So io psvr hot or not in japan?
It seemed not but I have seen articles with people lining up for it

From what I've seen from my area of Japan, very hot. No units in stores at all, all sold out. Many stores have signs at the front specifically saying that they aren't selling any now and do not know when they will have some to sell. I did however see some VR software at one store but most places didn't even have that. Cameras also seemed to be sold out at many places and no move controllers at all. Ironically I found many places were still placing preorders for the mini famicom which I swore I had read last week was practically sold out in Japan.

So yeah it seems to be hot. Wish I could get one myself but don't got the funds for it yet with all these games coming the next few weeks and with stores saying they have no idea when the next stock will come in I guess it's good I have to wait

GC didn't have bundles as Wii U had

also, how much sold Smash on Wii U ? half of GC version :D

wanna talk about Pikmin ? :D

best 3rd party on WiiU ? MH 200k
best 3rd party on GC ? Naruto 3, 400k

ps : hw difference between GC and Wii U is 800k, I don't see such a "notable less" difference...

pretty sure the discussion was about ww pokemon...lol...

No offense but i'm boring to hear about crazy expectations which in the end are correct or the most close to real.

20 million is a realistic prediction, don't see what's crazy about this, and if you want my opinion, 15/16 million is way crazier.

Most of you expect it to outsell XY if i understand correctly. Well. How much do you think will XY sells in the end? Cause i know many of you with "it will sell more than XY" mean it will sell more than 15m (what XY actually sold so far).

Which is the biggest mistake you can make.

This is massively wrong. Pokémon XY are STILL selling, and not some units, but notable numbers. First of all, it's up YOY quite a lot compared to last year.

POKEMON XY 2015 VS 2016 sales

Code:
[U]2015[/U]
Q1 - 150,000
Q2 - 140,000
Q3 - 160,000
Q4 - 310,000

[U]2016[/U]
Q1 - 240,000 [B](up YOY 60%)[/B]
Q2 - 280,000 [B](up YOY 100%)[/B] <------ this is before Pokémon GO
Q3 - ?
Q4 - ?

With those numbers, some of you really think XY will stop at 15 million?

Is not hard to understand that 16.5 million is absolutely the MINIMUM of what XY will end at. 17-17.5 million is the most likely scenario. Let's just make some (realistic, if not conservate) expectations for this year:

Q3 2016 - 550,000 (about double to last quarter thanks Pokémon GO)
Q4 2016 - 700,000 (a bit more than last quarter because of holidays)

With those two quarter of sales, Pokémon XY is already at >16.2 million. Then, if you think it can't sell another 300k in 2 years and more (an average of under 40k all quarter), i don't really know what tell to you.
Soooooo, using a (realistic) 17-17.5 million lifetime sales for XY... what's crazy about expect only a ~15% increase for MS?

Unless for "more than XY" you guys only mean something like 500k, which seem low... and even in this case, we should see at least something close to 18 million.

I don't know what say more, anything under 18 million for Pokémon MS looks seriusly pessimist. 15 million is the real crazy prediction, 20 million is definitively in the "sanity" range. I can understand a crazy prediction could be +25 million, but let's be serius there is nothing strange to expect 20 million.

...i don't get it?

Mario Kart 8 has outsold by a notable margin Double dush even if Wii U has sold notable less than GameCube.

I'd be glad if you turned out to be right, but I don't see how 20m is possible. The 3DS is getting replaced in five months. No matter how much faster Sun/Moon sell at first, at the end of the day, it will not be able to ride on momentum for the system it's on. X/Y is still selling a non-negligible amount of copies three years later because the 3DS is still selling a lot of systems. The 3DS will be a distant memory in 2019. I don't see how Sun/Moon could get the legs to carry it that far.

For what it's worth, I'm one of the people who don't think it will sell more than X/Y in the first place when all is said and done.

PSVR has a super limited shipment. Being sold out it's not surprising at all and it doesn't mean is highly demanded. It's like the Wii U situation. Sold out, but not being bought by millions of people.

And Summer Lesson not yet released...

Lol. And what can u even discuss on PSVR there when we don't even know how much shipment they got.O_O

Hell, i can't see PSVR doing as good as PS Vita here. Maybe u can tell us on how hot the product is in Japan and is it going to be able to at least reach PS4 number? Rather than being passive aggressive.

I'm sure many stores, especially the smaller ones, didn't order more than what they had preordered from customers. It's an expective product referring to a small part of vg market and they wouldn't want to stock for long something like that. Small shipments depending on the demand should be the normal after initial hype passes.

So, about Yo-kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki, we finally have more details.

Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura are getting the "T Update", which will add the new Busters T mode. It looks like the other new content will remain exclusive to Sukiyaki (at least, that's what the PR implies, since it only mentions the Busters T mode specifically).

As for the linking versions to get bonus Yo-kai, it works as follows:

- Kakusei Enma: Sukiyaki + Sushi + Tempura
- Nurarikami: Sushi + Tempura
- Sendai Enma Daiou: Sukiyaki + Sushi
- Kakusei Hinokami: Sukiyaki + Tempura

The bundle mentioned above is called the Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura Busters T Pack. It's basically the two original versions + the update + download code for rare Yo-kai. Sold about 6 900 Yen, and only available in limited quantities.

022.jpg

I think that's pretty much it? Everything else was aleady leaked from CoroCoro, though the source link has pics for everything.

