FFXV copies out in the wild (street date broken in Peru, possibly elsewhere)

- Upgrades are through a set of sidequests with Cid. Think of them more as "getting a better weapon through a sidequest" than "weapon upgrades"

- Many side quests. Also, lots of hunts :3 also, side dungeons (There's 2, i think, of these in leide that I know of)

- Not sure about breeding (so probably not), but you can level up your chocobo and have it be different colours (which apparently do something, but they have been hush hush on that)

Good

Excited to hear Verendus' impressions (baleeing intensifies). And I'm 100% in agreement with last page's characterization of difference between X and XIII - it's about stringing together a coherent journey and making the world feel lived in. X was the last offline FF to do this. As fun to explore as XII's world was, I got a similar vibe while traveling as in XIII - most of the maps were just there to travel through and fight, not part of a clear story arc as in previous FFs. Hoping XV strikes a sweet spot, and the wide-to-linear funnel approach might do it...

The Duscae region is way bigger in the final version, than Duscae from the demo, right?

The blue area is the explorable area in Episode Duscae:

It's just a fraction of the whole Duscae region. Of course not everything on this map is explorable. But the whole explorable region should be 4-5 times as big.

I still consider it a customization system. It's like armour and weapons in the older games. You bought new ones, and it's all superficial, but it's part of the customization aspect of the game.

Thank you too!
I didn't wanted to spoil myself too much, so I'm not 100% up to date with the world / size.

That's very promising :)

Look forward to Verendus' impressions next week. Just read it and I'm sure you'll be happy (except for a few points I know Kagari probably won't like) :)

Ooh sounds good. Really excited to read those impressions more than I already was.Curious on those few points of course.

Sure I can understand that, fair enough.

I hope Canada post delivers over the weekend of the 26th, but I highly doubt it X(

TFW you live in Chicago but you have like a handful of game stores in city.

I ain't about this life.

I'd kill for some spoiler free impressions tho.

It's all about the illusion of progress. As long as you feel you're accomplishing something. That's how it is for me anyway.

I wasn't expecting Koozek to make that comment, but I'm planning on posting it next week since my copy of the game is at the office. Since I've written quite a bit, I'm planning on taking a picture of it when I post. I can avoid any dismissive posts that way. Plus, not like anyone has seen the European Balee Dat Edition. You've only seen those South America boxes. With this being Donald Trump's America now, I am aware that only pure white English speaking men are welcome. And naturally that extends to game covers. Can't have no other languages on that cover getting in the way of the white man's word.

Yeah, I tend to agree with that sentiment. So long as I feel like I get *something* out of it more than I put in I'll probably like it :p (that something doesn't even really have to be a real something, heh)

You know what that is, don't you?

It's the casual in you. Leave behind the hardcore friends. Come to this world. We even have mobile.

@Verendus, when can we expect your impressions by?
Depends on when I have time, but during the week when I get some time to come on GAF. Definitely by the weekend though since I have more time on Saturdays and Sundays as it is. Why I'm here right now. I've already written them now so I can just copy and paste from PM, but I just need to take a picture of my copy. That's more for posting on here though since I don't want any dismissive comments. I just spent a solid hour writing them. That's more effort than my usual crap that I post without thought.

@Verendus, couldn't you just real quick clear up if the continent of Lucis is indeed the only open-world part of the game or if there are some more open environments after crossing the sea? :(

13 might have problems but it had such a great battle theme. Easy on the ears and so easy to hear over the course of the entire game

trying to stay clear of stuff like that for this one but hopefully it has a great theme as well

Yeah, throw us some meat Verendus. We've been wandering in the wilderness, slavering and lost, for nigh on ten years.

A body needs succor!

Can't wait for those impressions Verendus! Super excited about this! But I am wondering if he is going to put certain things he typed with spoiler tags.

Ooooohh now I'm super interested. Wonder what it could be???

Just found a boss fight that played strategically. Level 40ish, not sure what level the player was. I think it's good enough where I think I'll find it enjoyable. Bring on the hunts, too bad it's not ready for Thanksgiving break. I have a tradition of playing my eyeballs out on a new game for thanksgiving and a rpg like this would be perfect. Nothing will screw me up like Resistance 2 Co-op though. I over did that one.

Spoiler Spoiler
It seems minor, nothing fancy, looks like a named champion boss that could pass as a Iron Giant type thing, but it's small (in size), and a repeating FF named mob. Party pretty much stayed dead a lot though, which makes me think he was punching above his level, maybe a lot of fights will be like that, darn AI in games like this.

Very Arkham games with reversals, like the demo.

Dang, if anyone in the Dallas area knows of any stores with the plug PM me.

So many Gamestops here though (HQ is here iirc), so I doubt many mom n pop stores exist in the area.

What I wouldn't give for someone to have his outfit or weapon. Maybe a rare drop?

Dungeon crawling is going to be awesome.

I don't mean to overhype - Verendus' thoughts on the game are extensive and measured. There's definitely stuff in there that's going to concern some people. They're also non-spoilery. But, personally, they assuaged my biggest fears about the game, predominantly related to story structure and progression.

This is a bit off topic but since they're copies out in the wild and spoilers are coming out freely I was wondering who was making the OT and spoiler thread?

I'll volunteer if no one's claimed it yet.

Kagari is making the OT. Makes sense of course. I'm not sure if anyone has claimed the spoiler thread though.
