Many of you are probably aware of the 8bitdo range of classic controller replicas, for example the SNES30, which I think is a fantastic pad. To go along with these, 8bitdo have produced two wireless receivers in collaboration with Analogue for the real consoles. The retro receiver for the NES was released recently, and the SNES adapter was released this week:

I've ordered one, it hasn't arrived yet - but the impressions so far are very promising and there doesn't seem to be any input lag whatsoever.

I'm also going to take a wild (but likely accurate) guess that N64 will be next, seeing as they've just announced this controller:

Interested in that N64 controller.

yep

hopefully the stick is good. we shall see. As for the inevitable N64 bluetooth adapter...I already have a gamecube-N64 adapter which lets me use a Wavebird with my N64, but being able to use a Wii U Pro pad or even the new bluetooth xbone pad would be incredible

Am I understanding correctly that this has a feature (completely unrelated to its function as a Bluetooth-to-SNES controller adapter) to use any supported bluetooth controller as an Xinput controller when it is plugged into your computer?

Because that's pretty neat.

apparently so, which means it's also a Wii U Pro Controller adapter for the PC!

If they made these for the N64 and GCN I'd be incredibly happy. I'd love to move away from wired controllers.

Agreed, a wireless controller for N64 and Gamecube with rumble support and without the bulky form factor would sell me on this. Could never adjust to the wavebird because of those 2 flaws.

I like how the form factor of the plug stays true to the original design. Price is decent as well, definitely on my list for when I have some spare cash.

Can't wait for that N64 controller!

This adapter is pretty nice too! Not for me, but I like what they're doing with it.

I don't mean to go off thread topic, but have you ever felt like your wavebird had lag to the inputs? Lately when playing smash it almost feels like there's like 1-3ish frames of lag. I honestly can't tell if it's just me or not. The controller is probably almost 10 years old now.

I have dreamed of this.

My dreams are coming true. Hope they do this for new consoles, (PS2, gamecube, xbox)

tested it against a real N64 controller and noticed absolutely no difference. And I was using my JVC broadcast CRT as a display, which obviously has zero lag.

There is lag on the Wii U on smash via the usb adapter though. That's without question.

Dang, this has been an expensive thread for me. Ordered two of the NES receivers, two of the SNES receivers, Raphnet-tech Gamecube controller to Nintendo 64 adapter, and a Wavebird controller to go along with it. RIP wallet.

Got mine in the post today!

All I can say is that it works as advertised, and I've been playing DKC2 with both my 8bitdo SNES30 and dualshock 4 with no lag whatsoever

Really happy with it.

Can I ask where you ordered from please Rich?
Thanks

Got it. Works great with the wii u pro controller, extremely responsive. Was there ever a "fixed" version of the SNES30/SFC30 that addresses the problems identified in the thread here? If not, I'd be curious to identify the best truly wireless pad (i.e. obviously wii remote + snes classic controller is unbeatable) for wireless SNES play. The adapter seems to do its job, which can only mean good things.

EDIT: Also, in terms of "side perks," it has a nice bright blue LED, which actually solves the SNES jr.s power LED deficiency, so go 8bitdo/analogue. (I'm using an RGB modded SNES jr with a framemeister and the lack of a power LED has bugged me for a while)

Wow this range looks really nice. I wish I saw this thread before I bought extension cables for my NES, SNES and N64 last night.

When it's available, I'll buy wireless setups for NES, SNES and N64 all at once.

Do they make a two button NES controller? I can't find one.

This is a bit specific, but I would appreciate it if anyone could answer:

Does anyone know if this wireless SNES adapter would work in conjunction with a Raphnet SNES to GCN adapter (http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/snes_to_wii/index.php)?

Basically I would be interested in using an 8bitdo controller with this wireless adapter on my modded Wii to play old games.

can't 8bitdo controllers connect to a Wii via bluetooth already?

I was wondering the exact same thing myself and wrote that raphnet guy an email because of it. Weeks ago. Never got a response.
Would really have liked to help you, but no dice this time. Guess he has his hands too full with orders.

I believe they can act as a Wiimote on a Wii, but that means a limited amount of inputs. Kind of a waste to not be able to use the shoulder buttons or the other two face buttons.

Ah, that is a shame. I would really like to know.

I'm interested in picking up the retro receiver but I have a quick question.

I know it works with the Wii Remote, but does anyone know if it also works with controllers attached to the Wii Remote? I'd love to convert a classic controller into a wireless SNES pad this way.

Throwing out there that I have one of the NES adapters, and I *LOVE* playing games on an actual NES with my DS4. After so many years in the Wii/3DS Virtual Console ecosystem and being trapped with Nintendo B and A on a diamond layout, attacking with Square and jumping with X feels like I'm home again. Input lag seemed totally negligible to me.

FWIW, I could never quite get it to install and work successfully as an Xinput Bluetooth adapter on my laptop for the DS4 or Wii Remote, though.

At least on the NES one, the Classic Controller or Nunchuck WOULD NOT work attached to the Wii Remote, only the stock Wii Remote or a Wii U Pro Controller are usable, Nintendo-wise. I believe that the firmware on these can be updated via USB, though, so it's NOT IMPOSSIBLE that Classic Controller support could be added in the future, I just wouldn't hold my breath for it yet.

That sucks. I was hoping to use the new Classic NES Mini controllers on my old NES and the AVS, and this receiver seemed like it would be the way to do it.

Edit: I've been wanting to get fresh NES controllers for a few months and why buy secondhand on eBay when Nintendo themselves will be selling them?

One of mine broke recently... Replacements are pricy!

That's for sure. As a tip, it's cheaper to find replacement elements than a complete set.

I compiled 3 receivers for about 50 cents to a dollar each and 3 controllers for around $3 each but they were obtained separately at thrift stores or flea markets.

Wonder this also.

I read about mushy/slow button response for example.

The lack of an easily replaceable replaceable makes me hesitate also.
