Not off to a promising start. I'm not complaining, though; my expectations for this are at an all-time low. Still it would be kinda nice to give us a good consolation prize considering the release date, huh?

Yeah, other companies do promotional temporary shops for their products (Namco for example with Dark Souls, they even opened one here in Italy).
ALso i thought the FFXV is only temporary? I wouldn't be surprised if they update it for every big game.

They were clever with the grass. It's actually less than in Duscae but it's patchier and the grass patches reach out as far as in Duscae. And it does look imo even better overall.
I was then and am now sure that the last trailer footage was regular PS4 too.

It looks way nicer. I think the colors and contrast have changed somewhat too.
Well she's Luna's VA, i don't think she has too much to say.
The green is lighter and more saturated. Duscae felt for some reason kinda dark, brownish and desaturated.
I guess the absence of the dark vignette around the screen helps a lot too.

Their marketing team is one of the worst I've seen in gaming, for real. The ATRs are barely about the game anymore.
ATRs have been like this since the march event. Getting disappointed over it is weird.
They're rather pointless for a while now, unlike the World of FF or FFXIV broadcasts which actively show new developments each time.

How does the fact that it's a consistent failure make it less worth noting or criticizing? If anything the longer it persists the more fans should complain so it can, you know, stop.
They even had relevant content they could have shown. If those screens are from the most recent build, why not show it in motion? Their marketing decisions are baffling and I think they could learn a lot from the XIV team. The meat of marketing should be focused on the game with tie-in products as an afterthought, not the other way around.
Yes, it has been but in recent footage it imo started to look better again. As they said a while ago, they will have a mix of real-time global illumination and pre-baked lighting in the final game.
Also, some might like the brighter, more vibrant lighting of recent footage better than the "advanced" lighting in Duscae which felt rather drab at times though.

Also, it's funny how much folks around here complain about the marketing - marketing that has, in one way or another, successfully strung them along for 10 years. Though I know part of the concern is that they're not effectively reaching out to potential new fans
Honestly I'm glad they delayed it. The bugs people reported were simply unacceptable for a Final Fantasy game. Not only that but FFXIV released a new content update this past Tuesday and I'm happy I now have more time to play that instead.Would've been amazing to have it today.

You raise a fair point, but the marketing really only took this drastic of an irrelevant turn recently. Say what you will about the effectiveness of stuff like Dawn or the malboro footage, at least it was about the game. The ATRs turning into glorified commercials for tie-in merchandise and promotional product placement is a really gross look and they could do much more effective things to sell the game. They had the benefit up to 2013 of Nomura, too, and he's pretty great at offering tantalizing tidbits even if they come excruciatingly slowly.
Also I'll be real. It's super selfish but I think they owed fans something better than this since this is when the game was supposed to release.
