Put It In Your MAU-th: Pork Loin leading PS4/Xbone in NA

InfoScout’s early read on this year’s top items turned up some usual suspects, along with a few surprises. While Sony’s PlayStation 4 held onto its #1 spot at Best Buy again this year, Microsoft’s Xbox One S Minecraft bundle took the lead at both Target and Costco. Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers took advantage of whopping 40% discounts off Philips and Vizio Smart TVs to aggrandize their living rooms. But most surprising? Pork Loin ranked first in unit movement at Costco, where shoppers lined up with $8 off instant coupons.

Discount me if old

MS is so much better at Black Friday and Christmas bundles then Sony.

Other then the PS4 launch I cant remember the last time Sony took the lead in November or December.

MS always finds a way to undercut them by a decent amount.

Consumer mind: It does 4K and cheaper than pro that also does 4K.

Also this.

In a lot of peoples eyes the OneS and the Pro are the same but the Pro costs $100 more and the PS4 slim is just a PS4 but slimmer. Sony really messed up not putting basic 4K into the Slim.

I think the PS4 Pro makes the PS4 bundle less attractive despite its price. If I didn't already have a PS4 Pro, just the fact that it exists makes the regular console less attractive despite the price.

GAF would be a sight to behold if PlayStation doesn't take November.

MS is way more consistently willing to take it in the shorts and put up a ton of good bundles in the US to move units through the holidays. MS winning October-December shouldn't be a surprise.

What?

MS has usually won the holidays because they have been so desperate so they are much more willing to take a hit. Until this past summer Sony has usually won most of the year except the holidays. This would be the year for MS to win 6 months in a row which would be quite a feat.

Besides we all know Rubbermaid lids, Cozy Blankets and Pork Loins are the winners this holiday, MS can't beat that.

I dunno. Sony seem content with their sales and seem more focused on ensuring they make profit instead. They're in a position where they can comfortably do that now.

Not really much to gain for Sony to try undercut MS since software sales from what I can tell are doing well, selling well world wide unlike XBONE and making profit is of more value.

Why? The trend have been favoring MS and Sony imo has been ass since the PS Pro reveal.

Because for the last few months of NPD numbers, the default response to Microsoft "winning" has been that "people are waiting for the PS4 Pro in November". There was a widespread belief that the PS4 Pro would help Sony crush Microsoft in November.

I was always skeptical of this as Microsoft won November 2014 and came very close to winning November 2015, but we shall see.

When i look at the picture i see One + over 2 year old game for $250/230 or PS4 + 1/2 year old game for $250, so the price/value advantage Ms had the last BFs wasn't there.
On top of that Sony launched the Pro.
How could a loose not disappointing when all advantages this time where in Sony's corner?

Sony released a brand new system that counts for PS4 sales. Sony SHOULD take November when regular and pro sales are combined.

But if they don't... well Sony still has the rest of the world. They'll be OK.

Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 are over two years old?

But the slim streams 4k?

With way better bundles available to be fair:

Blops3 ps4 and battlefront ps4... theyve completely lost the bundle fight this year to Microsoft, not terribly but its still stacked against them, and they dont seem to want to get in a price war with Microsoft. id be (a little) worried if they didn't win in feb and march where a bunch of there exclusives are,

Beef tenderloin still better

Pork loin is awesome, so I'm not surprised about the upset. Had it been bundled with Adobo seasoning, broccoli rabe, and some gold potatoes it would have taken Black Friday easily.

HDR 4K bluray player? Get an Xbox one S.

It is a killer feature, Sony f**ked up nor having it in the pro or slim.

The deals in the UK were insane, if I had the money I would have got the S.

Microsoft has had a great first party line up this fall, and deserved to win NDP over Sony. Will he interesting to see how Black Friday and The Pro release has altered things.

Still can't believe it, £199 for ps4 or Xbox OneS in some stores yet WiiU just sitting at £250...

Don't know where people are saying MS took the holidays - I don't recall them doing that in 2015 or 2014 at least. But yeah this time around they have really good market presence and great bundles plus a 4K box that's $100 less even if it's only movies - being able to advertise as 4K capable is all they need.

Not remotely shocked at these results.

MS has better bundles and better discounts.
What were these looking like? I saw stuff like the UC4 Slim bundle coming with The Last of US Remastered and/or Ratchet and Clank for $249. For Xbox, I just saw $249 Gears and Minecraft bundles. This was just online though.

MS took 2014. Sony took 2015.

As said i went by the picture.
So there were other bundles with GoW4 or BF1.
But at the same time you could also get TLoU and R&C on top of UC4.
In the end it's all on the same level and different from earlier BFs.

People still care about this? PS4 won. It's over.

It's nice that MS is doing better. Good for the industry.

Im pretty sure hes saying it because for the last few months sony fans here at gaf have been defending Sony's "defeats" as a natural reaction to the PS4 Pro launching in November. So another loss on the month they claimed they were going to win would be pretty funny

It would be pretty surprising if the Xbox One took November due to the launch of the PS4 Pro. I don't think it will though when you add the pre-orders.

We had this same discussion last year, I seem to remember.

Xbox took Walmart, PlayStation Amazon, yada yada, and people were trying to work out which combo was greater.

MS also had BF1 bundle and i think another one .
MS just had better bundles and price this year .
Sony look like they all about profit since they lead so much WW.
