Laura Kate Dale : March 17th is Nintendo Switch's release date

I said March 19 last week in a video. The timing fits with Nintendo's previous timing pattern between a 'Launch Direct' and the release date. Both Wii U and 3DS launched 65-66 days following their Launch Direct presentations. Launching March 17 fits that schedule. It gives them a couple of weeks of sales time before the FY ends.

Didn't I say 3rd week of march? lol

17th of March huh?

Would Capcom really launch MonHun on 3DS-only the same day as Switch? In the same way would Nintendo let Capcom pretty much leak the release date?

We're not supposed to deduct that.

Just like we're not supposed to deduct that Zelda has been delayed because of the Switch and its release on launch. I believe Nintendo think we're stupid or something.

Lol..

It's kind of fucked up for Nintendo. This chick along with Euro gamer stole all of Nintendo's Thunder. Straight assassinated Nintendo's hype before it could even begin.

I'm both grateful and annoyed by the leaks.

True, but Nintendo should be thankful that we only got the leaks that we did. I don't know how they kept the system as concealed as they did for so long. Had it been any other tech company, we would've had full system or dev kit pics and everything with launch being only 5 months away...

Zelda, Monster Hunter, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Skyrim Remastered...Now THAT would be a launch line-up.

I think that's far too many heavy hitters at launch

Atleast spread that shit out

Launch
Zelda
Monster Hunter
NBA
FIFA

April
Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Splatoon

May
Mario Kart Switch

Nintendo is supposedly going all out. Heavy hitters every month or 2.

Edit: you left Smash 4 off the list

Exact release date is leaked but no launch game at all? Come on, at least someone should say Pokkén Ultimate is coming on launch day.

Yes but having 4 big games at the same time will basically take away sales from eachother.

I know of I had the option for Zelda, Skyrim, Splatoon, Mario Kart.

I'd pick Zelda and Mario Kart and pick Splatoon and Elder Scrolls down the line for cheap or used.

Who the fuck has time for a open world Zelda and a Elder Scrolls game.

The problem is that the more you wait for The Elders Scrolls (or any late port on the Switch), the more the potential sales will go down because it will be cheaper on other platforms. That's why I think TES will be at launch.

Splatoon and MH seems like the way to make Japan go crazy so they might put them at launch too.

And there's Zelda for the west. Mario Kart can easily release later, like during the summer.

Sounds about right. Friday console launch is gonna be siiiiiiiiiiiiiick.

also, 2 weeks to sell 2 million. can it be done?

I agree with those saying Switch shouldn't blow its entire load at launch.

If I were Nintendo, this is what I'd do:

Day One
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (long-awaited single-player RPG/adventure game in established franchise)
- Splatoon (online multiplayer shooter in relatively fresh IP remixed with new content)
- New IP aimed at people outside of 3DS/Wii U audience (new local multiplayer IP ideally)
- Monster Hunter Generations X
- Whatever else third parties want to have at launch

April
- Literally anything we don't already know about would do here

May
- Mario Kart (second online/local multiplayer game, established franchise)

June/July
- Something else we don't already know about (Animal Crossing?)

August
- Another established single-player IP (Pikmin?)

September
- Super Smash Bros.

October
- Anything (Mario Maker?)

November
- 3D Super Mario

I doubt nintendo care. Smash, Splatoon and Mario Kart are essentially Wii U ports so they are already profitable or Nintendo. Meanwhile Nintendo needs to build an installbase as quickly as possible to stay relevant.

If having 4 big first party games at launch ensures 10M Switches sell by June theyd be crazy not to.

We are talking about the last real effort for Nintendo to make headway with their console. They have a streamlined single system to release all their games on.

I say blow the wad. Fucking blow it. Drop the fucking bomb in January.

Give it to meeee.

Also lol at people believing Mario Kart will release that fast on Switch. I'd say it would be a 2018 release.
