SWTOR: Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion announcement trailer

Are there still a lot of people playing this game? I was under the impression it had been dead for a while.

I hadn'tr played for a bit, so logged in to play the last 4 chapters I had missed. It was pretty dead, and I play on (what was at one time) a fairly busy server too. I'm sure it will pick up once Knights of the Eternal Throne drops though. It was pretty busy the last time I played before today (about 4 months ago or so).

It's a single player game now. People come back to play the new story chapter and that's it. Not much else to do in the game.

It's pretty much only retained people who are crazy for lootboxes that they release monthly.

9 new story chapters

Not much more detail beyond that.

Honestly I have been half expecting EA to drop TOR after it not setting the world on fire but I guess the game is not doing half bad if it's still getting expansions.

i will play the 16 chapters from the actual addon and the new 9 chapters. Not much interest in the MMO part of the game but i really liked the Story stuff.

If you start with lvl 1 just start with Imperial Agent, really nice Story :)

Their cinematics team is seriously next level. Seriously between that trailer and the KOTFE cinematic there are few that are that effective.

I like that SWTOR has embraced its identity as an MMO single player action RPG. Despite some weird ass story and plot inconsistencies I really liked Knights of the Fallen Empire for what it was.

These aren't done in-house. I mean at least I think the past ones were done by Blur.

Cinematics as always are great, story hook has me intrigued. But I just won't go back to an MMO at this point. Get back to me when it's back to its RPG roots.

Relevant as always

I did play the MMO extensively on release btw, really had a lot of potential they squandered.

Best single player MMORPG available on the PC. Y'all can quote me on that.

The game is more single-player than ever, FYI.

We really need more Star Wars games set in that era, that trailer is fantastic. I can imagine a lot of great RPG's that use the Old Republic lore. If only we could have a third KotOR game.

Could they get more money out of a $60 Star Wars RPG than a 6 year old free to play PC exclusive mmo? God, I want a single player Star Wars rpg...

Even though I long lost interest in SWTOR (even if people say good things about the recent expansion), it's always nice to see these excellent CG shorts they put out.

So good. Wonder if we'll ever get movies with some of these characters/empires etc.

I last played SWTOR last year where i completed chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire. How much gameplay is there in the following chapters up to chapter 16? What's the end-game for solo players like these days? I'm planning on returning when this expansion hits for sure, if not sooner.

Top tier parenting. Send kid off to become sith lord, have second thoughts later.

Took it as mother is hiding the force powers the child has by tying the toy by rope to hands but the child sees others with the force and wants to imitate as they see though by the one cutscene in the forest it's uncontrolled and comes out at raw emotion. The child lets her emotions show it during training and the king(?) finds out and sends the mother away. She feels there is nothing she can do so she leaves the child so no one is harmed who is later broken by them at which point the mother senses the extremeness of the situation and attempts a rescue. The child is either broken/brainwashed or stays because the mother never nurtured their force sensitivity while the captors did.

Edit - Saw video on computer noticed toy is not tied to hand, rest still stands

I was actually a big fan of the game during its first year or two. I had heard good things about last year's expansion, but I tried it out for several hours and didn't like how it had become a completely linear experience (from what I played).

So I haven't played the game in a couple of years. Did all 8 class characters to level 55 storylines though.

So how do these expansions work, is it the same storyline regardless of empire or republic classes? So I can just do it with one character right?

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
I love these CG trailers. Why did she even let the sith take her daughter though?

Man, I'd love a new single player Star Wars RPG

Is this game good now?

I tried it out several years ago... But it was buggy as hell and just wasn't that good...

It's definitely better. Their engine's still not great and early areas have questionable design decisions, however these are mitigated a bit by the rebalanced levelling system and some movement improvements.

It's not completely linear, but yeah KotFE is very much a vehicle for a linear Star Wars-themed "BioWare Story". Don't expect much of a difference from KotET.

I know It's a lot to ask for, but I really hope they port this to consoles.

Their engine is trash and can barely run on PCs. It'll never happen.

The Knights of expansions are the same whether you are Republic or Empire. You are now "the Outlander", a veteran of the Cold War and the Galactic War who is leading combined forces from both the Republic and Sith Empire against the Eternal Empire.

You still can't group cross faction. :/

They aren't even Sith! This probably the closest to a Single Player Star Wars RPG we'll get. It's serviceable.

Called it. EA is still on business for SWTOR expansions.

They announced it a while back tho. Not much to call :p

Goodness gracious that was amazing looking. If only the game looked anything like this. I just want to see all the cinematics like that. Is it only the teasers or are there cutscenes like that in the actual game!?!

The game does make a good profit for them indeed or it would be dead by now when everything else ended after Disney bought the whole damn thing.

And that's one extremely well done trailer.

Letting your kid be trained as a Sith leads to bad things.......who knew.

Man I wish they wouldn't waste these stories and their time on SWTOR. These could be such nice actual single-player KOTORs.

Hmm... I may try it again, then. I just remember trying to play it before and prompts weren't showing up for actions that were required to move quests forward. It was literally unplayable since I was stuck in the area I was in.

Sith Warrior and Imperial Agent are some of the best stories Bioware has told. If you've not done it, do yourself a favor- Find a friend/partner (or 3) all subscribe for a month or two and go through some story together. It's a lot of fun.
The levelling process is so fast now you can skipp all the non-main story side quest and do the planetary main story and your class stories.

And SWTOR is not a bad game. It's a CO-RPG WoW clone, and in that framework its a good game. I really think the conversation system with friends dice-rolling to be the one deciding the outcomes in both dungeons (flashpoints) and quests is fun and satisfying.

The only thing that really ruins it is if you have two players playing the same gender and class because they will share voice actor.
Try to be in a party with one of each class / gender so you dont have your same voice actor twice!

I'll second the imperial agent, the biggest loss of this game existing is that storyline not getting to be it's own RPG.

Did knights of the fallen empire end already?

I played until a certain chapter and got bored because the character interactions with your previous companions and characters that weren't story centric was so minimal. I'll eventually finish it I guess.
