Robinson looks pretty nice. I have only tried it on a Pro, and I only walked around and threw things in the starting area for 5 minutes. I can definitely see why people say this game gives them motion sickness.

I'm personally ok with it, but I felt the little feeling in my stomach a few time when I was looking downward and moving back and forth. I had the free strafe option turned on because the angled turning just feels awful to me.

Only if it's your first game I reckon. There are some good experiences there but if you've already got other games, I'd wait for a sale.
I got Tehered, Batman, Rez, Rush of blood, VEV, That Sky game, Bound, playroom vr so far. What should I test first tomorrow?

How bored of them are you? Also, do you show off VR to other people often? It's great for showing off the system.
Well I'm not bored yet since I have not got my PSVR yet :D. Picking it up tomorrow with the Pro. But I'm crazy so I already bought all these games. Dunno if I will get my move controllers tomorrow though

Yo. Battlezone on Pro is good. Definitely see the fidelity increase in IQ and that cockpit lighting hnnnnng.

Did have one hiccup. At the start my HMD flickered white once in-game and tossed out a few stutters. No issues from there but it did happen a few moments after booting the game.

Didn't happen in any other VR game I tried. All played fine.

Bound looks stupidly good with the better IQ and lighting.

Playroom improvements are massive, spent quite some time just checking out the robot collection, clarity is stunning.

Ah I see. Well, if you haven't played anything yet and have the spare cash then I'd buy it. But then again I've basically bought everything PSVR. I need an intervention.

I experienced this today as well with Driveclub VR. It looked like snowflakes for a second.

If you have somebody with you start with Playroom VR, incredibly polished and super fun. The platformer in it, Robot Rescue, is a revelation for one player, too. All the games you have are good or great, but some benefit or even need the Move. You also have the demo disc, pop that in and sample most games before you decide what to dive into.

Well just finished area 1 of rez (I've played it many times non vr) and feel kind of underwhelmed compared to some other games I've played so far. I'm hoping it gets more intense..

I'm downloading everything back (had to do a HDD switch with my old ps4) to my Pro.. Can't wait to give it a shot with Rigs, RoB and VR worlds.

Just tried out Eagle Flight for the first time. Felt really fun to just fly around the city.
I'm glad I was persuaded to buy this from impressions in this thread. I had grave reservations about steering with my head, but it does seem right some how, and not bothersome in the short time I played it. The game actually crashed flying at top speed through a bell tower, so I took that as my cue to try something else (VR ADD). But I have always loved the sense of flight, and my best dreams are semi-lucid versions of pretty much exactly this. Spotting a narrow gap between this and that, edging through it, then picking another edgy route before breaking through foliage and into empty air, then wheeling about and diving again. It's a beautiful thing, and an effortlessly perfect showcase for the difference VR brings.

Also ... It's been a few hours. Withdrawal is a real thing! Can't stop thinking about this amazing other world. I really need to pick up some move controllers and stop limiting my options. But fuck those famine prices.

I've been bad about turning like the game wants me to so far, haha. I've been turning my head more often than doing the head tilts and I can definitely feel why they made it that way with how uncomfortable my neck got at times.

There is a slight visual bump in Driveclub VR on the Pro - the menus are noticably crisper as are elements of the cockpits (especially your in cabin monitor). The environments are still quite soft but aren't quite as "blurry" and grimy looking (if that makes sense). The whole thing feels a tad crisper. Minor tweaks but I'll take it as I love this game.

Looking forward to seeing the improvements in RIGS too. Just re-downloading it.

Guys.. trying to sync my Move controllers to the PS4 pro.

Connected to the usb, pressed the move button. Didn't work.

Tried the little reset buttons on the back, then went back to trying to sync. Still no good.

Any ideas?

They worked fine with my OG ps4.

edit: The Wii U pro controller charger worked.

.

Just a slightly sharper image then? No added details in the environment or anything like that?

FWIW I had no problems just plugging mine in via USB and pressing power. Are they charged fully? What happens when you press the ps button?

-edit-

Man, the IQ is noticeably better in vr with the pro. super glad I picked it up

Yeah they were fully fully charged from my dock station. I think that was the issue. Or something. At least when I plugged them with a wii u pro controller charger it worked.

So I got my review site up and running. It'll be specifically for PSVR.

I've only reviewed Tethered so far. Will try and get Eagle Flight done by tonight (UK time) - but I'll have to play a bit more of it first. :D

PSVR Reviews:
https://psvr-reviews.com/

I won't post the link too often, as self-promotion is annoying at the best of times. I'll aim to get one game reviewed a day, to catch up with the titles already out.

I'm enjoying reading your reviews. Your site looks great as well. Nice work!

If you'll notice any difference your eyes must be incredible...I hate to say this but while the game is fun the graphics are easily the worst on PSVR. Very very disappointed in the update...it's patch 1.01 but I hope EVO/ Codemasters will look into this.

Playing on Pro btw

To those who have played windlands and eagle flight...which do you prefer?

