Completely impossible unless XV gets delayed, because it's a global release.

Persona 5's only chance at a million is from the worldwide sales, which means February at the earliest (and even then, a million worldwide is not a guarantee).
1 million worldwide should be a lock unless P5 underperforms compared to P4 which would be a big disappointment.
I think 1.5m LTD worldwide should be possible after all is said and done (specially after Atlus' aggressive sales like they do for P4G).

Btw, just noted Minecraft Wii U... damn it's still so strong.

It need an avg of 12,000 all weeks for sell 300K this year... looks like will easy break that result.

I think it has a good shot, but I would hesitate to call it a lock.

The game could easily do something like 250k in the US and 200k in Europe, and those sales certainly wouldn't be a disappointment.

Now, eventually if they aggressively slash the price for PSN sales down the line it could probably get up to much higher numbers, but as far as initial print run full price sales, I could easily see it in the 8-900k range worldwide. Which would still represent a very healthy increase over Persona 4. Or it could get a little over a million, perhaps as high as 1.2 million.

Dragon's Crown sold over 940k worldwide. You don't think Persona 5 will do better?

WW I would say P5 has a chance of reaching 2 million+, something JRPG's these days don't reach/surpass unless they are FF, KH DQ. FE being the most recent case.

Persona 5 has the third biggest opening week on PS4, behind Knack and Metal Gear.

Persona 5 has a shot of becoming 2 on PS4.

Dragon's Crown sold over 940k worldwide. You don't think Persona 5 will do better?

I think it could do better, but I also don't think it's necessarily a slam dunk thing to do that right away. I think that's probably about the range where I would expect the game to initially sell, although maybe a little higher.

How many of those Dragon's Crown sales were in the launch period? I'm sure Persona 5 will get above that number eventually, but I think that may come when Atlus puts it on sale for $30 on PSN sales every other month down the line. I wouldn't be shocked if Persona 5 sold up towards 1.5 million down the road, but I think somewhere around 900k to 1.1 million is about what I'd put my money on for the initial sales period at full price.

It'll be over 300k next week, but selling another 100k after that is going to be really tough. And there's no way that will happen before FFXV is released, so... it won't be #2 anyway.

Wasn't Dark Souls 3 FW sales lower than P5 on PS4 alone? If P5 has similar legs to that I can see it reaching 400k a year or so from now. Though you might be right about XV hurting its sales.

Edit: Oh, now I see what you mean, nevermind lol

Vanillaware is like 10 people and if you notice their new game wasn't even at TGS. That sure seems to be going well. I'm sure they have the time to port an old game to PC. Oh wait.

Maybe their new game missed TGS because they are busy porting Dragon's Crown to PC?

Just remembered, Yakuza 6 is also coming out in December. That's a PS4 exclusive this time. It's going to be interesting to see how it converts. The Yakuza franchise is supposed to be bigger than Persona (>500k for most games in the series) but it has been in decline lately due to spinoffs, prequels, and remakes which Japan has been lukewarm on. This is supposed to be the grand return.

So in the end, it's the only Nintendo Selects to chart this time.

Oh, and Terraria really is MIA. Makes me wonder if it's even in the Top 50 (Media Create).

If there was a PS3 version maybe it could come close to 500k, as a PS4 exclusive I doubt it, half million is a high bar.

At least Yakuza is helped by huge growth in Asia compared to last gen. Kiwami had 200k first shipment in Asia outside of Japan. Will be interesting to see if the growth continues with Y6 (and like you said how it does in Japan)

Nomura wouldn't of allowed this ;___;
It's a game stuck awkwardly between trying to appeal to Japan and trying to appeal to the West, thus having turn-offs for both, in an era where there's a ton of choice, games last longer than ever, and people have gotten a lot more picky.

It's not an ideal scenario.

2nd wave of Nintendo Selects didn't do as good as first one. Titles were weaker this time but Mario Tennis being the one that charted in top 30 leaving bigger sellers out was a little unexpected.

Yeah. Noctis's future design and the fact that the game starts out in the future seems to me a way for the game to go 'Hey! Look at how badass this guy looks later!' to the western audience. I expect it'll have pretty disappointing sales for both Japan and especially the West for Square Enix. I also expect the next entry to probably take more inspiration from Game of Thrones to try and hit a wider audience.

These will probably be my choices for October's Prediction League: (2016.09.26 - 2016.10.30)

[3DS] Monster Hunter Stories
[PS4] Battlefield 1
[PS4 + PS3 + PSV] Berserk Musou
[PS4 + PSV] Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
[PS4 + PSV] World of Final Fantasy
[PSV] Macross Delta Scramble

I was thinking about including Playstation VR (first week sales only) because I think it is highly likely that Media Create will mention in their weekly report what it sold, but since I'm not sure I'm leaning towards not including it.

I predict that sales of Battlefield 1 will surprise people. BF4 has pretty much doubled its ltd this year after EA gave it great discounts in PSN and for sure some of those people have become new fans of the franchise. Not to mention the game looks so ridiculously good (and had great beta)

This week was released Utawarerumono and there was a collaboration ad with Shibuya 109. The game was quite huge, especially at dedicated anime stores. It seems the bulk of the sales are coming from the pre-orders of the limited editions.

Nothing interesting, more than Mario Maker ads and YW3 guide book being popular. Also that Pokémon Go Plus is out there, lol.
