Hmm.

Of these 4 Ratchet & Clank shots, 1 is from the latest patch, 3 are from before the patch. I've deliberately not picked images that are in the same place. Who can see the difference? Note. These are all just from a PS4, not a Pro.

That's damn good, btw. I don't care about bells and whistles, give me that IQ for all games at 1080p and i'm gooooooolden.

Those shots are some of the most taxing shots in the game, so the PS4 will be reducing res pretty heavily, more than usual. PackAPunchedMick, you should also do some comparison shots looking towards the ground or towards the outside of the map to insure the game hits its max 1000p. The training level should also hit max res in most views. Ex: Main Menu -> Campaign -> Mission Select -> The Pilot's Gauntlet -> Gauntlet Practice Only - the default view hits full res on PS4. That should replicate exactly on both consoles for an exact comparison.

Of course your shots are still useful to show that where the PS4 is getting taxed the PSPro is laughing. Nice post!

1, 2, 4 have quite a lot of small jaggies on rounded edges, 3 is smoother so i'd say 3

What a beast of a console. I was gonna just pick up a normie PS4 for Horizon if it's as good as I think it'll be since I don't have a 4K tv, but I might as well just get the Pro if games like this look so good downsampled.

Pretty much. Been downsampling for a year or two now on PC and supersampled 1080p is ridiculously nice looking. Nothing like playable bullshot games.

GTAV downsampled to 1080p with perfect bullshot IQ is pretty much the best looking open world ever imo. The Arkham games look really nice supersampled as well.

The thing is, I think you have to do a single shot from one game, but have a bunch of shots from different games. With four shots of Ratchet, you can do comparisons still.

Walmart is giving $178.88 for a ps4 with controller, that'll be the best folks can get with trade-in which is pretty good.

Yeah TF2 is kind of an extreme example and people shouldn't expect that big a difference in every game but it shows how much sub 1080p games can benefit from the Pro

Going forward though, games won't be less demanding and more likely be the other way around.

I think its a decent example. Even if a PS4 game gets to native 1080p and isn't sub HD blurry, Pro will be able to push the framebuffer that much higher and cleaner. Even at such a taxing scene on OG PS4 which causes it to drop from native res, Pro still renders far above 1080p

I can pick out the 5 supersampled pics from the 15 base PS4 pics of different games with different developer preferences on IQ, so I get a cookie? Pls, I'm fat enough lol

Probably won't ever pick up a PS4 Pro as I'm planning on getting a Switch and Scorpio, but man those shots looks great. The IQ is such a huge improvement, Id hate to play a Pro at a friends house for a couple hours then go back to my Ps4 :p

Considering it's a $400 console vs a $400 graphics card, I'm very pleased with those results from the PS4 Pro. I figure it would be in the same ball park as a 1060. I'm happy the PS4 Pro will give me some kind of 4K gaming because my 1050 ti sure as hell won't.

Look, can we please accept that some people don't care or notice the difference? You CAN, he CAN'T and I only notice when it's pointed out. I'd also point out that white on black is not a fair representation of watching complex, highly detailed geometry at 30fps, clearly the reason they did it this way.

Just accept some people don't care and move on for goodness sake.

The point I'm making is that without a point of reference, most people wouldn't be able to accurately identify which system twenty different pics came from.

You know, when the news of that came out I didn't really care. I was like no biggie, streaming is good enough for me. Now that I have a 4K TV and the Pro will be out in less than a week I'm pretty bummed about it now. I still wouldn't have bought many movies. But it would have been really nice to have that option and to get a few movies to really show case 4K to myself and others.

In that comparison, the lighting looks to be there, just moved somewhat. I don't know if the game uses some kind of dynamic lighting - if it does, then it might not be missing.

Considering that many would think that the TF2 PS4 screen and the R&C screens probably don't come from the same system I'd probably agree, because each developer puts a different value on IQ. Though I still don't know what your point is?

We can compare, we can look at screens from the same game and different games and different systems. Anyone who looks at those comparisons and CAN see a difference can make a choice based on it, just as we've seen in this thread.

The "ahh shit, I want a Pro now" response.

If you got a PS4 to play PS4 games, they are still working perfectly fine. Furthermore, XB1 and PS4 will continue to be the development platform of all games going forward, studios can put a small team of 4 or 5 people on the Pro and come up with something nice.

Sony did a shit job of marketing this thing. This thread has done a better job of showing people with 1080p screens what it's about. Much better than listening to Cerny try to sooth us with his musings on the future of technology.

They needed to release screenshot comparisons like this months ago.

They've only just started and it'll probably still be sold out. You can't sell more than you have.

While I'd also love everything to be 60 FPS if possible, that is an unfair comparison. Smoothing and motion blur ensure just about every game running at 30 isn't as juddery as that .gif is.
