I don't know if this counts, but Punch Out arcade is quite a bit different. Of course NES had its own version.

I don't see why this wouldn't count. It's a completely different game and it's due to hardware limitations that they had to completely rework the NES version.

Fuck. We need to bring back brawlers.

Some indie have tried but I haven't seen anything even approaching one of the great Capcom, Sega, or SNK brawlers.

A couple more sprang to mind, but I'm not sure if they had home ports

Dancing Eyes: basically 3D Amidar, except when you uncover square, it makes a lady's clothes come off. Potentially nsfw cartoon pantyshot:

Gaiapolis: it's like an action RPG a cool fantasy vibe

Run N Gun 1 and 2.

Still the best pickup and play basketball game ever made.

SNES got NBA Give N Go which was similar but jut not as good. And it sort of evolved into NBA In The Zone I guess but the original is still the king.

They are for the Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2... and wikipedia does not mention a PAL release =/

There is a PAL version, no worries. Only comes with the international version of the game, though, which is slightly altered, compared to the original Japanese release.

Toki

the saddest part..

they were working on a port for PS3 and X360.. never was released though..

Now, the good news... Toki is on the Amiga, and it's pretty great too. ;)

Yeah, i was expecting it to be ported especially since it basically ran on a PsOne

There's hundreds, i'm posting a few more i think would have worked as console games

The Yakuza series, from Sega no less, features combat mechanics that seem evolved from the first generation of 3d brawlers. Powerful attacks, finishers and weapon usage combined with the technical flair provided by dodging, counters, and reading enemy patterns.

Errr, no.

Gunforce 1 has a Snes port.
Also Growl has been ported to Sega Genesis (Runark).

Toki is correct, Lynx, Genesis and Amiga ports. Amiga being the most faithful to the arcade, Lynx and the worst version, Genesis.

for years I was praying for a port of this on the Saturn. The 2nd stage made it into one of the ganbare goeman Super Famicom/SNES games but I think the full game has been ported for the playstaion portable as salamander portable compilation games.

The japanese game may have different power ups compared to europe/usa?

But I will add gifs just because this is a spectacular looking shewty.

Yeah, actually i just almost remembered about the SNES port of Gunforce. Gunforce 2 was the real deal anyway :p
Never knew Growl was on Genesis.

Toki was also on NES iirc, not sure if it was a port or a rearranged version.

The FC or NES version was some kind of re-adaption, not really a straight port, so it doesn't quite fall in this category.
It's like including Mighty Final Fight in the ports list when talking about Final Fight.

Moonwalker is an isometric contra like game with pallete swaps Michael Jacksons

Holy crap someone else remembers this. This was one of the best arcade beat'em ups I've played and one of the hardest.

Thanks for this incredible thread! An amazing reminder of what a magical place the '90s arcade was. I can practically hear all of the machines vying for aural superiority in my head. Sigh, to be a teenager again.

I wish my son could experience this. Today's arcades just aren't the same.
