PlayStation 4 Pro |Launch Thread| PS4 Reloaded

Ratchet and Clank is amazing looking even on my 1080p set.

Infamous also terrific. Uncharted and Last of Us...incredible.

I haven't even tried my VR on it yet too.

I'm happy with my purchase so far. Can't wait for Last Guardian and FFXV.

is there any difference between PS4 and Pro for unpatched games ?

For example, Destiny, Dark Souls 3 ? Do they have better AA on PS4 Pro ?

Guys, I think I'm becoming a graphics whore - because I felt like I needed a magnifying glass watching my base PS4 played in the other room.

:p

As I stated earlier, Tomb Raider crashed for me both times I tried it after 10-20 minutes of playing, the second time the screen went blank with a kind of black and white checkerboard pattern in some sections of the screen. I haven't tried it since but I tried Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4 and Infamous First Light all with no issue.

Can anyone confirm if they have had any issues with Tomb Raider? If I need to send the console back, I'd like to do it before FFXV comes out.

Ratchet and Clank really does look amazing though.

Just did an hour of dark souls. Nothing really to report but it also didn't get a pro patch. That game and bloodborne are 2 games i really wish would get the patch.

Why are games on the Playstation store 69 euros?

You didn't hear? There was a thread on it earlier. Seems Russia and parts of Europe saw a price hike across the board on AAA games. I'll try to find the link.

Someone said they deleted and reinstalled game and it was fine. Maybe your data got corrupted for the game?

This is seriously, the cleanest IQ I've ever seen, gaming in 4K on my PC included. Absolutely phenomenal.

I've been planning on picking up a 4k next year but honestly, the patched games on my 1080p look fantastic and run well. If devs keep it up and we start seeing some really clean and good preformance games, i might hold off till the next gen is out and has hdr10 2.0 and many, many nits.

I held off playing Modern Warfare Remaster until I got a PS4 Pro. It's not mind blowing but it looks great nonetheless. Quick question though. I started playing a lot of MP today and noticed I was always the first one to pop up on the map in my team. That's a benefit of playing via the Pro right?

This game is so good. I just can't believe it. I've always thought Insomniac made great looking games but this is some next level stuff. Lawd, wait til we get Horizon Zero Dawn!

Exactly.

The person using the account that doesn't have ps+(on the ps set to primary) won't have auto cloud saves.

And if you're using your "main" playstation without setting it to primary you won't have access to your digital content if you don't have internet. Something to keep in mind.

Ok cool thanks =)

Modern Warfare Remaster looks pretty damn amazing on the Pro...

This is just one screenshot I took with the Share button since I'm still downloading the rest of the game. There are no noticeable jaggies when its downsampled to my 1080p screen from this resolution. It's a really big step up from playing it on the regular PS4.

Is it a placebo effect or download speeds real good for the Pro

I'm using wired with 150Mb/35Mb connection
Getting roughly 5MB on 3 downloads at the same fucking time

I downloaded Destiny with everything in like am absurd time, I think 30 minutes or less

I only played about 45 minutes of Tomb Raider but I did not run into any crashing in that time.

Is Remote Play REALLY bad for anyone else?
I don't get what I'm doing wrong.

PS4 is connected to my router with a CAT5 cable, and I'm sitting literally not even 2 feet from the console.
I even tried the "Connect directly to the console" option that uses the PS4's built-in Wi-Fi and bypasses the router entirely.

It's still constantly stuttering, dropping sound, and occasionally refusing to connect entirely.

Bought the ps4 pro today. Had to make a choice, keep it in the room with 4k HDR tv and play very limited, 1 to 2 hrs a day or place it on a 1080P tv and play 6 or more hrs a day.

I went with 1080P tv choice. What do you say gaf, good call?

Yeah. It's not hard to move the system to the 4k when you have the free time. I usually just leave the hdmi cables with the tv so all I have to do is unplug the system, walk to the other room, plug it back in and hook the new hdmi up, playing again all in about a two minute span.

My testing before was rock solid at 1080p60 over ac wireless. Something is wrong there for sure. What device is receiving? PC? Vita?

Epson doesn't have a native 4k projector. Those are just regular 1080p projectors with some extra tech thrown in and communicated as 4k projectors.

Off-topic talk:
Yeah my projector is 5040ub / tw9300.
Even though this is just fauxk, you can definitely see the difference between 4k and 1080p input.
Here's a pic i took with my mobile phone:

Back on topic again:
With my projector, sadly there's no way to get the PS4 to output 4k30 HDR. So I'm forced to play with 1080p if I enable HDR.

Vita, the original version, if there's a difference in wireless hardware between the revisions.

Hmmm not sure. I just busted out my 2000 Vita and it's better than ever before actually. Can you check the setting on the Vita Power Save Setting > Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode is turned OFF. It's confusingly named and should actually be OFF for best performance. Otherwise I would suggest that your 2.4GHz network is facing some interference from somewhere as the Vita can't use 5GHz

It's quite simple. No patch, no difference.

Has ND said anything about doing a Pro mode for the UC Collection? That would be amazing to replay in 4k
Been no word on it. I'd love it since I only live just bought it in the EU sale. Not holding my breath though!

Thank you. That seemed to make some difference.

I absolutely never would have found that on my own.
Even if I'd stumbled on the setting myself, the way it's labeled makes it sound like "ON" is the "higher performance" choice.

EDIT: Hmm, actually, now I'm not getting the moment-to-moment stuttering, but every minute or two the stream completely drops for a few seconds and then pops back.

Yep it's named horribly. I had it set wrong for the longest time until someone posted a thread here about it

Loaded up Ratchet and Clank on my Pro... It doesn't look that different? It also feels like it's running sub-20 fps. Very sluggish.

Well, it is confirmed, PS4 Pro 4K upscaler is way better than my Samsung J-Series TV upscaler. Neverwinter looks way cleaner/sharper on Pro than it does on old PS4, and that game has definitely not received any patch for Pro whatsoever. Somehow I was not aware that Pro upscales everything to 4K on 4K display, was expected to see 1080p signal, but no, TV shows 4K native for any game, unless the game has a specific 1080p mode or you force 1080p in the PS4 settings.

realised my OG ps4 is 2 tb and the new machine 1TB and currently trying to move files off this portable drive (also 2TB) so I can make it the new harddrive for the pro. Gonna be a while before I can initiate the data transfer and get it all going

:/

Come on... did you expect another game or something?
It's the same game. But it does look completely clean now. No shimmering in the distance. Are you playing on a 30 inch screen?

Is there a way to use both an HDMI from ps4 pro to TV and one to a receiver to get audio separately? My receiver is having HDMI handshake issues when I turn color subsampling on. It works for like 5 seconds and then shuts off and clicks repeatedly.
