Id like to imagine if they get enough complaints so that it potentially will effect sales or mess with their ratings on online retailers then they will start to revert other stuff that was considered stupid by the internet. Or at least we can "hope" for that to happen...
I think that would've worked if it was there on release - while SAO games do have legs, most of the sales are frontloaded, so I can't see the effect on sales from now on being huge. Especially since you probably wouldn't know about it if you're just an average SAO fan who isn't all over 2ch/wikis.

Anyway, I can see some of the changes being removed (buffs on enemies), but for the other ones, I feel like the balance now is better than before. Like I mentioned before, you can no longer destroy a monster twice/three times your level by chaining 2-3 skills over and over, but with NPC allies no longer being useless, those fights feel much better now in my opinion.

Im talking about rolling back the stupid shit. The other changes doubt they will touch those. But the obviously idiotic ones can see them backpeddling on potentially depending on how pissed off folks get. The other balances that they did were at least even in the sense that its both the NPC and Monsters have been adjusted instead of just a one sided thing. So stuff like that I most def will not see them back tracking on. Its the same when they turned HF more casual with all of the changes done with the large content update. Those were pretty much there to stay once it was out. But at the same time they never did anything as fucking mind boggling dumb as with the buff effects in this game. Or even messing with the bad status effects on enemies. As seriously those proc way lower than HF.

Speaking of the latest patch, before I downloaded Pokemon I got time to do the first one of the 8 new dungeons.

It... wasn't that great. The concept is very easy - you have points on the map which you have to defend so you won't fail the mission/don't get a lower rank. The goal is to defeat an enemy to unlock sealed door to the boss and kill the boss.

I wasn't paying that close attention, so I'm not sure if you have to stop the attacks on all of your bases at least once for the seal enemy to appear, but that's what I did. There are some NM protected blue chests in the dungeon as well.

I found the design to be pretty unfun. Most of the dungeon is just a long corridor with sub lv 40 enemies (weird choice, since the recommended level for it was 50+). Getting a message that your base on the other end of the map is being attacked is annoying, because it either means a really long trek back, or trying to rush to the end.
Anyway, on level 58 all fights were a piece of cake, I got rank A (S is the best one, but I don't remember exact requirements) and some weak items.

After you do the first dungeon, the other 7 unlock, so I might do that sometime.
Iirc they said they're going to add even more of these dungeons in future patches.

To be honest I'd much rather have a regular post game long/random multi floor dungeon with strong enemies, instead of this mediocre attack/defense type of activity.

I need Iron Ore. And Insectoid Stingers. Is there a good drop list anywhere?

Also, I am realizing how important it is to level a bunch of weapons. If not for the skill points, do it for the buffs. Nothing quite like having 654 SP at level 22. Need more skills for more SP!

Iron Ore you basically get from quests as a reward or those world event type of things. Stingers from those Wasps I think.

No idea if there is any English wiki. You would have to google that.

1.05 apparently fixes a lot of the shit that 1.04 did. That was quick.

A couple of nerfs (Overdrive and Hyper Armor are the two big ones I see).

Wow, that's a lot of backpedaling and further changes on a short notice. I feel for those guys, they must be working crazy hours now.

Aside from obvious stuff being rolled back/fixed, an important thing to mention is that damage dealt will be brought back to 1.03 values, but that excludes to very strong enemies (I assume HNMs and maybe high level NMs).

Someone at the office I bet got their ass chewed out for 1.04 and having to waste another patch with 1.05 fixing some of the idiocy.

From what I've seen in a couple of videos the framerate is kinda bad in the Vita version. Is this something they addressed in the latest patches. I remember HF as a little choppy but playable, is the performance in HR a lot worse than HF or is it mostly the raids that has bad framerate?

Yeah, the release date patch helped with the framerate. Most videos are from before the patch.

Just trash them. Since its so easy to get more once you are familiar enough with the game. Go collect your pennies for selling them to the vendor lol

Yes OSSs basically break the game once you master it. The vid in the OP is a clear example of that.

JP Player Breaking the game with 2HS OSS (Original Sword Skill) Combo

Question does the Western version still have that fucking stupid "Successfully" displayed when you complete quests and objectives?

Is there a compiled list of the traits and who they're good for? I don't have ANY idea which ones to raise on which characters.

Definitely agree with the reviews saying that the story lacked any stakes. While the premise was interesting at first, I felt like they failed to deliver.
That said, it's my problem with everything SAO-related after the "death game" part was over.

Pretty much the reason Progressive exists.

I've been focusing heavily on leveling a bunch of weapons to unlock more buffs (and to get more skill points). I'm assuming all of these +xx SP Regen buffs stack, right? Because as of right now, I think I have like 3 or 4 that I run with Overdrive. It's pretty fantastic.

