I haven't seen a thread for this on the front page.


I can't watch the video at the moment. Is there any good info in it aside from final dev kits being sent out and the battery life?

Edit: To note it's from NateDrake

- Final Devkits being shipped. No notable changes in specs that he knows of.
- Battery life of 3hrs is based on old Devkit. Nintendo is aiming at 3DS battery life, so between 5 to 8 hours.

Edit: For reference:

The battery life for the New Nintendo 3DS is from 3.5 to 6 hours, while the battery life for the New Nintendo 3DS XL is from 3.5 to 7 hours.

5-8hrs is the range I've heard they are targeting. Hearing final dev kits went out in mid-November was an interesting detail and I thought people would want to hear about the battery range they are targeting. Lock the thread. I didn't post the video on the forums.

I'm still even ok with 3 based on my current lifestyle, but 5-8 sounds great for commuters or people not near electrical sockets for large chunks of the day. 5-8 is way better. Hope it's true. 5-8 is almost necessary for people flying on planes a lot, too.

I get a solid 5-6 hours on my N3DS, and that's a smaller battery. My brightness is usually on lowest though, but I do have power saving turned off for better colors.

I mean, that's pretty decent. The average should be around 4-6 hours which is pretty solid for this sort of device.

I usually turn the brightness down one notch but I don't use 3D and wifi most of the time.

Sounds good...maybe too good. I may have misheard, but I think he says it's 3DS like which is not 8 hours as far as I remember.
Not sure if "as good as 3DS" is the info he got and then forgot 3DS'a actual battery life.
My guess:
Average of 4 hours but charges quickly due to USB C

Devkits have been out for a while. The keyword is "final" i.e. people will be getting new devkits that are closer to the actual retail version.

Not a hardware downgrade but they may have just underclocked the components when playing in tablet mode. I mean earlier dev builds were 3-4 hours max which was really, really bad.
