Even if most of the stuff he talked about didn't pan out, is it really that hard to believe that he got his hands on a copy of the game this early? I mean, we already know a good portion of this industry already has their hands on it, they just ain't talking about it for whatever reason. There doesn't seem to any real reason to doubt Verendus other than the simple that you don't want to get yourself hyped up for a possible disappointment. It's a review on a message board. Shit is pretty harmless even if you take it a face value.
I will say that I have reasons to doubt his posts other than his track record: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=224996487&postcount=1709

And you're right - it's not a big deal. I'm just not a huge fan of misinformation and seeing people get misled.

Never played Shadow Hearts but you guys are killing me with the butthurt.

We're 9 days off btw.

Dude Shadow Hearts is one of the best imo. 1 and 2 are top tier for me. 3 was good, but not to the first two.

Anyways... I just remembered... I never finished FFXIII. I think I got to chapter 8 or so. One day I'll finish. One day.

I love Pokken!
There's a huge difference between getting specific details wrong (which I have certainly done too, for various reasons) and posting giant fanboyish lists that turn out to be made up.

well then maybe you can answer me this

If verendus is so full of shit, then why are mods allowing him to spill these false informations since 2013? Why is he allowed to make all these list and predictions without any consequences since 3 Years?
I mean he was even wrong several times (especially with dates) which would normally mean the ban for a so called insider (however Verendus was only banned several times for his trolling)

and why would he predict such unlikely projects (Suikoden, Sony Japan AAA JRPG) if he could just go the easy way to fool everyone
if i wanted to make everyone believe i am an insider, why would i predict the most unbelivable projects that could happen and risk a ban

iirc he even told a mod before e3 2013 the exact scenario of FF15 E3 Trailer

seems like it bothers that people like me believe him - however unlike you iam following him since 2013 and there were more than enough predictions that turned out to be true.

its easy to dissmiss his track record based on those two lists - but again, there are way more than those

I'm not a GAF mod and I'm not going to be a backseat GAF mod. It's pretty easy to look over those lists and judge for yourself. Either A) a Suikoden, Virtua Fighter, Xenosaga HD collection, Shadow Hearts, FFX spinoff, Parasite Eve, spin-off Final Fantasy, Sega PlayStation new IP, MGS collection on PC, HD Dragon Quest remake, and all the other things Verendus predicted actually existed, but were ALL mysteriously delayed/cancelled, or B) he made it all up. You can decide for yourself what's more likely.

I watched a friend play it and it seemed very cool. If Sony would put it on the store I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Regarding XIII, I still think it's alright, but XIII-2 and Lightning Returns were much better for me. LR was such an interesting game, its only real problems were technical things like poor textures and frame rate. Of course the story is ridiculous but it's a jrpg.

yes everyone can decide for themself what they wan't to believe,
for my part i will give him the benefit of the doubt (Like i did since 2013), since many of his predictions took a long time to be announced
(The warner Bros exclusive he mentioned in 2013 --> 2016 Batman VR) (the FF7 Remake he mentioned in 2013 -> 2015 announced)

i mean he is saying himself that he is working for Sony - i doubt that Mods wouldn't verify this claim

Wouldn't the FFX spin-off probably be X-3 which SE are at least saying has been in their thoughts/probably on the back burner since the reaction to the new X material? FF spin-off sounds like WoFF. The others you're on point on.

In fairness, the X spinoff (X-3?) has still been floated around in interviews for a few years, so it's not totally outside of the realm of possibility that Verendus caught whiff of early discussions and prematurely reported it. In fact, if we wanted to be charitable, we could assume the rest of the list is not made up. But that would also make it seem like Verendus prematurely reports things that aren't even in development and might just be "conference room ideas" tossed around for pre-development research purposes. I've even wondered if some of the stuff is made-up or twisted to throw any employers off his tail.

Either way, he says a lot of stuff and I'm not sure why anyone would believe it as gospel truth.

Again, especially when his taste in FF is questionable :p

Being in a position to hear things doesn't mean everything you hear is accurate.

We're all tossing around ideas at this point, maybe we should just wait for him to see what he has to say for himself?

Yeah I heard it on streams, it's great.

Join us in the DC thread in Community if you want to talk BvS. We're a level headed bunch and we have a lot of different thoughts!
I'm very open to having my mind changed but it's an objectively bad movie with terribly written charachters and terribly filmed action scenes. Thanks for the invite though.
This review from my buddy echoes my thoughts word for word http://reviewsandmisc.blogspot.hr/2016/04/batman-vs-superman-dawn-of-justice.html

Sorry for the offtopic guys.

We'll all be playing the game in about 10 days anyways. Let's just wait until then (unless we see the ending early...) to massacre Verendus and all of his claims if it will make you guys feel better. Other than that we really have nothing else to go through unless we hear back from V himself or more streams appear.

What is this Verendus? am I missing something?

Lol

They were all delayed.

Just kidding.

If Verendus wrote a huge two part review just for attention, that is hilariously pathetic. He said he would post a photo of his copy of the game, didn't he? Let's see if he follows through.

This is why I mentioned John Edwards before -- it's the classic psychic approach. You throw out a bunch of predictions, and make many of them as vague as possible like "we're getting new console JRPG from Square Enix" or "the PS4 is getting an exclusive from a major third-party publisher." When it turns out that Square Enix is indeed making a console JRPG and the PS4 is indeed getting a third-party exclusive, you look brilliant, and people tend to remember those vague promises rather than the very specific ones you got wrong (because everyone wants to believe). It's easy to retroactively fit reality into broad predictions, and for the specific ones it's easy to claim that either things have changed or you slipped in false information to avoid getting caught. Add a couple of high-percentage guesses (FFXII remake! FFVII remake!) and you've got a good thing going.

I will say that the "FFXV impressions" were well done - they were very convincing, even though upon close scrutiny it's clear that everything in there could've been gleaned from publicly available information. There were just a couple of slip-ups and assumptions that make me seriously doubt that they're for real.

So what you're saying Jason is the world needs CBOAT and ntkernel back? Or whoever the MS leaker was that I think MS ended up kidnapping. lol

"Insider" chat and E3 is the best time on GAF. Absolutely mental.

I was taken in by how extensive and non-inflammatory they were in opposition to Verendus' typical cryptic moon-promises.

But now I don't know what to believe. Except, most importantly, my own eyes and ears when I play the game for myself.

Come what may from all this, I do appreciate your posts, particularly this one. Having helped manage high-volume social media marketing endeavors I share your (journalistic?) interest in preventing the spread of false information. The John Edwards nod is an apt one. I remain on-the-fence as to the validity of Verendus' claims here, but if they are indeed puffed-up prose from the press preview phase then I feel a bit silly for having briefly fallen for a classic made-up narrative approach.

EDIT: Good grief, but I do get wordy sometimes. You get the idea.

Ito's alternate personality, Mr. Hyde to his Dr. Jekyll!

Well, at least we're one step closer to rescuing Ito...

I do wonder what prompted him to post his impressions, as he claims he was never a fan of the series' recent games. You don't make up something this big that puts you at the front and center of attention unless you have valid proof backing your claims.