I had my first experience with Hyper Armor + Quick Skill. 2H Sword with Super Armor is already insanely good, but toss the combo of Quick Skill and Hyper Armor in and it's basically GG. Build your team to buff and heal you and you can go for days. I've also found that Debuff Copy is maybe a top 3 best skill in the game for dealing with annoying shit. It's frustrating that it's named so poorly. But being able to not get frozen/silenced/paralyzed/etc is fantastic once Hyper Armor wears off.

I need to focus on finishing the main story. I've got some 35 hours in and still haven't fought the second Raid Boss. I'm just wandering and cleaning up quests. Game is SO fun.

Oh and I unlocked my first Hidden EX Skill - Fanged Guardian. Some of the unlock requirements for certain skills are insane. The Katana based EX Skill is already hard enough at some-4200 SSC (2-hit OK). But apparently the locked skills within that tree require thousands of 5-hit SSCs?! :|

Second boss down! I don't know what the strategy was...I just went on the body with Super Armor skills. The AI was all dead after the first big attack, ha.

If you leveled up enough, nothing left in the game except for NM/HNMs will be a challenge anymore. Even the last boss is a joke. I'm not even talking about being close to level 70, I think I was a bit under 50 or 53-54 when I finished the story.

I read that they will be increasing affection gains in patch 1.05, that makes me kinda want to take a break from the game until it comes out but who knows when they will patch the western version.

I checked the official site again today and it looks like we don't even know when the patch is going to be out for the Japanese version. They're saying "soon", but 1.04 only came out last week, they've decided to do a 180 on some changes and add a ton of new ones, so that's probably going to take a while to implement. Add to that the time required to push the patch through Sony's certification... I hope it won't take them too long.

Sony cert with patches does not take that long even more so if its a large pub like BanNam. As long as they dont go fucking something up in the process it should go without a hitch.

Yeah, I read that Japanese players were complaining about some of the nerfs in 1.04 so hopefully they will just skip that patch for the western version and go straight to 1.05.

Obviously it doesn't take weeks, but with a game this big and so many things to check, I would be surprised if 1.05 came out this week, since they didn't even give a date yet.

Would imagine they will just release 1.04 and 1.05 together so 1.04 overwrites the 1.03 data then 1.05 will overwrite 1.04 right after. Wonder if the West they are just waiting till more patches come out so they can just go do them all at once instead of constantly trying to catch up to what the JP side is doing.

So that mochi quest was something else...

Also, where is Lisbeth's Blacksmith stall at? I see her wandering the town but I want to use her for upgrades.

Go to the shopping street from the main plaza, it's the first/second store on the left iirc. There's a different NPC there, but Lisbeth will appear when you start the conversation.

She's a terrible blacksmith even at a high level.

Her. I haven't found any better blacksmiths, the success rates on everyone seem to be terrible, no matter what skills they have.

The percentages with the success ratings in this game is a bigger lie than SRW games lol

I mean her explanation in the beginning was solid - "I'm low level, don't expect too much". The problem is that she's now 40+ (as a blacksmith) iirc and not much has changed, lol.

Yeah you would think that leveling them up would kinda mitigate the fuck ups but apparently not... D: Not to mention how many resources go potentially slipping in the trash while trying to level them by constant upgrades.

Well fuck, I spent all that time grinding to get dual blades and it doesn't even start with a single skill to use with it :/

Edit: Wait, so dual wielding and the Celestial blade EX skill are separate things?
Edit 2: Never mind, I think I misunderstood wtf people in the Gfaqs topic were talking about lol.

Do daggers stay solid? I'm melting stuff currently but rather not over invest

Not sure if it means much but a lot of vids Ive seen folks either are using 1HS + Shield or 2HS. Though this was all pre-damage nerf patch. So things might have changed since. One thing for sure is daggers are way better in this game than they were in HF.

So you guys are enjoying the game? How are the side quest? Is the game very repetitive?

All games are repetitive honestly. So not quite sure what you are expecting.

For the most part here you can see that people are enjoying the game in the thread.

Her. I haven't found any better blacksmiths, the success rates on everyone seem to be terrible, no matter what skills they have.

I was reading on GameFAQs about people who have super leveled their smiths with no visible bonus to rates. Maybe that's a fix in 1.05? I'm more concerned with which smith has the best bonuses.

Also party. I've been running Asuna, Silica and Strea. I tried Leefa and Argo but wasn't impressed. However, I still don't understand how to build any AI. Anyone have tips or thoughts on this?

As for how repetitive the game is, it's super repetitive. But it's fun and rewarding because you have so many weapons and skills to level up. And there's something super fun about finding broken skill combos haha. That only comes with enough XP and skill points to invest in goodies!

Not sure what it is, but so far I'm not enjoying this as much as Hollow Fragment. I mean it certainly feels more like an MMO (well, a bland one like Tera) but less like SAO. Granted I'm only just past the golem blocking the gate, but there hasn't been much character interaction and the fields are way too big and devoid of anything interesting (unless you want to do the billion or so item grinding quests).
