Rank the best PSVR Games

PSVR might be the cheapest way to get into high-end virtual reality, but it ain't cheap! Thought it might be a good idea for users to tell us the best games now that people have their units. I'll update mines as I get more games, but we'll start with the list from digital trends. I know we have reviews and an excellent OT. Mods can lock if redundant, just wanted to hear from more users and less critics.

Took out DT list as we have enough posts now to form our own...just will do a top 3 for now.

What GAF Thinks
- Rez most recommended
- Thumper 2nd most recommended
- Playroom is now third most recommended
- Rigs creeping up

From what I've played so far:

1) Rez
2) RIGS
3) Thumper
4) Headmaster
5) Driveclub VR
6) Until Dawn
7) 100ft Robot Golf (Love the game, doesn't work in VR for me)
8) Job Simulator (Keeps crashing)

Own, but yet to try: VR Worlds, Tumble VR, Playroom VR & Super Stardust

Been holding off on buying anything (save that EVE deal for $20 that I snagged), because I figure the demo disc will let me know what I really want to play more of.

Did the demos inform you well? Do you feel like your favorite demos were your favorite games/that they gave bites sizable enough to know what you were getting?

So far :

- Playroom VR Platformer
- Job Simulator
- Rez Infinite
- Thumper
- Super Hyper Cube
- Batman
- Battlezone

Rigs and Eve Valkyrie make me sick.
The way we move in Batman is great (teleporting) to bad there are not too many games with this (I want to play The Assembly but I think it will make me sick)

from the 4 hours I spent with demos today

best gameplay: thumper

best VR feel: Batman and Valkyrie

Curious what everyone's opinion as the best first time experience for a casual or non gamer who doesn't get what all the hype is about VR but thinks game visuals are probably at a higher level than they really are. I'm trying to figure out what that go to demo is to show to other people who don't really play games.

Didn't grab one, but a buddy did and I spent a few hours with it today at his place.

1. THUMPER
...
...
...
2. Playroom VR (for the asynchronous gameplay, especially the Saloon game)
3. SuperHyperCube (though I only played a demo months ago)

I didn't try Rez, but nothing else I tried really impressed me.

THUMPER is just sick in general, VR or not. But in VR it's so much more immersive that it actually makes the game considerably easier. I was really in the zone in VR, then I came home and replayed the same levels on a 32 inch TV and kept dying.

Plus, where a lot of the other stuff clearly looks lower res, THUMPER looks just as good, if not better thanks to all the particle effects.

I would say maybe Playroom. The rest aren't all that impressive over time.
Thumper so far has been ok for sure

thanks to all the particle effects.

Particle effects really shine in VR. Thumper and Tumble are two that really stick out in that regard.

My favourites so far have been:

Driveclub
Thumper
Tumble
Eve valkyrie
Rez

Even though I didn't really enjoy Wayward Sky I loved the models, animation and overall perspective and think it is a great proof of concept for games like Torchlight or top down RPG's like Divinity or I am Setsuna to follow in similar footsteps. Still a lot I need/want to play.

Hi,

Did you know that Bound have a free PSVR update? If you had the game, you can check it as well.

We put a lot of work into making it silky smooth and pixel perfect on PSVR :). We have a serious problem in informing people that Bound is also a PSVR game ...

I'll check it out. I loved playing it when it came out.

First, thanks for the PSVR support! I'll definitely give it a try once I get my Pro.
Also kinda off topic but can you share any specifics on how Bound will run on PSVR+PS4 Pro vs just regular PS4? In terms of improvements in the VR space like better fps/internal resolution/etc...

So far

1) Rez
2) Thumper
3) Summer Lesson

Will try Super Hypercube, Rigs and Bound tonight. Only disappointment so far is Drive Club VR. I'm a big fan of the original Driveclub, but this VR version is just a blurry mess

edit:

Super Hypercube is fun and incredibly addictive in a Super Hexagon kind of way, maybe a bit too expensive though.

Rigs is a full game with lots of content, I couldn't find an online match yet but the tutorial and bot matches have been great so far. But this is the kind of game that demands a big time investment and I'm not sure if it's good enough that it will pull me away from Overwatch.

The Kitchen Demo is very effective, I hope RE7 can deliver the same tension in the full game. Amazing VR experience for a horror fan.

Bound is stunning in VR and I've used it to show off PSVR to friends who were equally impressed by it. The camera controls are a problem for me (and them), but the devs are looking into adding an additional mode/some fine-tuning.

Until Dawn is a nice surprise. Feels like the old Midway lightgun game Carnevil crossed with a rollercoaster and some fun Until Dawn easter eggs. I had to recalibrate the Move conrtollers frequently though and couldn't get it to work properly with the Move Shooting Attachment.

And you weren't lying about Playroom and especially Robot Rescue. Great little platforming gem, like a better version of Lucky's Tale without a pro Trump mascot. Hope they turn this into a full game someday, Asobi would be a great PSVR mascot!

updated list:

1) Rez
2) Thumper
3) The Kitchen Demo
4) Bound
5) Super Hypercube
6) Robot Rescue [Playroom VR]
7) Until Dawn
8) Rigs
9) Summer Lesson
10) Headmaster
.
.
last) Driveclub VR

From what I've played. Well... mostly. I have Driveclub VR too but it doesn't deserve to be on any list.

Driveclub is amazing. Assuming it doesn't make you feel ill and enjoyed the original game, the only downside is that it is slightly blurry but when you get to the hypercars that doesn't really matter much except on long straights. Still has great atmosphere and has kept most of the visual features from the original. But if you didn't like the gameplay of the original game then a change of perspective isn't going to change much.

I thought The Assembly supported teleport also?
There's Tomb Raider.

From what I've played:

RIGS

everything else

RIGS is so far ahead of everything with the possibility of Rez. It's incredibly polished and does the best job of any game with immersion. It's corny but I like when your teammates are fist pumping at you after a W.

Also has an incredibly steep learning curve a la Rocket League so I expect I will be putting the game in for months to come.

On Pro we will render 2 times more internal pixels and we will add volumetric fog. We have nice pixel density on regular PS4, comparable to those from Playroom VR and Worlds

If you are interested how Bound is handled in PSVR and know more about the development, and pitfalls of VR game production please check this video that I recorded two days ago:

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
For what I have played so far, Bound is by far the best.

Only played these so far but all have been brilliant, no motion sickness.

Until Dawn R.O.B.
PSVR Worlds
Playroom VR

Really can't describe just how different it is from playing a game on a flat 2D screen, its just incredible!

Very much looking forward to playing it! I bought it a while back and didn't find the time to play, but got excited for it again once I found out it was getting a VR patch.

Would the first play through be better with or without Vr?

You can go straight to VR. We did a lots of tests and pople like it more.
It also good for those who passed it in 2D mode already. The game has 120 ways to play through and each one is different visually. So you won't recognize it.

These are really interesting.

I'm fascinated to hear that you are suggesting increased exposure to "bad" VR can make you MORE sensitive over time. You said you are at the point where even 2d movies can make you queasy so you have to be careful with VR games.

That's a real thing and I'm not surprised to hear it and it actually is the opposite to this idea that people get "VR legs" with use and become more immune.

Obviously your mind may get used to playing well with moving views in good VR but if bad VR makes you more sensitive, not less, it can end up wrecking the market going forward.