By the way, I know I'm often talking about this game here but Genius Sonority have announced New Denpa Ningen no RPG, to be released on smartphones in February. F2P game on Nintendo 3DS will keep being supported.

That's nothing compared to the kind of stuff you usually get in the anime:

Anyway, curious about how YW3 sales will fare from now on, since the game is getting an update (not with everything, but with at least the biggest and more important new feature).

Oh really.

Oh, and you know that PSVR is gonna sell much more than MHS, which was the (boring) topic of the last 2 weeks ?

And all the time people are talking about niche games why you don't point out the same thing ?

And last, who are you to decide who is interesting or not interesting to talk about ??

It seems to me you are the one who wants to decide who is interesting or not interesting to talk about PSVR since you are the one who said no one here wants to talk about it.

Since PSVR is so hot, can we expect it to have a better first week or even lifetime than PSP GO in Japan?

Wait, what kind of attach ratio are we expecting for PSVR if it's expected to sell much more than MHS?

I forgot VR is going to save consoles in Japan.#returnoftheking

Lol. I mean, if PSVR sold lesser than this shipment of MHS, it will be another Virtual Boy bomba i guess?

How much does PSP GO did anyway?

It's not a standalone platform though. Its a very expensive peripheral.

The PS4 has only sold 3.3 million so if PSVR was to sell 300k(and match MHS' shipment) that would means just less than 1 in 10 PS4 owners bought one. That would already be a good adoption rate IMO to go much more than that would be amazing, but obviously not impossible.

18M as the bare minimum for Moon/Sun? With 20M as a "realistic prediction"?
You are being too optimistic, the only chance it has to do achieve those numbers is if a NX version with added content is planned to be released in the launch period.

Mega Drive, (my precious) WonderSwan, GC, WiiU may have sold roughly in the same range in Japan but underline there are very marked differences due to very different circumstances presented at the time they were released.

Even if trackers don't share PSVR numbers, we can guess how many units sold, just checking the software position. Of course it won't be precise since there're downloadable games, and some for free. But at least we can have an idea of the hype and interest of the peripheral.

These're the two games we have to pay attention.

[PS4] PlayStation VR Worlds <ETC> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) (¥4.900)
[PS4] RIGS: Mechanized Combat League <RCE> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) (¥6.900)

VR games sales are more interesting anyway since they will dictate software support in the future.

If we look purely by the amount of consoles sold Wii U should be getting lot more support but since that audience refused to buy most of 3rd party releases the software releases dried up. On the other side of spectrum we have Vita which gets abnormally high amount of releases for the number of consoles sold.

PSVR is going to have great support even if the first few waves of software bombs because JP publishers won't want to be left behind again if/when VR becomes the norm. They'll want to be at the forefront to cement their position for the future.

PSVR will have better third party support than NX.

Well Ace Combat 7, Tekken 7, Resident Evil 7 and FFXV are all either playable in VR or have VR modes...

There's probably more games currently announced for PSVR than were released on the Wii U

Wii U also had benefit of doubt from publishers early but that quickly vanished. Since it takes years to make games initial titles are green lighted depending on publisher predictions and if software sales don't meet those predictions then new titles are not put into production.

It really didn't though(at least in Japan). There was no second wave of software for Wii U. In fact after Fist of the North Star did it receive any multiplatform releases?

I had hard time picturing NX had lesser support than PSVR lol. Maybe i am just too pessimistic on this tech here.

On the other hand, on the virtue of NX being handheld, i don't see anyway it will had lesser support vs PSVR here especially in Japan.

No, probably because it was a Nintendo platform. 3rd party PS4 games also bombed to a similar degree upfront but publishers there stuck with the platform and seemed determined to build a marketplace no matter the cost.

Really it's not like 3rd parties did exceptionally on Vita either, in fact they usually did worse than on 3DS, but they also stuck with it. The only system 3rd parties really seemed to do okay on from the start was 3DS and it's arguable if that performance has really been reflected in the support it's seen since in many cases. There's more to platform support than simply how the games sell I guess.

I think that will be less of a factor going forward. Publishers like Level 5 and Square Enix are publicly moving away from handhelds in favour of Smartphones and Consoles and they've been handhelds biggest supporters.

Publishers weren't impressed with the 3DS and a few expressed public dissatisfaction with its sales(And sales of their software). In its first year we had publishers cancelling and delaying games in fact. Nothing so drastic happened with any other platform.

Right, business relations are a big part of it too. I think people underestimate how much of an impact that can have.
Right. Things like royalty reductions, targeted ad spend and other publishing incentives can go a long way for lower installed base platforms. As does good dev and tool support. A lot of this plus the ecosystem approach is likely key to PS4 and Vita punching above their comparative weight in 3rd party support versus a similarly low selling platform like Wii U.

There were delays and cancellations for sure but they seemed to be due to external factors mostly like the Tohoku earthquake or Konami gutting Hudson for example. It was more the traditional western support that was really on a death spiral due to the platform's early performance, at least from what we saw publicly. I wouldn't doubt there was heavy pressure behind the scenes with Japanese publishers to turn the system around but for the most part results seemed pretty favorable even if a decline from DS.

Hey Chris, will you be adding some sort of tag to PSVR Required games?

You know, similar to what you have with Famicom Disk System games.
