I mean: which good indie games have been published on PlayStation 4 and not on Xbox One and which have been published on Xbox One and not on PlayStation 4?

My "missing list" currently includes:

(missing from) PS4
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
- Dungeon of the Endless
- #IDARB
- Raiden V
- So Many Me
- Kingdom: New Lands
- Elite: Dangerous
- Superhot

(missing from) XB1
- Transistor
- Thumper
- Headlander
- 100ft Robot Golf
- SOMA
- Apotheon
- Crypt of the NecroDancer
- Day of the Tentacle Remastered
- Downwell
- Enter the Gungeon
- Furi
- Home
- Hotline Miami
- I Am Bread
- Surgeon Simulator
- Jamestown Plus
- Mutant Mudds
- Magicka 2
- Not a Hero
- Nuclear Throne
- Risk of Rain
- The Road not Taken
- Shadwen
- Titan Souls
- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Note: I'm not including Early Access/Game Preview games such as Everspace.

Yet to play it myself, but The Flame in the Flood is 'missing' from PS4.

I'd hoped this was a thread about indie games not avaliable on console like Quadrilateral Cowboy and Undertale.

Undertale.

This would be pretty cool, and there are already Game Maker titles on PS4 (like Hyper Light Drifter) but I'd have to wonder how its more esoteric mechanics would transfer to console. You know the ones I mean.

Nier
managed to do something similar, but that wasn't the same.

Exactly, making a list comparing the two consoles is not that interesting I think, and it will become just list warzzz

Chasm.

I don't know if it's an issue with game as a whole but the Playstation Blog announced it for Summer 2015 at one point and then it never appeared.

Undertale hasn't been released on anything but PC, so it doesn't fit with the premise of the OP.

Sure, but like the guy a couple posts above you said, if it was just xb1 vs ps4 it really would be kind of list warz-y, wouldn't it? I think the thread's better for including games that aren't on either system.

???

Why?

It is a good way to check the status of "missing" indie games (and maybo go bothering indies devs for port-begging :D)

Please, don't see console war everywhere.

There are other great or very good indies missing from PS4. The Turing Test, Superhot, The Solus Project, FRU. And Ori, depending if you consider it an indie game.

But the character limit of posts on GAF precludes that :p

Invisible Inc for the Xbox list. I'm also not sure I'd have Shadwen on the list, by most metrics it's not a very good game.

How exactly does Raiden V qualify as an "indie" game?

I reviewed the game some weeks ago. The game has been independently developed by Moss and published straight to XB1.

Regardless of its well-known brand, it qualifies as an independent production.

No idea? Self published games seem to release on the Xbox at an alarming rate (even more on the PS4) that I can't keep up with all the releases on the platform I own, never mind the games releasing on a platform that I don't own :)

Spelunky on Xbox One. The 360 version is backwards compatible, but I don't think it ever got the updates (including the Pro HUD) that the PlayStation versions got.

Microsoft owns Ori, in no way is it indie and the only way it'd come to PS4 is if Microsoft went third party.

Same thing goes with Amplitude, by the way, OP. Sony owns it.

There's a huge difference between Indies not coming to PS4 and XB1. Most Indies will be on PS4 while XB1 will be excluded from a lot of them. One example would be Supergiant games, they have completely disregard XBOX while focusing solely on PlayStation this gen. There's nothing wrong with that but they shouldn't expect me to pay $20/£14.99 for transistor two years later.

Business sense is one of the reason why Indie developing is make less than usual. Maybe I'm wrong but at the moment, excluding a platform when your aren't a big company isn't the smartest thing to do.

Actually, does it really matter?, indie or not?, the lines are a little blurry anyway, especially when you have an indie developer, but a triple A publisher.

Isn't Elite: Dangerous still in Early Access though?

The Forest - PS4
Earth Night - PS4

Is The Forest out on Xbone? They teased that for consoles years ago and then have gone completely dark. I've even messaged the devs on Twitter a couple of times, but they haven't responded.

Ori is not an indie game and it's never coming to PS4.

Same has gone for some of the Devolver Digital games. I don't know if they've still been avoiding Xbox lately, but they did for a while

DD is one of the biggest to do that, it's the main reason why I buy SW for cheap when its on sale. If this is how Indie companies are going to act, most of them will be out by 2019/2020.

What if they are selling well even with this behaviour?

During the Xbox 360 dominance something similar happened.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't MOSS publish and develops their own games? How does that make them any different than say, Capcom or SNK?

They are a team of 40 people formed after Seibu Kaihatsu closed down. They bought the Raiden trademark.

They just develop a game at once and publish it by themselves in digital format.

When I talked to them they said me they have no publisher, they self-publish their games.

Isn't that the very definition of a independent developer?

Had the game been titled "Shooter V" instead of "Raiden V" we would not been having this conversation. :)
