I had to double check the date of the thread at first. Not the first time this has happened at Crytek I believe.

This sucks to hear. The first half of Far Cry was awesome. As was the first half of Crysis. I'd hate to see the company go under.

As for the employees, that really sucks. Happened to me before. My advice to them: leave. NOW. The money will never come.

Yeah it seems that they are in financial trouble rather often. Which is why I always found it weird when they went around buying studios.

Well, sucks for the employees.

I won't shed a tear for the Yerlis, however. Their hubris and arrogance was always off-putting and is probably to blame to some degree for the studios troubles.

Most of those positions are there for more than 16 months. They aren't hiring.

They are. Keep track of this page for some time and I believe most positions of Frankfurt studio are newly added, aside from the progamming portion.

Still not sure if everyone is heavily affected there. Quite a few Crytek employees keep posting on Slack every day.

Games companies, and likely other industries, sometimes include non-compete clauses in your contract, meaning you can't actively seek employment with other companies while contracted to them. They could easily just be trapped.

European Union has employee-protections that are stricter. For Germany for instance, a non-compete clause is only valid for a certain area - which would be smaller than entire Germany unless properly supported, because it would be unreasonable to stop someone from getting a job in an entire country - and requires actual payments to maintain. If they have a non-compete clause, the non-payment would immediately invalidate it.

Well, if rumors are true, they did this in Austin as well. So I wouldn't put it past them. Sounds like a shitty place to work.

As being from Germany, having worked in and following the local industry, I wouldn't be too surprised if there's some truth to this. However, I'm having a hard time believing they didn't pay period, for months. All I can find about it (which is weirdly enough not much from German sites or the usual news portals) is that payments have arrived late (as in 1-2 weeks late), which seems more believable.

I dunno, I heard about Crytek's, well, unique financial handywork, but this seems a bit much. Not saying it's wrong yet tho. Also, if you work in Germany for 6 months without payments, you're a fucking idiot and clearly should read up on labor rights (and job offers from elsewhere).

If you are a game dev in germany what other options sre there?

You could always go somewhere else but if you want to stay in germany i figure there isnt much else

Always sucks when this happens... especially when a studio falters right before Christmas.

To all Ex-Crytek folks who're reading this thread: We're still actively looking for top talent and are working on some super exciting stuff. Just send your resume and reel / folio to jobs@moongamestudios.com

Moon is a distributed studio, which means that you wouldn't even need to relocate :)

Who the hell works in Germany for 6 months without getting paid? You may as well quit and get at least state benefits.

The industry is small and I guess there aren't many options. Then there are people who don't want to go through legal trouble etc., it's nerve wrecking and time consuming.

6 months is bloody insane though.

The employees get some of the money (3 months salary) I think from the government, but everything extra including vacation etc. is lost.
