IGN's Peer Schneider: "the NX is a complete reboot for Nintendo"

Most devs are already doing that compared to the PC version (soon ps4 pro and scorpio as well).

If devs can get their game running on a portable device, I would think most would find that pretty awesome despite having to lower the settings.

I suppose. Right now I'm imagining the NX being a gen behind Xbone/PS4 in visuals and it seems like a big leap, but I don't know much about this.

I still find it strange that when he posted that, pretty much everyone took it to mean that it was about on par with Xbone/PS4 at least, and he didn't correct anybody or clarify anything. Maybe that statement is all he was told and he didn't know specifically what it meant himself.

I don't think it will be a gen behind. As I said, the cpu is ahead (if the leaks are correct), and the gpu is ahead in feature set but behind in raw power.

I guess the integrity of any developer who has dev kits is at an all time high. The NDA must have serious repercussions.

This was hinted at several times over the past year.

I'm picturing something akin to a Vita system as powerful as a Wii U. Which would still be impressive for a handheld. I don't think it's any more powerful than that.

So there's a pokemon announcement tomorrow? Will it be a video announcement? If so could they toss in at the end something along the lines of

"stay tuned next week for a big special reveal"

meaning the nx? Is nintendo known to do that? Or am I just pipe dreaming?

If i can play xenoblade x on the go then im sold. Only way i got through xenoblade chronicles 3d was because i could play it whilst travelling. So hopefully some sort of bc for wiiU stuff.

The Pokemon announcements are made by The Pokemon Company, not directly by Nintendo. So no, that won't happen.

They usually upload a Pokémon video on the Pokémon channel. You won't get any NX info from it at all.

On paper sure...in terms of what it will look like on screen, are we expecting Xbone looking games on a handheld? I mean I'd love to believe that. But we don't know how the thing is clocked or what adjustments Nintendo made to it. Some have speculated this being comparable to Shield TV which sure isn't on the same level as current gen consoles to my eyes. It might have a more modern architecture but that doesnt necessarily translate to much better looking games.

I think 720p or lower is a given for ports. But I have no idea what Im talking about either.

But I think the advantage of the cpu and the feature set being better than current consoles is that devs won't have to rewrite their code that much to get near optimal performance.

If the leaks are correct its significantly above Wii U.

I believe you. I've read a lot of the alleged rumors to. Well honestly most of them. But if Nintendo keeps the handheld between $199 to $249. (Just my guess) I don't see how this is significantly more powerful than Wii U. More powerful, yes for sure. As powerful as a portable Xbone, as some rumors have suggested. No way. Not for Nintendo like price points.

I swear we were all saying the same thing as the days ticked by before the Wii U "grand" reveal at E3 2012.

then we learned that nothing was leaking because no one was making anything for a nintendo console.

Maybe Nintendo will never announce what the NX is and we'll all find out on launch day. Sort of like one of those blind boxes you can buy from some places. Crazy marketing geniuses at Nintendo have figured out the perfect way to make people want to buy your product is to never let them know what it is.

Marketing budget: 0$

Sales: 500 million units.

Its genius.

I think we are at a similar situation here. I think projects from first and third party were moved from Wii U and maybe a few 3ds titles to NX. I think back in those old days of the leaked MiiVerse screenshot showing titles in development was true at the time. I think there is a couple of Final Fantasies coming to NX. PROBABLY FFIII REMAKE, AND World of Final Fantasy Vita port, and Dragon Quest Builder port.

I also think there is a Metroid. So that should make some people happy.

Ahh the Burntpork days. Good times.

If NX comes on various forms and shapes, placed in mystery boxes and are has a collectable feature that when you collect all the NX pieces you get the most powerful hybrid of all,
Then it'll be really a reboot

For Western third parties, I mostly agree. I'm surprised Ubi isn't leaking though since I'd be astonished if they only have JD for launch. Perhaps they're the source of some of the main NX leaks, but I'm surprised no fames have leaked. I doubt here's much else from Western devs at launch or in the launch window except from TT, who make the Lego games. As to Japanese third parties, though, I presume established Nintendo partners like Koei, Capcom, Bandai Namco, possibly Square, and others, are working on NX games (and we have the Smash NX rumor from Serkan Toto), and as usual it seems generally lips are less loose at Japanese development houses. Plus, the above mentioned rumored significant repercussions (even more than usual?) of breaking the NDAs, and the stricter they are the theoretically likelier they are to really diminish or stop leaks.

