I think I trust benny_a more on Activision things than I trust you on Dead Island things.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1285325

Don't be so sure about that. You act like I don't have Dead Island 2 (this is actually verifiable if you really wanna see it). Plus Destiny 2 coming to PC wasn't some new news it's been publically known for a very long time. It was in the leaked contract, among other things.

Ah looking at the Xbox app, Phil Spencer clearly unlocked an achievement for the PC version.

Just checked the App Again looks like it updated.

EDIT: Nevermind the Xbox App is having troubles understanding there are 2 versions of the game.

I am very disappointed in how many people are not getting the City Boy On A Train reference in here.

Also god damn, the Win 10 Store version is already dead if true.

If that's the reference then it flew over my head. I need those in caps like you did. That or just name-drop Buttocks.

For you.
There's Steam achievements so it def using Steamworks.

Well, steam achievements doesn't necessarily mean it uses steamworks servers for online. Steamworks is a group of several features and those features can be implemented individually as per choice of the dev. So a game can have steam achievements and not use steamworks for online play.
Of course, in this case, it's 99.999999% steamworks like every other code since BO1

Yeah that's true. I'm just thinking if they bothered to use Steam Achievements I'm guessing they went full Steamworks like every other game.

I mean, even if it weren't real, why would anyone make this rumor up? It's a day from release, and it's not like the UWP version of a game that has already struggled with maintaining its PC audience was going to have mass appeal. Like who's the target of this rumor? The very select few that staunchly defend all things UWP? All 14 of you?

Phil Spencer is currently playing the Windows Store version of Infinite Warfare on his gamer tag, P3. The game has its own separate achievement list, so its not play anywhere
I see a person all the time on my friends list saying he's playing Overwatch (PC), but that's obviously not on the Windows store. The achievement makes it a little juicy I guess. If it's not even available for pre-order/pre-load, then I don't really beleeb it

I was actually a little miffed when I saw it. I wanted to do a dumb reference to that song.

The app adds and removes the qualifier for PC games for seemingly no reason.

The Xbox app detects a number of Win32 games. I can play Bioshock Remastered on steam and have that info surfaced to my Xbox friends list, for example.

Imagine how fucked some gamers are going to be that buy on the Microsoft Store only to have to rebuy on Steam to play against people. They'll never buy from the MS store again.

Why would anyone buy the Windows 10 version?

If anything at the very least the W10 version should have cross play with the XBO version though then you run into the KB/M vs Controller problem.

Yeah, any W10 game should be cross play, period. That's the only way this will work. In the game you should be given the option to filter in/out control schemes you want to go against.

Albert Fish would buy the Windows store version.

It's only slightly more irritating than sticking needles into your scrotum.

I think some of us got it, but it's not really relevant to the bigger discussion.

Raid matchmaking was in the contract as well?

Not sure I never read the whole thing, but it says in the contract that Destiny is going to have 4 games each with 3 "Comets", and a fourth one if needed.

The release plan for each game was 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, with dlc to drop on Fall 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020. But I guess thats not going to happen. Seeing as everything was pushed back a full year. It also explicitly says that Destiny will be on 6 platforms, then Destiny 2 will drop on "next-gen" including PC. They had included PS3/360, but those have been dropped.

It also mentions that after the release of the 4th expansion games will be supported for another 3 years.

I'm only now reading this full contract lol

EDIT:

Bungie also have the rights to create spins offs of Destiny on whatever platform they feel like. That and those conversions can be done by an Activision subsidiary, what's really interesting is that they specifically mention that Valve, Epic, and Gearbox can not be one of those developers.

Apparently if Halo Reach failed to reach certain milestones Activision would back out.

Achievements?

Microsoft Credit?

First one isn't a decent reason. Second one only really works if someone bought you a gift card or something I guess. No one in their right mind should buy it on the MS store over Steam.

I appreciate that you took the time to read the contract and post its content here, but my comment was a snark (which I feel bad about it now).

Contracts will never talk about gameplay stuff, so when I asked if this leaked contract mentioned Raid matchmaking obviously I was joking, and what I really meant is that benny got that info from somewhere else.

No. No cross play. It's not a Play Anywhere game.
It can NOT be play anywhere but still have cross play though. Rocket League isn't Play Anywhere and has PC cross play. If you're only coming to the conclusion it has no cross play because of that then that isn't true. If you are saying it doesn't have cross play because someone specifically said that then that's fine, but don't confuse the two

Disregarding the stupidity of a Windows 10 version without cross buy and save with Xbox One, if it doesn't at least match up with Xbox owners over Xbox LIVE matches, or at least private matches, (via opt in on console or whatever) then that is damn right laughable haha

Point taken.

To make it clear:
It is not Play Anywhere
And it is also not cross play between Win10store and Xbone

Okay there we go :p

Sorry to bring semantics in, it just confused me a little

And damn, that is downright laughable then LOL.

Why is this a thing??? No amount of money could make this worth it

I'm more surprised that Activision wouldn't say anything about a winstore verion, unless it is indeed left to die on purpose

Well yeah thats what the comment seemed like, but honestly more people should know about all the stuff in this contract. There's a picture of the milestones they had to pass to stay in the contract with Activision.

I can't understand, for the life of me, why Activision would release COD:IW on the Windows store, but not utilize the cross network capabilities MS has implemented.

The uwp port is probably a wasted effort, but to put their customers in and island like that seems cruel.

I will take that bet....100% the other way...no way Microsoft would take them game if there was that stipulation

Only thing i can think of is activision is publishing it on the windows store for a laugh (which microsoft couldnt' stop them from doing)

EDIT: also bizarre is why wouldn't we hear anything concrete on this version if the game is coming out tomorrow? The whole thing seems unlikely to happen
I can't wait to read your reasoning why this Steam / Windows Store split is actually a really fantastic idea in tomorrows thread confirming the OP's statement.

I've skimmed the thread. Is there any substantive info that this is true?

If it were true as stated, that would be idiotic, but it sounds like it could just as easily be "concerned" hand-wringing at an imagined worst-case scenario.

Edit: Dayum. That's super dumb.
