I... I just.. No. No it is not. If the game has graphic rape, torture and/or murder, sure. In fact, I'd argue that GTAV maybe should have been AO, but I guess they managed to stay just on the right side of the line somehow.
But rating a game AO... Because you can see vaginas and penises... That's just... Crazy. You know you came out of a vagina at birth, right?
No it is not, read the thread. There are multiple M-rated games that have dicks and vaginas in them, the ESRB knows this is in the game and even mentioned it in the ratings description.

Legitimately curious: How do Steam and Xbox Live handle this situation? (Sharing sexual content screens using the built-in screenshot functions). And if there is a game like this on 3DS/Wii U (maybe the first Wash Doges), how do they handle it?
I agree that it shouldn't be this easy to get banned using PSN's own tools without any user-generated content, but on the other hand I think anyone would know not to share a dick made in Minecraft through Miiverse or even PSN itself...

I don't recall any, but even if it did, the important thing is if that was publicly made known, as opposed to a rogue developer putting it in.
On the back of the game case, does it outright state that the game contains sexual imagery? If not, then it doesn't matter if it's PEGI 18 or what you think; it'll be recalled.

The second paragraph is a no. ESRB have rated the game and accounted for the nudity. They deemed the game to be M. The fact the some users will chose to fixate on the nudity does not change the game's rating. ESRB cannot rate people.

Where did I say anything about my opinion? I was under the impression that sexual imagery automatically got a game an AO rating (specifically because the general populace tend to get more up in arms about it than violence). Apparently that's not the case and Mature covers this (which seems reasonable to me).
Sounds like the game was rated correctly, and this was accounted for on the back of the game box. In that case, it might be worth updating the OP, as a 15-page thread is a bit much to read to get all the facts. I stopped reading after about three pages, seeing as nearly every post up to that point was either a link to an image of a vagina or a joke of some kind.

It's an utterly bizarre situation that someone can get banned by sharing a piece of content that is legitimately in a game.
That said, both PSN and XBL have very specific TOS's for sharing questionable content, I would imagine that because screenshot sharing isn't age gated, where buying a game is, is the reason why this can happen.

why cant they just add an adult content tag like google images? its mostly adults playing these things so stop being such a nanny service as at the end of the day this is just content from a game on the system in the first place

There was definitely a schlong in The Order. If memory serves, it was a QTE schlong.
It's not that the game has a vagina in it, it's the fact that the user shared said picture through a non age gated sharing system where minors could view it.
The matter of a vagina being censored is a whole other issue.

Sure they could do it, in the meantime that still doesn't mean you have rights to share it. "It's just content from a game on the system in the first place" so are DVD you can play on the system, STILL doesn't mean you are allowed to share it on the INTERNAL Sony network.

I can't speak to Microsoft's policy, but the responsibility lies with the other party on Steam: it's up to the developer/publisher to tag the game as having adult content, which results in a "Community content for this product may not be appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work" confirmation screen when accessing its Steam Community hub. Users don't actually have an option to mask risque or explicit screenshots outside of incorrectly tagging them as a spoiler.

Was discussing this with a friend, if his daughter has parental settings limiting her to games rated for 11 and under, does she still see things relating to M/18 games on the What's New section or do they get filtered away?
