Watch Dogs 2 PC no longer delayed?

Update (09/11/2016 @ 12:32am AWST): The changes have been reverted; the release date of the PC version is again the 29th.

-----ORIGINAL POST-----

Credit to deejay:

Both Steam and the Ubistore now show the 15th again for Watch_Dogs 2... Let's hope it's true, but I've asked for clarification via Twitter (I expect no response, though).

Indeed, the official website now says "Available November 15 on PS4, Xbox One & PC", the US Uplay store page now mentions the 15th rather than the 29th (save for the Gold Edition), and the release date on Steam was updated a little over two hours ago.

While I am looking forward to diving into another Ubi open-world collectathon, I actually hope a mistake has been made as the delay separated the game from Dishonored 2 by two-and-a-half weeks rather than just a few days.

Very interesting. Good on them.

I'm happy with the perceived care Ubisoft has taken with the PC version. The recommended specs are easy to meet. And not that I ever use it, but it's good to see SLI supported at launch.

Wow i sure as heck hope so! I could really use this game to help fill the gap until FFXV. Had the gold edition pre-ordered for a while now thanks to that 50% off deal

Origin desktop app still says Nov 29th

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Need every sale possible for the first week shipment press release - Vivendi be creeping.

Hopefully its true! I'm looking forward to play it and don't want to miss out on the hype/discussion train.

How were their PC ports lately? Or rather, what was their last bad PC port?

Serious questions, as I rarely buy Ubisoft games.

I'd say AssCreed Unity was Ubi's last PC version to launch in a less-than-ideal state. Patches fixed it up rather nicely, though.

I really hope it's a decent PC port, but I have my expectations low
Why? Ubisoft has pretty consistently good PC versions of their games. Even when people complain, like with Unity, the PC version is generally more technically accomplished than any other version.

Gaf loves to trash Ubisoft even though they're not as bad as some others (looking at you EA and WB).

They are probably referring to the original W_D, and most of their games before the amazing Unity accomplishment. ;)

Origin kicks Uplay up and down the street.

In my experience not really. Both clients run without issues and look good. Ubisoft really improved their support too so now you can use chat support and solve majority issues fast like you can via Origin support.

that was one of the few games they managed to get into a good state by the 4th patch. most of their other big games not so much

Very interested but will need a port report or some info on PC before i even think about buying.

One question that has been on my mind though: since Watchdogs 2 is getting the pro treatment; will the PC port also feature the best of the Pro version? i hope so. Infact why aren't we talking about this more?

What do you mean by the best of the Pro version? The Pro won't have anything the PC version won't if that's what you mean.

Better image quality and performance? These things are synonymous with the PC platform.

I meant the PS4 version prob has texture cut downs and lower resolutions textures that might not exist on the pro version. So which one does the PC version use?

Correct me if im wrong but there are differences btw the OG and Pro apart from resolution correct?

Ubi ports have been good lately. AC Syndicate was an excellent port, as was the Division.

Division and AC: Unity both ran and looked great at launch. Great ports.

That's reassuring, then. Thanks.

Are you new to PC gaming?

In multiplatform games, PC textures/effects were and will never be affected by console versions. You as the user are the one who choose which textures/effects to use for your game instead of the devs. PC games are still and will always be better than Pro version. If your PC can handle it, that is. There are some exceptions, of course, such as in bad ports like early version of Arkham Knight where PC version were missing certain effects.

The PC will use the highest quality textures most assuredly, as textures are scalable the higher end PC hardware will use them. And I'm not sure if they've spoken about what other improvements are coming to the Pro patch.

They are talking

  • General
  • 4K support
  • Stuttering/lag framerate optimization – We employed a fix that makes all controls much more responsive and less framerate-related. We’ve optimized resource creation, GPU VRAM upload and required VRAM for the game.
  • No FPS cap
  • Full SLI/Crossfire support at launch
  • Multiple save file support – This feature allows players to have up to three auto save slots for three separate playthroughs.
  • Multi-monitor support with borderless mode and advanced settings that allow for customized placement of menu and HUD.
  • Multiple windowed mode options – Windowed mode with flexible/resizable windows, multi-monitor borderless.

    Improved Graphic Features
  • Screen Space Reflections
  • Headlight Shadows – Support for additional shadows from car headlights
  • Extra Details Options – Increases the level of detail for all objects in the game, and adds more details to objects in the distance.

    Improved Graphics Options
  • FOV sliders
  • Pixel Density sliders
  • Sharpness sliders
  • Ultra Textures pack available at launch

    Anti-aliasing options:
  • TXAA
  • MSAA
  • Post Processing Anti-Aliasing options SMAA and FXAA

    Improved Keyboard/Mouse controls
  • Full adaptation with mouse and keyboard
We’re using raw mouse input to reduce latency and use the Windows hardware cursor throughout the game without any additional signal filtering to smooth or accelerate mouse movement by default
  • Advanced keyboard support – Keyboard hotkeys for every menu and app for faster access. Additionally, all hotkeys can be remapped.
  • Mouse-centric UI – Any UI screen, menus or smartphone app supports full mouse interaction, so the player can finish any UI task with the mouse only. Everything is clickable and has appropriate button states.
  • Toggle/Hold modes for different controls (aim, sprint, walk, inventory, etc.)

    Driving
  • Driving has been adapted to suit the keyboard controls, with adjustable steering sensitivity. Same goes for driving camera sensitivity and auto-centering camera behavior

    Gamepad support
  • On-the-fly switching between mouse and keyboard to gamepad, without any additional options, UI will just switch to gamepad mode
  • Supported gamepads: Xbox One controller, PlayStation 4 DualShock controller
