Cool. I like these better than most of the those really old Arcade Archives titles we've had 'till now. Hopefully this will pave the way to some more nineties arcade titles.

Hmm, will Hamster use the M2 NG Station ports, or will they port them themselves?
I hope it's the former, because the current Arcade Archives don't have online play.

Either way, it will be the only way to play NG classics on PS4, and the NG Station on PS3/PSP has been delisted...

SNK are never gonna learn are they?
They did this in the PS2 era
They did it again in the PS3 era

How about going in a DESCENDING order for once?

How come they always start with the oldest and most archaic games instead of kicking off strong with more fan favourites? They had a good thing going on PS4 when they finally put out Garou, KOF2000 and Last Blade 2.

I think they're targeting different markets. Those ports you just mentioned are enhanced with online multiplayer for people who actually want to enjoy SNK's best games. These may be for nostalgic collectors who just like having Neogeo games accessible.

Lol, I don't think these are going to sell very well.

Also, I wonder how this will interact with 3PP/Code Mystic's porting of the games to PS4/Vita. They've already done Metal Slug 3 & Last Blade 2 so far and Garou is up next, plus they were polling which title to tackle after Garou (Samurai Shodown won).

Sigh...same oldest games again, as others have said.

I appreciate the effort but yeah...I'm actually hoping for some later Taito titles like Chase HQ myself at this stage, or Namco ones like Rolling Thunder. Is it possible we'll ever see those?

(Oh and someone free Windjammers from copyright limbo pretty please!)

I guess so. Still would be nice to shake up the order a bit (PS3/PSP got a similar thing, same order, and ended abruptly), but I guess if the hardcore are willing to go for it then it's working for someone.

Why don't SNK release their Neo Geo ports on Nintendo hardware? They seem to have the exact same philosophy of releasing the same ports over and over on new hardware.

Ports by SNK themselves or M2 or no sale.
Is there something wrong with the emulation from Hamster/N1?

Data East rights are in limbo, which is preventing this game from coming out.

Last legal release was Wii VC in Japan, but delisted.
I thought Paon owns Windjammers along with a few other properties (Glory of Heracles series, Karnov, Vapor Trail trilogy, Atomic Runner, High Seas Havoc)?

The usual suspects.

How about we get Samurai Shodown Tenka, KOF98, and Neogeo Battle Coliseum on PS4 with online? You know, something that's not just porting your first iteration or two and calling it a day.

Nah, this is something against emulation by Backbone or any of their derivatives.

They said NeoGeo yet you post not one but two Atomiswave games.

Metal Slug would have been more tempting had they not released MS Anthology for PS4 not that long ago - then again, perhaps there are significant differences between versions, considering that one was a PS2 port (I liked the interview included in it)?

But they did exactly that!

They released games on the Wii Virtual Console which aren't available anywhere else, like Fatal Fury Special, World Heroes Perfect, Art of Fighting 3 and many others.

I dont understand the criticism

1) they already released the newer titles on ps3 ( MS3, LB2, KOF 2000 and now Garou) which are some of the most respected and demanded game from SNK, the only one missing from the final era of the Neo Geo is SSVSP

2) At least they curated the early batch of their games this time, isnt like they are releasing the shitty games that they always release on this collections like Magician Lord or Burning Fight

My biggest problem will be if the ports are made by DotEmu, that will be worse than any catalogue selection

I still think that'll be the next 3PP/Code Mystics port, if they do one.

Hopefully this leads to Neo Geo titles coming to the NC Virtual Console again.

The Wii Virtual Console is still the bets place to get official Neo Geo titles outside of an actual Neo Geo.

I have quite a few games like Sengoku 3, World Heroes Perfect, Ninja Masters, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and The Last Blade 2 on my Wii U through Wii backwards-compatibility.

I wonder if these releases will be be based on the (now-ded) NeoGeo station release. It's the same selection (minus Magician Lord and Shock Troopers).

are Hamster's releases still laggy or was that specifically a Gradius thing?

I read that infamous video is fake

alamone said:
Whoever is accusing [the arcade archive version of Gradius] of having lag is just misinformed. It actually has less lag than the actual PCB.

I actually played this port back-to-back against the PS1 version on the same monitor (PS1-> XRGB-3 B1 mode -> monitor) and it felt very similar. That's great to hear confirmation from you alamone. Did you test it yourself against the pcb?

Mihara was just being a dick as usual. It's totally fake.

Oh no not again.

This is going to be like NG Station all over again with putting their earliest titles out first.

The initial batch of titles will sell like shit and SNK cancels them once again.

My thoughts exactly. WHY do they release the earlier titles first??

KOF2000 is a fan favorite?

What I want: SamSho Tenka, SS Zero Special, KOF94RB and KOFXi.

Edit: Shane Bettenhausen said to me that the hamster releases are actually M2. Not sure this is true, because I couldn't find any information on that.

As far as I've known it's generally a well-liked game, and was the original SNK's swan song before their bankruptcy, so it's a significant game in their history.

I'd be totally down for KOFXI but that wasn't a NeoGeo game; it and SamSho6 were Atomiswave IIRC. The last Neo Geo games were KOF 2003, SVC Chaos, Rage of the Dragons, Samurai Shodown V Special, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

Yes, and the Atomiswave titles are yet to show up on an HD Playstation platform.

I mean NOT as a PS2 classic.

It's a huge waste of good games, and companies still think people still want KOF94 in 2016. It's like Capcom going back and releasing an arcade port of Alpha 1 instead of Alpha 2 or 3.

I think that is unlikely to see Rage of the Dragons since that game is for Evoga. Also in this era Matrimelee was released, which is an Atlus game.

I think that NGBC must not have sold well, SNK did almost everything that people asked with it (HD resolution, the ugly artworks were changed) and yet they never tried with this approach again

The real deal killer is the lack of online mode in this one

No one would buy KOF 94, 95, or 96 after 2000 or 98.
Releasing just 2000 and 98 would be enough.
1 or 2 entries per series, max.
