Have been super stoked for this game. Need something a little less serious, but I played the demo and....I don't know. It just didn't click with me.

Don't really know why or have a particular complaint....I just turned it off with a big feeling of "Meh".

Probably not day one but I'll definitely buy it when I have more time

I can stream some for you later today if that might give you a better idea.

Idk if it's because I tried the PS4 demo first, but the Vita's performance felt pretty bad. Low framerates in the field, slightly worse lag in the party menus, and horrible resolution. To its credit, the battle performance felt the same as PS4.

Conflicted between having more opportunities to play on Vita vs the technical performance on PS4.

Give it a shot with combat turned to 5 for speed, active mode, and classic menu. If it still doesn't click, then that's that.

Will try this later tonight, thanks.

On another note, browsing this thread and trying to find out what benefit chibi mode has over normal mode, can't seem to see any?

Chibi mode lets you use Large mirages, while Jiant mode lets you use Medium mirages. You might have better abilities on a Large mirage, so chibi mode for that.

Just mute everything, best ways to play rpgs /s
Mute the game so you don't hear the awful voices, skip the cutscenes so you don't experience the terrible story, fast forward through the boring battles to make them more tolerable... might as well just skip the whole game. That's what I'm leaning toward anyway.

It is a way different config of mirage... bigger/stronger mirages can't be used in normal mode.

Do we know how many mirages are in the game?

I found this primaguides advertisement for a double sided poster that serves as an "at-a-glance reference for every mirage in the game".
80

If you count it's 9x12 per side with at least a 3x4 space missing in the front, leaving us with at most 9x12x2 - 3x4 = 204 max mirages assuming the back is filled up. This is counting all transmogrifications since I can see the different-sized Cactuars near the bottom right.

gave it another go with faster battle speed, classic battle menus....and it was good fun. Caught a Behemoth and as otehrs have said, it's great running round the map on it!

Tried my damnedest to capture the boss but she kept breaking free so I just killed her. Now to decide whether I want to pre-order this :hmm:

I thought the game was to be released in a few days, why is it already available?

That's just the "pre-load" ahead of time so that when the game is supposed to be available, it unlocks on the PS4 desktop and you can start using it straight away, rather than having to download it on the day, and then wait until it's finished, then installed so you can play it.

It may not be as social, but I actually prefer this kind of midnight launch to the normal, "line up at store, at night, in autumn/winter," scenario.

You just reminded me that I picked the WoFF e-Guide when Prima was doing their free e-Guide giveaway.

QFT, nothing to add.

Not that I'm playing the demo again, but is it possible to catch multiple copies of the same mirage? I couldn't get them to stagger again.

When you catch a Mirage, you can unlock a prism to catch another Mirage of the same time through the Mirage Boards.

So you catch a Moogle, you spend SP on it's Mirage Board, as will give you a Moogle Prism so you can catch another one.

In the main game you should be able to get more via the shops, chests, and coliseum.

Whoever makes the OT, needs to make a PSA and tell people to adjust options before they start. Game battle speed to 5, and classic menu lay out are a must. Also. R1 to fast forward. People don't even know to do it sometimes.

This is a pretty good idea. Especially considering how much of a difference it makes experience wise.

I had BIG concerns about this based on the trailers for the combat system. Thankfully, all of my fears were completely alleviated. The R1 speed up for battle is a god send. I enjoyed the demo and I'm very much looking forward to playing this on release.

Played a little more of the demo before deleting. Not gonna buy day one but probably will eventually at price drop. FFXV can't come soon enough.

Played through and finished the demo, and I did NOT know there was an Active Battle mode available.

Maybe it was for the best as I was trying to figure out how stacking worked on the menu and during battle (was expecting something from Bravely Default, lol).

It's alright, VA is ok with some cringy dialogue (the companion's -the tic may get overbearing after a while) and its nice to hear VAs from Dissidia voice characters here.

Disturbing lack of FFXII representation though even with the Mandragora enemy.

The not-Classic Menu is pretty confusing and I found Classic Menu to be much better since I can find everything there with nothing left out. Battles are very traditional with stacking mixing things up a bit. Capturing monsters can be a fun minigame but managing them can be a pain if you caught many and want to upgrade. Eww random encounters.

Not sure if I want to drop $60 for this though.

Seriously? That's surprising in this day of fast battle preference.
When a game is turn-based, I want as much time as possible to make decisions. If a game is realtime/action-based, then I don't want it pausing every time it's time to take action.

The fact that this game makes you wait for time to pass no matter what is strange. The fast-forward button is even stranger in that it seems like something S-E/Tose included to help mitigate the annoyance of waiting, instead of simply committing to removing the passage of time in Wait mode. It's a very confusing design choice to me, to say the least. I do hope it's something that's improved/patched in the future.

Those mandragoras are from XI though.

It's not. Players move along the turn bar based on their Agility. There are also other mechanics that puts the player along middle or 70% of the turn bar, and then they race to the top to see who wins the turn. Your tactics change based on if you would win a turn or not.

You just need to explore the combat system a bit more to understand.

I guess thats where the whole ATB system comes into play. Back in the day, Square wanted to find a happy medium I suppose? And this brings in the Grandia style speed bar, which was a nice addition to the world of turn based mechanics. Honestly i'd have wanted to see a main series FF run with this, but i'll take what I can get.
