but in a time to still get attention

Awesome but after seeing MP gameplay I kind of no longer want it. I'm not keen on what they've done with the giant emblems everywhere and whatnot. It doesn't 'seem' like MW anymore, but time shall tell.

I'll gladly pay an extra tenner to play one of my favourite games ever at launch. Special edition content doesnt come out until around may/june and fuck waiting until then.

I'm sure in the PC version you can either disable them or mod them out.

Hopefully the same applies to consoles because otherwise that would suck

The language when they announced those extra maps kind if tipped it off for me. They may cost extra for owners who (hopefully are able to) purchase it separately.

Obvious that this will happen. I would guess after a couple of months or so.

Shame I don't have a console. I would get on PC but as a pad player I don't want to get slaughtered by the KB+M scrubbers!

Maybe I will crack and buy on Neo.

Cancelled my IW preorder just then. Will play Battlefield this year and buy this when it's available standalone.

The question was always when not if.
I can't wait anything more than a week, so I'll have to get the Legacy edition.

The gameplay is exactly the same. Obviously it's going to have the UI features of modern CODs.

That's cool for people that don't want Infinite Warfare, but the story looks good enough to make me want the $80 bundle anyways.

basically saying what a lot of us been stating in the other threads. Activision will put it up after that 80 dollar well runs dry.

I think they'll probably do MW2 first lol. They can get a lot of mileage out of this strategy really just going down the line.

Absolutely, I think that Activision should start doing a new COD every November and a Remake every late Spring / early summer. They could make HHUUUGGGEEE money, going forward. Especially while this video game crash sorts itself out.

I really hope this happens. Infinite Warfare looks about as appealing to me as other recent CoD's; I.E, not very. I would happily buy MW:R on its own though.

Wouldn't buying the game for the DLC alone and then trading it back in be a cheaper alternative than buying it separately?

I do think it'll eventually be separate, but the audio to the interview makes it sound more like this:

"Anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered [comma] or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it [comma] theyre going to get all 16..."

As in: "Anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, or rather a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, theyre going to get all 16..."

I meant packaging a remake/remaster with the new COD each year for a timed amount to bloster sales. What video game crash?

It's awesome that they're doing that for the people who don't want to spend $80+ dollars on it.

That being said, I'm still gonna get Infinite Warfare. It looks really cool.

To be honest whether it's Activision or not, they put a lot of work into the remaster and the devs deserve something too. Giving the game away for free makes no sense.

Somebody is getting fired.

But more seriously: Will the PC port have dedicated servers and a server browser? If not, then the 2007 release is still better value.
