Much appreciated. P4G actually did really well for a port. It's a shame P5 will not get one unless they gut it like P3P and even then I'm not so sure.
They could take the Persona 3 FES route instead and rerelease it on PS4/PS3 with additional content.

In the world of DLC that wouldn't fly so easy.

A goty style rerelease with all DLC of course, but people ain't gonna buy the same game twice when they can buy just the extra content

I don't think Persona we'll be getting a portable version this time. However, I do believe that it will be getting an enhanced version on the same platform(s).

I think Persona 5 will manage to crawl into ~500k zone this year or in the beginning of the next year. By the way, 70% of the original shipment was sold during the Day 1. Let's wait for Famitsu numbers anyway. They still track digital sales, right?

Think the baseline for PS4 will be around 25-30k after slim and P5?

Even with NX being easy to port to (we hope)

Ah that's true, DLCs could work too.

Sounds about right. Should surpass Wii U the week after next.

Looking back, its pretty much point for point, around where we were last year with the price drop, just that then it was two weeks and no major release (MGSV had been 55k prior).

So probably expect the same end result too, should see the PS4 re-stabilize around ~22. It had more recently started slipping under the 20k baseline as well.

No.

Just imagine ps4 sales during FF XV week xD

A lower number?

Don't think it'll be any different. Dark Souls has been doing this consistently. Dragon's Dogma also did this. The main reason people buy a game again is to have it on another platform, which is why P4G sold so much more than P3 Fes. I don't think a retail re-release with a P5 expansion + PS4 Pro upgrades would do worse than P3 Fes did on the PS2, even with a DLC version of the expansion on PSN.

I'm pretty sure that's quite likely to happen but I don't think it'll sell as well as a portable version.

Why is everyone ruling out a portable version anyway?

There's a portable releasing in March which should be perfectly capable of running it.

Unlikely. the best selling Persona is the first and sitting at 391,556 LTD.

Good numbers for PS4 but I find Persona numbers disappointing. After all the years and good word of mouth the growth is quite small with the marketing it received.

But that's completely irrelevant to the market conditions today. Persona is not the franchise it was then, and the audience is different from the audience then. I think it will be hard for P5 to cross 500k in retail alone without the help of a budget re-release and an expansion re-release. But I feel pretty confident that Atlus will put out a press release before the international release saying they have shipped over 500k of Persona 5 retail+digital. Seems like a no brainer to me.

The great thing would have been a simultaneous release of FFXV and PS4 Pro actually ! There will be the PS4 Luna Edition to help the hardware sales though.

So, any gentle soul to post some previous numbers for PES ?

EDIT : for last year

[PS3] Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 – 48,473
[PS4] Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 – 39,017

The Ps4 Sim special FF XV edition is rocking Amazon Japan charts since it was announced so it must be a big seller over there.

Is this (going to be) Atlus's first million seller WW? Or did P4G do it too?

Nice week for PS4, soon to pass Wii U. Solid week for 3DS too, why the near double from last week?

2DS re-launched.

Amazon.co.jp is irrelevant to the market for Japan.

Best Persona debut ever even if you count only PS4... I really don't understand how anybody could expect 500k :p

PS4 is not dad anymore.

Persona 4 sold even less. The market and the audience for Persona hasn't changed. The franchise isn't showing much growth in Japan.

In the end looks like this is really the fire emblem awakening of Persona series, aka the "awakening" of the Persona series :p

Now i'm just wondering how will perform in the west, will be very interesting to watch how will do at launch and if maybe can get some kind of legs.

Media Create didn't share Pokemon 2DS numbers and maybe Famitsu will do the same.

Hopefully Media Create mentions them in their weekly report (with the Top 50), but I'm not holding my breath.

I might missed this from previous threads, but did Famitsu ever say why their weekly update timing is kinda irregular now?

Famitsu is regularly late now, though how late isn't set in stone for some reason. Not sure why.

2DS didn't cut sales from 3DS at all. Not many are interested for a cheap low profile handheld. As a collector's item with Pokemon it had bigger power. Even 500k look high for this revision, maybe it will end closer to Vita TV than GB Micro.

Wow I did not expect PS4 to sell almost 100k in a single week. And great Persona sales as well. This holiday season will be really good for the PS4.

Amazon Japan is not the giant that other Amazon's around the world are . Its not really relevant in the retail japanese space.

FFXV bundles will do great anyway thoug, but not this megaton some are expecting

Why wouldn't it be?

I mean we're talking about a hypothetical but Persona 4 Golden was Vita exclusive.

Persona seems pretty established on the PlayStation ecosystem. It wouldn't make business sense to make a Persona mainline game exclusive to the NX.

P5 sold more in the first week than P4 LTD and people are saying that they were expecting 500k? Come on.

Great numbers, really happy to see the game being a success.
