Fake.

Like, this is the 200th rumor. I can't even muster some energy to care about this. We'll see the NX when we see it.

edit: ayeeeeee top of the page though!

Nothing too interesting there, other than Mario at launch. Could be real or fake, but I don't really care either way considering how basic it is.

Really hope the 1080p/60fps part comes true, regardless of what the NX ends up being. It's one of the reasons I have been so disappointed with this gen's consoles, especially now that they're going straight to 4k and ignoring frame rate.

Nevertheless, just have to wait and see. I've never been a part of pre-reveal hype/leaks, so I don't know what to make of all of this.

1. The Wii U died at $300. Nintendo placed a major emphasis on their next console being of a lower price.

2. Miyamoto said Mario wouldn't be 'til E3 at the earliest. No way they have a new game out at launch.

3. No way the box would be bigger than the Wii U if it's a handheld.

4. "1080p and 60fps are being used by the marketing teams in relation to gameplay on to the console portion. I've heard unconfirmed rumblings of 900p for the infamous hybrid part of the device" makes no sense.

5. This subreddit's verification methods are dubious at best.

Conclusion: Fake

Let's just hope this isn't true.

Besides the price of the actual thing being ridiculously high, the whole rumor denies the "we learn with our WiiU mistakes".

C'mon guys... $299 is expensive as fuck

Good write up. I agree.

idk marketing recently has been pushing red and white. blue and white is weird.

$299 seems fair would have liked $249 for handheld only.

E3 is only 3 months after the NX launch. That falls within what Nintendo has recently been calling its "launch window" the last couple generations. For example, 3DS launched in March, and Ocarina of Time came out in June, Nintendo talked about Zelda as being in the launch window.

There's a mindset that Nintendo Hardware isn't worth high prices when compared to Sony and Microsoft. If NX is $300+ I hope Nintendo can convince those people it is worth it.

I've talked to the main admin in discord about this, I know him, he's a good guy. He wouldn't post this without reason.

Why would Nintendo publish early marketing materials to retailers before unveiling the final name of the product? This reeks of more fake bullshit.

For what it's worth I thought Miyamoto's comments about the next Mario were specifically about a "new type of 3D Mario" so that in no way indicates that there can't be a different Mario game at launch.

What bothers me about this rumor though is the price and the use of the code name NX in the promotional material. Doesn't make much sense to me. I'm calling fake.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten that subreddits are like community threads. Like how they had an AMA with a guy that said he had NX leaks and the NX uses "DDR5" RAM. lol

(I'm very unfamiliar with Reddit.)

I wouldn't expect Mario until September at the earliest. It'll probably be next October or November realistically. There won't be a Mario game at launch it just contradicts what's been said.

I just want Nintendo to announce the damn thing. I'm hoping of the one pages they DON'T pull out of Apple's playbook, it's the one where they officially unveil the thing 3 weeks before it goes on sale.

He was unverified.

The only other verified one was untypedhero who is said to be very close to the SDK.

4 launch games? Didn't they delay the console so that there would be a more robust launch lineup? 4 is what they made use of the delay time for? What did they have originally, 0?

This is clearly fake.

Going with fake.. because I want it to be fake.
White and blue instead of red? and at that price point? eh..
The packaging saying NX is strange too unless that's the actual final name.

Do I have to prove it? This was before it was posted.
I did it because I hardly use NeoGAF and my friend wanted to see how easily people would believe it.
Sorry guys, you wont be seeing me here anymore lmao
You're not really believable either because of this^ thing you pulled in that other thread.

The level of thirst for the NX is rivaling a high school teenage boy trying to get some poon for the very first time

team bullshit

honestly the size of the packaging stood out most to me. how the hell is it going to be larger than the Wii U's packaging? that was a pretty large box.

This is clearly fake.

the only way that number makes sense is if nintendo themselves are planning four launch titles. they had 3-4 for the wii, wii u, and 3ds.

oops, gotta take this down

It's not the fact that you talked to whomever, it's you "vetting" him. Like you insinuated that you have insider info before. It's totally irrelevant. Stopping pretending to be someone "in the knowledge". I wait for the "I was joking" post now.

Nothing really mind blowing here, just kind of more of what we already suspected with price and Mario launch titles.

I have a hard time believing the NX would start at $300. It would be dead on arrival with that price; they should aim for $250. Also them claiming that the materials still use the name "NX" doesn't make much sense either.

Also 4 launch games would only make sense if they're referring to 1st party titles, and that still seems low.

Huh? Millions of people paid $400 for a PS4, $500 for an XBox One. And by all accounts, this thing is two devices in one. I don't see how $300 is too expensive for mainstream.

Both of those play the most popular games of the year. 300$ is a lot for something thatll likely lack 3rd party parity.
