Custom Configuration Files

Similar to the first game, Titanfall 2 allows users to execute a .cfg file containing console commands on startup. As the game runs on a modified Source engine, the console commands are almost always the same as those found in standard Source games. Some commands are locked down, and cannot be changed.

For example, having a file containing the command "cl_showfps 1" in a file named "autoexec.cfg" located at "Titanfall2/r2/autoexec.cfg" and then adding "+exec autoexec.cfg" to your launch options to run the file will enable a FPS counter in the corner of the screen.

Experiment with configurations and share them with others!

Example config:
Code:
m_rawinput 1
cl_showfps 1
cl_showpos 2

Useful Launch Options
Note: these options are meant to be added in the "Advanced Launch Options" tab of the "Game Properties" option in Origin. Options with a "+" in front can be placed into a configuration file executed with the "+exec" launch option.
-high: Launch the game with high CPU priority.
-novid: Skip the intro logos.
-fullscreen: Launch the game in fullscreen mode.
-windowed: Launch the game in windowed mode.
-noborder: Launch the game in borderless mode. Combine with -windowed to get borderless fullscreen.
-height/-width <value>: Set the resolution of the game. Use this if your resolution is capped to a low value in the in-game options.
+cl_showfps 1: Shows FPS in the top right corner.
+cl_showpos 2: Show information about your player's position, such as their current velocity, in the top left corner.
+m_rawinput 1: Enable raw mouse input.
+exec <file>: Run the file specified (must be in the Titanfall2/r2 directory) at startup in the game's console.

Issues and Workarounds

- Capped Resolution: If you're getting locked into a resolution lower than that of your monitor, add -height <value> -width <value> to your launch options, where the values correspond to your desired resolution.
- Removing Film Grain: This doesn't seem to be a true film grain effect, so it seemingly can't be disabled outright. Decrease the brightness in the options to slightly mitigate it.

Should not be allowed to breed
It should run well.

But its crazy how BF1 looks more visually closer to yesterdays cgi trailer than the titanfall game itself.

Anyone using controller much for PC who's had an early copy of the game? Aim-Assist and such the same as on the consoles?

I'm keen to play this with my Elite, but if there's no assist....then death will be certain in every encounter with KB+M no doubt.

Office rig:

i5 4590
24GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 960 4GB OC @ 1.49GHz
Game installed on HDD

Mostly 60fps at default settings which is high/max across the board, with TAA, framepacing feels a bit uneven, locking it to 60 with RTSS and disabling vsync fixed the issue, game looks great and performance is fantastic. No borderless fullscreen though.

First game did and even BF1 has controller assist. I am almost certain it does since a youtuber called gamesager played at the PC event with a controller.

What's the word on DRM? Denuvo?

Good to hear about performance, but darn, I was really hoping they'd get around to including borderless fullscreen this time around.

Getting "Error: the VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. setup cannot continue (1601)" every time I try to install the pre-load on PC. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?
Getting this error too. Lame.

Edit: Think I fixed. I had to remove the VC from the 2010 folder. Should be something like Origin/Titanfall 2/Installer/VC/Vc2010SP1/Redist.

Should be an x64 exe in there, when i tried it manually, a repair would fail. Remove it and then reinstalling it allowd Origin to seemingly finished the preload.

Quoting from the OT, in case anyone else gets a VC+++ runtime error. Haven't VPNed to see if it actually is working now, but Origin is at least acting like it is preloaded.

Titanfall 1 just had a bunch of checks to connect to Origin on startup and in game. I'm guessing that's the same here too.

EDIT: Ah, it does look like it has Denuvo; the server.dll file cites it.

If a VC++ Redistributable is failing to install/repair, that might be indicative of a larger issue. Lemme know if the game runs fine for you when you get around to playing it.

I will report back later. It actually appears to be a super common Origin problem, to the point where they have it as one of their Help Answers. Looks like a lot of people had the issue with BF4.

Ahhhhh, that new thread smell.

Smells like 1080s too.

I'm hoping for Ultra 1080p 60fps on a 6700K/980 SC

Was pleasantly surprised at how well TF1 ran on my then 4 year old i7 and 780.

This may be a stupid question but does anyone intend to play this using a controller on PC? Debating between PS4 & PC.

Controller guy here. Held my own all the way through 50G10 on R1. Never had any issues. TTK being shorter than something like Overwatch makes this less of an issue imho.

K, PC version bought. I don't think it'll download before it unlocks on Xbox but I'm willing to do a performance demo.

My brother is playing right (I'm at work) and he says his resolution is stuck on 720p. He's playing on a 1440p monitor and can't change the res. Anyone having similar issues.

Playing at 1440p with maxed settings and TSAA, the tutorial ran at about 120-130 FPS and the first level of the game seems to be hovering around 90-100. Seems well optimized, not tried MP yet.

One thing I don't like is that ADS runs on a different (lower) sensitivity to normal aiming, and there doesn't seem to be an option to change that.

MSAA 8x seemed to drop the FPS by about 10-15 frames, makes sense since it is Source I guess.

Nice! Ok, sounds good then: hopefully I can still be competitive using the controller :)

The movement of the first one lent itself really well to controller so I'm thinking it'll be great.

Can you have him try adding -height 1440 -width 2560 to his launch options (assuming he has a 16:9 1440p monitor)?

You can also try messing with the videoconfig.txt file in Documents\Respawn\Titanfall2\local.

So yeah if you get the VC++ error and "fix" it you have to verify cache / repair the game, as at that point the game will stop the download thinking it is installed (I think this is the lowest playable point at around 45 percent), but Origin will not try to finish it itself. Can be done after disconnecting VPN.

Okay, I'm getting around 90-100FPS in outdoor scenarios, 144 FPS inside, at 1440p. Everything's maxed out, except VSync is off (I have a G-SYNC monitor). Haven't noticed any hitching or the like yet.

My specs:
i5 4690K @ 4.5GHz
GTX 1080 2000/5152
16GB RAM @ 2400MHz
Installed on 7200 RPM HDD

Is there an easy way to downsample this? Resolution options seem limited. Guessing this is a holdover from Source?

Also the film grain is way too strong in this game and needs a toggle.