Has anyone mentioned mobile/cell phone?
I got the weirdest feeling it's a gaming mobile phone, this NX thing.
Mark my words.
Or...just laugh at me.
Either/either.

I personally think they would love to be purchased by Apple or Disney. Even though I don't think they would ever admit it. Japan may not even allow it. But I think Nintendo has eyes at both Disney and Apple

Disney I could see working, if they allowed Nintendo to keep their identity. Imagine a Nintendo made Star Wars game, or a Disney made Zelda movie.

If we don't get any shred of news this week I think I'm going to buy an Xbox One S out of boredom
I think Xbone S is a great deal. We all know the Xbone OS is bad, but it is a great media player. Second only to Apple TV. It has one big thing going for it that others don't. Xbox Live. That can't be understated. PSN still is terrible in comparison. It also appears western developers are liking working with Microsoft again.

Xbox is on the rebound in America. Will it ever sell like 360? No. Will it catch PS4...No. Could it change the tide when Scorpio releases next year and the unofficial "next gen" starts. Yes, yes I think it can.

Not sure why people are expecting news for tomorrow, there's literally nothing that suggests that. They even have to focus on Pokémon.

My faith in a October reveal has been shook.

Maybe malo's spirit took over your body?

EDIT: i was thinking about nerdleaks hinting at some kind of leak happening on twitter, what was that about?

I was once super excited for NX, i'm skeptical at best now. I personally don't see the suave executive planning a super system. I think they have had setback after setback. Including death. Which is unfortunate. I personally believe this was supposed to launch November 2016.

I don't think it will be able to run ps4 and Xbone ports. I think they will rely heavily on Japanese third parties like the 3ds.

If they were smart they would shore up third party support. Have a two prong approach 1) blue ocean strategy, and 2) a esports approach for the faithful and the "core".

I keep saying this, and I sound like a broken record. But this is Nintendo's last chance as a console maker. If we want to hear something, we should just ignore them until they announce something. I was as guilty as anyone of reading any little alleged leak or rumor that came out.

We shouldn't be acting like dogs begging Nintendo for table scraps. Nintendo you should step up and explain to me why you are worth my time and money.

Truly, if we all stopped caring and reporting on NX and essentially ignore them. Watch how fast they respond.

If Nintendo can't articulate why, they should take their Poke ball and go home.
Haha

Why? I don't get this. First, all rumors point to this thing being ahead of schedule. Then, nothing is really going on in the second half of October that would prevent them from making a major announcement like this. PSVR won't affect it. The elections won't affect it. The entire month is a fine time to reveal the system.

Because they'd want to get in before the PSVR launch hype, and more importantly because they have an Animal Crossing Direct in the beginning of November and won't want an event and a Direct or two Directs too close together. They'll probably want a little distance from Sun/Moon as well, along with the holiday season in general. Also, "all rumors" isn't really accurate, as the only one saying that Emily. Not that I don't believe her, but she is just one person and doesn't represent everyone.

My faith in a October reveal has been shook.

Disney I could see working, if they allowed Nintendo to keep their identity. Imagine a Nintendo made Star Wars game, or a Disney made Zelda movie.

That's what should happen. maximize your IP! A Mario Pixar, Donkey Kong cartoon show on Disney XD, Zelda movie trilogy of OG Zelda, Link to the Past, and Link to the Future?! A darker PG-13 Metroid movie. A different character for different age groups.

Toys, Lego sets, cereal, etc. It is amazing and bad management that this has not happened.

A part of me still thinks, ok they are not being sold to Apple and Disney. Even though I think Nintendo should approach Blue Ocean And Esports, I think they double down and go after children 13 and under. World wide, target children. A market that Sony and Microsoft largely ignore. But come to an arrangement with Microsoft. Release some Nintendo ports like Zelda, Metroid, and Fire Emblem on Xbox as well. Keep Mario and Pokemon for NX and iOS. But maximize sales of genres that skew to older audiences. In return Minecraft, Banjo, and others show up on NX. Traditional gaming is a shrinking community. Start developing children. Let them advance to Xbox as a natural progression as they get older.

Dominate and invent the way Nintendo used to. Where is the official controller for mobile games? Nintendo should develop that and have everyone else use it. Be aggressive, set trends and maximize your IP!

Sorry. I know you will all laugh me out of the room. Channeling my inner Pachter.
