Key to Return Hearts, hmm...

Original source.

Does anyone care about the story all that much? *EDIT* ( of course they do!)
It is hands down the most convoluted/confusing story in any video game ^_^; or maybe is because I never played the other versions and only played 1 & 2.

Couldn't they just kept it simple and clean - ying and yang ?

After 3D, nope shit it trashed.

Like Naruto it's just getting closure for this shit.

Kairi still getting no shine whatsoever lol. Isn't she a keyblade wielder now too? Has she not done anything noteworthy yet?

She's learning to fight when Riku and Sora have been through at least 4 main adventures and countless battles.

She's getting captured at some point.

At least we have Aqua.

"The story is so convoluted!" Like, these games are written for children and it's pretty easy to follow along

This is a series of jrpgs, 7 games long (more if you count loosely related stuff like the phone games), all of them 30+ hours long

Try jumping into any anime 200 hours in and see how much you have to catch up on

Edit: the biggest flaw of the series is the numbering. I mean, how can they even release the game with the title of Kingdom Hearts 3 when the game will expect the player to remember the events of (at the very least) 6 prior games. They pulled this same shit with KH2 which didn't even recap Chain of Memories, leaving PS2 only players not knowing wtf was going on.

This doesn't explain anything...

Totally does, xehanort has like eleven copies of himself (or eleven "pieces of dark" ) and getting seven heroes (or "pieces of light" ) is the only real way to stop them

The pieces of light and dark combined will make the X blade which is some huge sword or something and idk I guess they'd slice the villain

Key to return hearts is important since when a heartless kills someone they steal their heart and then hearts are used to make the big monsters, also hearts released from defeated heartless are absorbed into kingdom hearts

So I would assume that you finally unlock kingdom hearts and return all the stolen hearts and worlds since the start of the series' story and that'd be the obvious hard end the game seems like it's implying

Awwww. Sora's all grown up now! It's crazy to think how much he has gone through. I can't wait for this game so that we can finally end this Xehanort saga.

It'll probably just leave us with 10x the more questions than answers though.

Battle scared... either Aqua or Terra

It'd have to be Aqua, wouldn't it? Terra and Ven would be the ones Sora needs the special Key to return the hearts to? I kind of assumed the 'Guardians of Light' were synonymous with just whoever's left who can wield a keyblade, so:

Sora
Riku
Mickey
Kairi
Axel
Aqua
Ven (needs to be saved)
Terra (needs to be saved)

I'm not sure how it's going to work now if there's seven of them only though. There's six without Ven and Terra, but eight with them. If it's not these characters are they going to introduce brand new characters to be Guardians of Light? Would they be Disney characters?

Rumours have gone round that characters from the mobile game might make an entrance. Haven't played the game myself so would prefer if near to no mention is made. I'm expecting axel to not be a warrior of light. His battle with xehanort isn't that personal as much as just wanting roxas back and maybe sort saix out.

Yep, people skip entire games (not that I could blame them) because several were on handhelds and then complain it's confusing. Now that they're all going to be on PS3/4 if you're still confused you might want to work on reading comprehension.

Are there actual characters in the mobile game? I got bored of it rather quickly and assumed it was just the heads of the guilds for original characters.

They teased this so much in DDD
Sora's gonna find a way to free the hearts trapped inside him, Ventus, Roxas and Xion, I guess the last two don't technically have hearts. And they're gonna find a way to separate Terra's heart from Xehanort's.

This implies that anime by it's very nature HAS to be convoluted. Or that a long running show has to be convoluted, neither are true. Nomura is just a terrible writer. I love this "Xehanort planned everything" bullshit, like, what part of Winnie the pooh losing all the pages to his book and Sora has to collect them is part of that plan? Or clones of teenagers being made. The plot literally doesn't make sense. They're written for children, but have some of the most convoluted twists in gaming ever that probably make Kojima blush and he created an entire game for the sole purpose of explaining a plothole in a MSX game. -_- You could jump into something like the witcher 3, which is a continuation of a series that had several books, and not be confused whatsoever due to the story being told incredibly well. Hell you could even watch the final harry potter movie and not be super confused about who's the bad guy, what the objective is, the twists and such.

NOPE, they do now because reasons

Maybe Xehanort has too strong a grip on Terra that they won't save him until the very end, so he wouldn't be considered as one of the seven.

Which would just leave Ven. So Sora's story would be trying to find a way to bring back Ven's heart and Riku/Mickey would be trying to find Aqua so they can find Ven himself? It works, though the way it's written makes it sound like more of a 'find the Princesses of Heart' thing where you'd need to find multiple.

Ah. There you go. I do wonder how this will all effect the plot of the Disney worlds. I guess Sora can just be jumping around randomly going 'do you have this thing I need?' to people and then get caught up saving them from Heartless.

Man, I do not want to play those side stories. Is it going to be impossible to follow the story if I only played the numbered entries?

If you really don't want to you can look up a video on youtube explaining the story. Some don't go too much in depth, you can ask me any questions that you have after watching the video.

Look up Gametrailer's "Kingdom Hearts Timeline" video to catch up on the series if you don't want to play the other stuff. You'll be confused going in KH3 if you've only played 1 and 2. Series has been developing more story for over 10 years now.

You should really play Birth by Sleep and DDD tho
