*SPOILERS* The Walking Dead TV show, leaks, and comic book SPOILER discussion thread

I liked it. I was surprised to see that she could carry an episode, but I felt really invested in what would happen with Cyndie, and Oceanside's backstory gave us some good insight on the show Saviors.

TSDF spoilers for Sunday are up on Reddit:

Why is Michonne out on the road by herself?
She seems to have a plan. She is making it a point to be killing walkers with her katana and piling them up on the road.
Do Carl & Jesus make it to the Sanctuary in the back of the truck?
Carl does, but Jesus doesn’t. Jesus suggests they both hop out of the back of the van to get a better look at the Sanctuary as they get closer. Carl pretends to be hesitant and gets Jesus to jump out first. After Jesus jumps, Carl waves goodbye and continues on in the truck. Then he finds a box of weapons.
Who else in Team Family makes an appearance?
Rosita and Eugene are off on a mission. Remember she said “make me a bullet” and she’s holding him to it. They run into Spencer & Gabriel on their way out to get supplies. Rosita and Spencer have some harsh words with each other and they go their separate ways. Spencer & Gabriel have even more harsh words with each other and Gabriel ends up getting out of the car and walking back to ASZ. Spencer is losing friends fast. Rick & Aaron are out scavenging.
How does Negan react to Carl’s visit?
Negan is intrigued by his new visitor. Instead of disposing him, he offers Carl a grand tour of the Sanctuary. A lot of their interactions follow the comics. Carl comes face to face with Negan’s harem. Negan also makes Carl take off his bandage, then has Carl sing to him while he practices swinging Lucille.
Does Carl try to rescue Daryl?
No, but Daryl does receive a note from an unknown friend. A folded piece of paper is slid under his door. He finds a motorcycle key in it with a matchstick taped to it and one word: ‘Go.’
Does Negan find Judith in this episode?
Yes. After Negan personally delivers Carl back home, Negan makes Carl take him on an awkward tour of his house. Negan finds Judith in her crib and picks her up. They are all on the front porch sipping lemonade and Judith sitting on Negan’s lap when Rosita, Eugene and Spencer roll back into the ASZ.
EDIT: Bonus! Carl will take out a few Saviors before being caught by Negan. Savior Mark sees the business end of a hot iron.

What are Rick and Aaron up to in this episode?
They find a sign on a gate that says "Keep going. Only thing here 4 you is trouble" Since Negan is coming back soon, they have no choice but to check it out. It seems the guy who wrote the note is dead, but he was smart. He has a houseboat full of supplies and ammo in the middle of the lake, but he protected it by surrounding the boat with walkers. Basically, Rick and Aaron have a crapload of work to do to get their payday.
Who is the lady Michonne meets and what happens during their encounter?
The lady is one of the Saviors and Michonne purposely lured her out. Michonne tells her to take her to Negan, or she'll kill her.
Can you describe the iron scene? How graphic is it?
The actual ironing itself, yes, it's graphic, but it's over pretty quickly. The scene leading up to it is the worst part. Daryl is there. Carl is there. And Negan forces Dwight to help. Of course, there's the classic Negan speech too.
Does Carl cry while singing?
Yes, but Carl also cries when Negan forces him to remove his bandage and makes fun of how he looks. (Carl cries, but he cries like a man damnit)
What happens when Carl first arrives at the Sanctuary?
It happens pretty much like the comics. Carl is able to take out 2 of Negan's men before being overpowered by Dwight. But Negan doesn't kill Carl, and instead is thoroughly impressed and takes him on a tour of The Sanctuary. First stop is Negan's harem where Daryl and Dwight bring in a big plate of food for Negan. Negan makes sure that the Saviors eat vegetables that night, but he's the one who gets the big meat and cheese plate. He forces Carl to carry it around and treats him like a servant just like Daryl.
Bonus:
Negan really really likes Judith! He sits on the porch and rocks her to sleep.
He(Carl) sings "You are My Sunshine." Just like the comics.
About the harem: the women are kept in a large space with really nice furniture. All dressed provocatively.
Negan tells Carl that he likes Alexandria so much that maybe he'll kill him and Rick after all. Then he'll move to the suburbs and be with Judith everyday.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
I'll watch it if they're including the scenes from the comic when Carls at the saviors compound

They BETTER have Negan apologize to carl after mocking his eye

As a comic reader, I'm loving this season. Wish they ended tonight's episode with Negan killing Spencer however. Now everyone's going to bitch about his death not being a significant character during the midseason finale.

Loved that episode.

FINALLY a decent episode, since there wasn't filler. I'll be checking here each week for the episode spoilers to see if I should watch or not.

JDM shaves in next week's episode. Man, he looks 100x more like his comic counterpart now.