Both are good games but Eagle Flight is definitely easier to get into. Windlands can be spectacular when you get into a flow but it requires more from the player and it has a learning curve. I haven't put too much time into Windlands so I'm not super good at it and as a result I often can't pull off the moves I want to. That can be a bit frustrating but when it works, it's spectacular. Eagle Flight's gameplay mechanics aren't as demanding but it offers immediate satisfaction and gratification. For me the latter is more appealing at the moment therefore I prefer Eagle Flight. The choice gets even clearer if you have other people you want to show VR to. You probably won't go wrong with either game but that's my assessment at the moment.

Robinson hand is very immersion breaking. It doesn't look like a game made for VR at all.
I'd rather no hand visible than what they did.

The difference is slight but it's there - especially in cockpit details and general brightness.

Played a bunch of RIGS tonight:

  • Holy fuck, that tutorial lasts forever without the ability to skip through dialogue... wtf were they thinking. There is NOTHING worse than waiting in VR. The game makes what should be fast and energetic menu sooo dull.
  • The gameplay IS that fast and energetic, it really gets the adrenaline going. I forgot very quickly I was playing and was transported to an arena double jumping to a distance platform while beam and missiling 2 other guys... it felt niiiice.
  • Got into some online matches, actually had a really good experience with decent players and voice chatting. It felt like when 360 first hit the scene and public chat wasn't completely toxic. Everyone was concerned about each other's nausea and I got some friend requests out of it. Cheers to that!

I totally recommend buying RIGS and playing with us. Rad game and a must buy. Talking to you, nampad. ;D

Didn't register until you said it, but this is incredibly true. As magical as it is to be surrounded by a fantasy world, it is appalling to be abandoned by one.

At least, as far as paying to be entertained is concerned. You can take it as a valuable invitation to meditate / be present, if you're hooked up that way. But slick design should start becoming a mandatory commodity as VR development progresses.

When you are abandoned like that, there is no meditation to focus on and you can't really look at anything else like your cell phone or dog or whatever without taking off the headset. It is really obnoxious.

Yeah the loading times with the demo disc were unbearable. I didn't even play all the demos because you had to wait a minute between each session to get to the menu and then another to get to the next demo... unacceptable in VR games.

They're both great in their own ways, but Eagle Flight is more intuitive and the content more structured. There's far more game with Eagle Flight, especially when you consider the multiplayer aspect (that isn't nearly as "online multiplayer" as some games and should be OK for pretty much anyone to dip in to).

Eagle Flight is also a lot less demanding in terms of your ability to handle the VR - it's rather natural and smooth, whereas Windlands does require you getting over that losing-your-stomach feel when you take a leap of faith - I finally got that last night and found keeping my head level and my gaze forward was my trick to doing away with that lurching/lunging feeling entirely.

My wife and I just spent the last 15 minutes farting about with the select screen in VR Worlds. Just the select screen! Turns out each world has a ball that sits in front of you that represents the experience in some way. And they react to your controller! I was amazed to be playing beach volleyball with an asteroid, with a trail of its own debris following it around, while I shine a light through the gloom and peer closer ... The Dangerball one made me jump, flew straight at my head ... I've just laughed for surprise and joy 6 or 7 times in quick succession. Amazing.

Yes it's one of the coolest "menus" around.

Cheers - I'm currently managing about two a day, though I'll be glad when I've caught up and can take a little more time over them.

Can anyone recommend ways to get the site "out there"? Other than word of mouth?

I caved and bought Robinson, even though most impressions on here weren't great. I'm hoping to get a review of that out tonight UK time. I do love dinosaurs, so am really hoping people were unjustly harsh, though I had a bad feeling about it.

I tried Eve Valkyrie at Best Buy today and was not really impressed with the experience. I came on here awhile ago and asked what the appeal to VR was and everyone seemed stoked and excited about this and Oculus.

Am I really out of touch for feeling this way, because a part of me feels like I should be on the hype train to some degree, but I'm not. I'm more interested in The Last Guardian than I am with PSVR this season. So is it an age demographic issue, because I feel like if VR becomes a thing, that this version of VR will be the equivalent of the PS1/Saturn/N64 generation -- a transitional, but cutting edge period that hasn't aged as well as the NES, 16 bit, and PS2 and beyond period.

Just played some sportsbar VR and headmaster using my pro. Holy crap what a difference.

I noticed they patched this recently with extra games: chess, chequers (and one really long table with numbers zones on it - what the hell is this game?) but I couldn't find a way to play them with AI? Are they only games you can play against other real life players?

Just a heads up for UK VR players,

Seems that www.quidco.com are offering 25% Cashback at http://www.cdkeys.com/ today, admittedly cashback isn't always guaranteed but this site is generally the cheapest for credit anyway so with a good chance of 25% back as well it's well worth it.

They also do the actual VR games cheaper than store prices as well

EV isn't something that's going to sell anyone on VR/PSVR - I got it for free and CBA playing it. The game does nothing for me, if anything has a poor sense of presence compared to pretty much anything else and is on nobody's VR wow moment lists.

You can't really say transitional tech phases age well or not as they're are each applicable to their time. VR is legit fucking next level. EVE isn't going to do anything for putting that case forwards. Try something half the price and ten times more thrilling or immersive - Batman or Eagle Flight.
