Eidos Montreal? Awesome.

Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raiders have been awful. I guess they'll have to keep some things similar though.

Really?

Never liked Tomb Raider, until Crystal Dynamics developed Tomb Raider: Legend.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the best action-adventures on the market.

Lime you keep dashing my hopes and dreams of an older Lara Croft game focused on platforming and puzzle solving :/

Game budgets have become too big to warrant a platform- and puzzle-focused title. I wish Crystal Dynamics and/or Square Enix (Eidos branch) thought a bit more highly of their consumers/audience and didn't make game designs that spoke down to players, but I assume they are too afraid of losing money if they don't make the game as check-listed as other AAA shooters. At least we get to enjoy the pretty expensive graphics, I guess? :)

The Lara Croft brand that SE seems to 'allow' is perhaps your only hope for the Tomb Raider platforming and puzzling to appear in video game form. Although I don't know what the status of this is after GO and Temple of Osiris.

Maybe the folks at Eidos Montreal will be smart enough to realize that shaky cam ALL THE TIME EVEN IN MENUS and an auto-centering camera are stupid design decisions. Unless they fix that aspect, count me out of the next TR game.

Oh and reduce the number of lootable objects in the game and increase the amount you get from them instead. The damned map is littered with things to loot and you get 1 or 2 pieces of whatever it is. And yeah, they're all pretty much mandatory if you want the materials to upgrade your weapons. And all the side missions are terrible. And yeah, they're pretty much mandatory too if you want XP to unlock skills. Speaking of skills, try to make more useful ones and reduce the total number if you have to. The majority of skills were useless in RotTR.

Hope its another reboot.

CD's recent take on the franchise is closer to Rambo then Tomb Raider.

They don't mean the Deus Ex team, do they? Probably the Thief team?

Edios had 2 Deus Ex teams. One was working on the sequel to Mankind Divided to try get it out earlier this time.

After Mankind Divided's terrible sales though... One has to wonder if that sequel is still going ahead

It can be turned off. At least on PC.

It's called Shadow of the Tomb Raider and uses the same logo of the current "reboot". It'll be a sequel for sure.

I agree about the Rambo thing, but forget about it Jake, it's AAA. Money talks.

Really hope it's not subject to exclusivity deals again. Oh and they actually try and optimise the PC port.

1 ran brilliantly on PC, 2 was absolute garbage performance wise.

That's my concern too. Mankind Divided felt very much like a "middle chapter", so not getting any real kind of closure to that would really suck.

For those wondering what Crystal Dynamics might do now: (thanks to Nirolak for posting this back in April)

As far as I can tell, Crystal Dynamics is also still on this game. They just hired Ian Milham to direct the next Tomb Raider and he's out of Crystal.

It's probably much more of a joint production than previously though.

Crystal is looking into a new IP as well, and having Eidos Montreal make 50% or 70% of this game or whatever frees up a lot of staff to work on that.

Hope it being developed by Ubisoft is true. I want the old Tomb Raider, the recent two reboot games left a sour taste for me didn't like it

^ Lmao. XD

If anything CD made Tomb Raider relevant again.

Ppl fail to see this. And that GP/fans generally love both games. And i don't even want to talk about the critics, i mean reviews and scores speak for themselves enough.

Haters, or player that are nostalgic will hate no matter what.

Rise of the Tomb raider is trash-tier generic action game design wit too much money thrown against it. CD should be fucking embarrased for taking this legendary franchise into his direction.

The new movie will be based on the recent games (at least in style), so yeah, they're definitely making a sequel with the same approach. It's all about money in the end.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's Edios who's apparently developing it, and I'm guessing Square Enix is publishing again.
Where did you get Ubisoft from?

Just because I don't share your same biased opinion for Tomb Raider makes me a hater? Sure thing dude whatever you say

Will buy.

Especially now that Uncharted is done, it's great that these games (which are better anyway) will continue to exist. The tomb raider games post 2013 are fucking amazing.

What will happen to Deus Ex?
Eidos Montreal is around 500 staff with over 300 of them being developers, so presumably it's something like Eidos Montreal and Crytal Dynamics offering in 100 staff each while the other staff works on Deus Ex and the New IP respectively.

I'am pretty excited to see where they go with the next game, I thought Rise was an improvement in every way over the first game.

They did a commendable visual update, but their characterization turned Croft into an exhausted and fragile coming-of-age Young Adult character that You'll Want To Protect for now two whole games.

I really don't think Lara is frail and fragile when I played the reboot nor do I think it set female representation back. If anything during the original series, with no Metroid game at the time and Lara Croft being treated as a pinup model that made its original creator left, that set female representation back at least a decade if not more.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was masterful, and easily among the best action-adventure games of this gen so far. It's the best Uncharted game ever made.

That said, I'm interested to see what a new developer could add to CD's formula. RotR is a perfection of the ideas put forward in the reboot. If Montreal has some new ideas, I'm all ears.

Where did you get Ubisoft from?

A couple people joked about it being from Ubisoft because some an AC game leaked in a similar way on a plane.

Meh x Meh = ...?
Maybe slightly better than meh.
Don't know much in the book, nor do I know fully of what going on with the comic recently but:

Even through Lara interrupted the ritual, Himiko was able to take control of Sam later. This ends up putting her into a mental ward and in more recent events, killed a nurse and escaped with a few other patients.

Apparently what is going on now is
that she is planning to return to Yamatai.
I see. Thanks.

And they were working only on one Deus Ex game in the past 5 years? Damn!
