NX Subreddit mods "verifying" the the source of NX *RUMORS.*

Way too much.
I'm not saying it can't be a great "console" but that number is way too high for the mainstream.
Huh? Millions of people paid $400 for a PS4, $500 for an XBox One. And by all accounts, this thing is two devices in one. I don't see how $300 is too expensive for mainstream.

So 4 launch games a one appears to be Mario? Hmmm wonder what the other three are. I imagine one is just a standard gimmick/demo game.

Of course though this sounds like a fake but eh..

If we're talking about all of this from the perspective of hypothetical pre-release store promo info - odds are the four games would be first party titles that Nintendo is confident saying will make launch. Third party stuff likely isn't locked down yet, and I doubt the NX will have a launch library only consisting of four games.

However, the presence of games at all makes me a bit suspicious. They felt the need to blur out the hardware (presumably to stop leaks), but still show four major launch titles? Additionally, why would Mario be the only recognizable character of the four? The thing is launching with Breath of the Wild, and it would seem unlikely that Nintendo is going to come out of the gate with their two heaviest hitters day one.

This leads me to narrow it down to two possibilities.
1. The whole thing is fake, and the person behind the hoax got loose on the details.
2. The four games are fabrications, or just nondescript assets meant to be placeholders. So a bit of recognizable Mario art, and three other generic "video game" looking images to round out the poster.

Overall, the info is vague enough to be believable - but also toothless enough to be irrelevant.

What rumors should I believe? The "NX will be cheaper than people expect" rumors, or those that put this thing at $399.99 for any SKU?

I just don't know, anymore. Nintendo, please, just give us something soon. ANYTHING. Straight from your mouth. I know we internet forum-dwellers mean nothing but at this point, you're letting silly rumors run rampant. Give us a couple of essential details and we'll be willing to wait for the rest.

This sounds completely fake. So many rumors we've had from Reddit and remember how many of them were "verified" only to be false?

That, and even if it is fake, there's no way it's costing less than $250. Hell, I'll go ahead and say there's no way it's less than $300.

The color scheme for the packaging is white and blue (compared to the Wii U's blue and black).

No way isnt red.

this seems fake, but if the NX is releasing in March, soon we will have real leaks. I hope the madmen at Nintendo arent planning to unveil it in January

Maybe Nintendo aren't targeting idiots who look at one bundle price clearly marked "bundle" and ignore all other posters, displays, and news stories... :p

Yeh maybe.

Don't know who this "credible" leak coming from one and only r/NX is targeting.

$299 for the handheld standard just makes me think it isn't a handheld i guess. I know Hybrid but are they really nuking a cheaper handheld for the all in one?

This is my thoughts as well. If the only way to buy an NX system including if you just want to handheld game is $299, I don't see this going well for Nintendo at all.

Needs to be $199 for base if Nintendo wants it to sell really well.

Really hope they dont go with White and Blue again. Let the Wii and Wii U finally behind.

Gonna use some sweet Red and Black/White.

Pretty much. This is fake. We've had "verified" rumors from Reddit be false with NX way too much. And there's no way they're not using red with so much red in their advertising and color scheme now.

If it is revealed this year, we have 9 weeks left (I am not counting Thanksgiving or Christmas weeks)

If it is this month we got a 1/3 chance of it being next week lol

"Interact with your game on the go." phrase seen on a poster.

Errrrr that doesn't sound good. Sounds like that rumour from a few days ago that you'd only be able to play mobile versions of games when the system is handheld. That would be an absolutely disastrous design decision.

Hybrid doesn't mean everyone wins.

Hybrid means everyone compromises.

Somebody is going to have to pay more or get less power or whatever than what they truly want.

Surely it'll be revealed this year if it's coming in March.

Historically, anyone know the shortest distance between announcement and retail?

I don't trust it.

First, they talk about posters. And then they talk about the image of the hardware being blurred. So either 1.) They have posters for the NX that don't include an image of the machine, or 2.) They have posters that include a blurred image of the machine (and wtf kind of poster is that?).

Really cant get people who complain about the 300 bucks.

They want good stuff but dont wanna pay more than 5 bucks for it like wtf.

The mod says:

Clarifying: Retailers have not received any physical boxes. They have just been provided with mockups of what the in-store displays should look like when fully stocked and completed.

This is the shortest if March is still the release month. Personally I think the silence from them is ridiculous, give their hardcore fans something to get excited about beyond Zelda.

Zelda bundle for $400
make an extra $40 for a system that has a zelda theme/color along with the game
make it limited too so everyone wants one
$$$$$$$$$$

I was expecting $299 too

Will NX have twitch streaming? or youtube streaming, Nintendo could make bank since they get a piece of that if they had a youtube stream option

I want to see how that interaction goes with the on-the-go aspect of the NX rumor. I'm curious how that actually goes.

Maybe when you're playing an RPG, you can play a mini game on your phone that helps enhance your characters' levels.

Or maybe in Breath of the Wild, you could have interaction on your phone, where you locate exclusive items in the real world.

I still need to see how that's executed tho, I have faint concepts in my mind about it that doesn't seem promising.

Now that I think about it, it essentially sounds like the Pokewalker.

Didn't Miyamoto say that a new Mario title would be revealed at next year's e3? That would be long after launch especially if it's a holiday title.

Well he could have been just talking about 3d Mario well 2d Mario will be at launch, pacing the two out would be a smart idea after all and he doesn't seem to have much to do with 2d Mario these days. Even putting this rumor aside i find it hard to believe that with the desire to have a strong launch and launch window of software for the NX a Mario platformer wouldn't be present.

I think to that end Nintendo just has to distance themselves from traditional categories. Don't frame it in terms of console or handhelds, market it like an all new device that you don't own yet. If they do a decent job there then they become the pace-setter.
