Nintendo supports SD cards in Wii, Wii-U and their handhelds why wouldn't they support it in Switch? They aren't Sony.

I can't imagine the tablet having that much internal space i could see the shell that you place it in having a 500GB drive but if it's like wii-u where you can add additional space i am fine with having lower space because SD cards and external drives are dirt cheap.

If there is indeed storage in the dock that would be great. Especially if there is a streamlined way to move your games from dock to tablet and back again. Just load the tablet up with whatever games you want to play on the go and sync with the dock when you return.

Well it has USB 3.0, so I see no reason why it wouldn't support external HDDs and a way to move game data to and fro the portable unit

32gb is good. I never use more than 10gb on any of my devices. I dont want to pay extra for memory ill never use

It's not the same, console quality games take lots of room. Potentially tens of GBs. It will be dependent on SD cards and if digital you likely won't be able to take everything with you at once. This is actually a scenario where physical media has tangible benefits because flash storage hasn't caught up to where we want to be.

Indeed, and if you need it just buy a 250GB SD card, also you guys have to understand that NX games will likely be 720p, so don't expect the 50GB games we now get on PC with 4K textures and everything, after all it's always a Handheld console first, at least for me

Also one of the older leaks from Nate were of Pascal. So that's another wrench unless this is a very old Dev kit.

It's looking like this is a portable SHIELD Android TV with an extra gigabyte of ram. I guess if everyone kept to modest expectations, given that this is Nintendo we're taking about, then this shouldn't have come as a surprise.

Unfortunately rumour threads reached WUST levels and some were predicting a portable Xbox One with an SCD allowing > PS4 level performance.

Also true, didn't think about that, besides sd cards to expand the Switch main memory they could allow to use any usb 3.0 hard disk just like I do on Xbox One, of course you would have those games only when the console is plugged into the dock, but still it's something I can definitely see happen, and would be a great feature

32 GB is fine since you can expand the memory using SD cards. Comparing the Switch to phones without expandable storage really isn't a fair comparison.

I also wonder where DLC/patches will be saved. If it can be saved to the cart than that will further reduce the need to buy a huge SD card.

It will also be nice to have a Nintendo handheld with a decent resolution finally. I don't trust the rest of these specs all that much, so I won't comment on them.

guys maxwell means no HDR
32GB is horrible

What is going on here?

Is it possible that the next gen iPad will blow this out of water?

Im ok with SD card expansion this time around since SD cards are pushing 128/256GB

As long as it supports the latest SD card standard

This specs are the same as that of Tegra X1 which is 512 GFLOPs single precision and 1024 GFLOPs half precision.

It's a bit below 50% of xb1 on paper but obviously would be much better than that in real world perf.

I only believe Emily leaks. I don't think 32gb will be a flavor the Switch will come with.

64 will be base and 128 will be premium.

Edit : unless there is a micro SD card slot. I don't think this has been confirmed or not yet. If there is, 32GB is very possible.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
LOL at people complaining about 32 GB when the thing uses cartridges and SD cards. Come on.

She actually said 32gb internal storage in her blog.

How do you do that? I already use 20 GB on my 3DS and I don't have that many digital games.
I have like 4 vc games, captain toad, hyrule warriors and pikmin 3 on my wiiu.
Only have the ambassador games on my 3ds. And i only have 5 xbla games for my 360. Still using my og 20gb hdd.

Have you been gaming on PC or current generation consoles? Most of the big games are ranging in the 30-60 GB lately... If Switch is to get those multiplatform games, you will have to get extra memory.

An iPhone has a 256GB sku and is smaller and thinner than this device.

flash storage is super small and for all purposes its physical size doesn't matter

price is the real problem

extra SD cards or not, they are gonna have to support people using only the default 32GB config (and I assume a bunch of that is used by the OS) so there's gonna be a size limit on patches

I call fake. Here's Nvidia's press release:

That's Pascal, folks.

Not necessarily. It could be this kind of PR: "based on GeForce graphics cards' architecture and GeForce graphics cards are the world's top performing." Also, Wii U used 40 nm when 28 nm was an option. IIRC this 16 nm chip will have been out only slightly longer this time - though it was delayed for software so not necessarily even planned as such - but I can see Nintendo going 28 nm regardless to save money.

People are going to have so much fun keeping track of cartridges and SD cards and three different parts for a controller.

It's like saying Wii failed because people couldn't keep track of game discs, SD cards and their Wiimote + nunchuck. You change games infrequently and they are stored with the system, SD cards will switch maybe once for most people, controllers actually attach to the system making them among the hardest to lose.

Tegra X1 was 20nm. It's either 20nm or 16nm. No way they went 28nm in a tablet without a portable air conditioner.

I do game on PC but unlike the switch i cant insert a cartridge in my PC and play doom right away. Was talking about non pc devices like my phone, game consoles, handhelds.

Tbh im surprised by how many ppl dont have space. Its very baffling.

Why would you assume that?

The XBO is a home console that's not constrained by the battery and thermal considerations of a mobile device with a built in display. It also has over twice the memory bandwidth of a TX1, and that's before you take esram into account.

At least you want to believe

I really hope that this is just pessimism and not a hint. I'm not expecting anything more powerful than this at least in terms of GPU, but that RAM (both bandwidth and capacity) and only quad-core CPU are death sentences for third-party support. Well, the CPU isn't that bad I guess. 20nm sucks ass though.

I personally don't care about the 32 GB, seems non usable OS only memory, will probably be like 3DS and come with a 32GB SD card where patches will install.

Of course the included SD card will be insufficient, so you'll need to buy a 128 out 256 GB one, leave it in there and forget about it.

weren't Nintendo forced to use 40nm on the wii u due to the edram? and with other systems they've been much more up to date with their nodes?