Damn I'm glad to see he finally shaved. Can't wait to see him gut Spencer.

JDM just needs some weight training before they start shooting Season 8 and they'll be all set.
Ya it would be nice to see him get bigger again. He lost something like 40 pounds for a role over a year ago now. Idk if he plans on getting the weight back but I hope he does. Especially since Negan isn't going anywhere.

Yep! Not to like, body shame the guy, but it's so weird how he's got these super broad shoulders (like in the photo I posted), but as soon as you go below that, he's all skin and bones.

I don't consider it body shaming in this context.
He's trying to emulate a fictional character whose physicality is a defining character trait.
If Negan was a fat man in the comics, I'd be encouraging JDM to eat more.

Heh. Good comparison. And I only meant that to apply to my reply, not your assertion. :)

First set of spoilers for the MSF are up on Reddit:

Poor Olivia.

We saw Negan at the dinner table in Rick’s house in the preview. What’s going on there?
Spaghetti day at the Grimes’ house! Negan and Carl made spaghetti and biscuits together. Hershel would be proud.
What's going on with Carol and Morgan?
Morgan stops back at Carol's house with some food. While Carol tries to rush him out, Richard shows up with more supplies for her. He wants to discuss the Savior situation with Carol and Morgan.
Does Daryl escape? How?
Yes. He slips out the cell with his mystery note. He follows a trail of matchsticks that leads to the exit. He has to evade some Saviors, and he sneaks inside Dwight's apartment to change clothes. He runs into Fat Joey outside and ends up killing him. Daryl ends up making it outside where he sees Jesus hot-wiring a motorcycle. They both leave on bikes out the back gate Joey was guarding.
What happens with Rick and Aaron in the woods?
They finally get to the houseboat after some tense and scary moments just getting there through the maze of floating walkers. They find some items and get them back to the truck. Although we don’t see who it is other than their boots, someone starts to follow them.
Does Michonne ever get home?
Yes. She lets Isabelle go once she finds where the Sanctuary is. She returns home that evening to find Rick in the basement cell that Morgan built. She explains why she didn’t go with them. They need to fight Negan. To her surprise, Rick agrees.
Does Rosita use her bullet Eugene made her?
Yes, but she hits Lucille instead. For punishment, Negan has Arat kill someone. So Arat shoots Olivia in the face. After Eugene admits he was the bullet maker, Negan takes Eugene back with him when the Saviors leave.

Meh. People won't complain about the episode being filler, but trading one character who is in Savior captivity for another is kinda lazy. You're trading the satisfaction of Daryl escaping for Eugene now being captive, which essentially leaves the viewer feeling the same. One of the group is over there. If Eugene and Daryl were both over there, they could at least bond over the experience. Those two characters don't really interact much.

Things are dipping deeper into All Out War faster than I expected.

Looks like Spencer's being saved for the mid-season premiere instead.
Now they'll instead bitch about Olivia being the insignificant mid-season finale casualty.

Part 2 of the spoilers will be out tomorrow. So there's still hope that Spencer gets gutted.

So Olivia is dying lol? Yeah I will bitch about that too because it's really dumb since she literally just became a character.

And that sounds like a terrible episode, I don't buy it.

It falls in line with what the filming leaks had tipped off for the mid-season plot developments months ago. So I'm not questioning its legitimacy one bit.

She's been a character since the back half of season 5. I get she hasn't had a lot of screen time but still. Also Spencer is supposed to be gutted this episode and all the spoilers haven't been released yet, she might not be the only death. TSDF almost never gets spoilers wrong so this is all probably correct.

In the next half of the season I kind of want one episode to be a condensed version of Here's Negan, to kind of flesh him out as an actual human being sort of like what they did with that episode re-introducing the Governor in S4.

Than I think they are going to lose quite a few viewers than. Spencer hasn't been built up enough to be a threat at all. And I still don't think Olivia is that much of a death either.

TSDF spoilers part 2 have been posted:

Another HUGE thanks to our source!!
What's going on at the Hilltop?
Maggie and Gregory have some words with each other. He seems jealous that people at Hilltop are talking about Maggie and Sasha and how great they are. Sasha lies to Maggie about Jesus' whereabouts. Enid knows the truth and questions Sasha about her lie.
Does Rick see Negan holding Judith?
No, he does not return in time for that. He does find out that Carl went to the Sanctuary however.
What happens with Rick and Aaron after they return to ASZ?
A couple Saviors go through their haul, and then beat the holy crap out of Aaron while Rick is forced to watch.
Does Spencer get the guts to ask Negan about getting rid of Rick as the leader?
He does, and Negan initially disagrees that he has guts, until he slices Spencer’s abdomen open, finding them. This all happens during a game of pool with several onlookers.
Does Rick witness Negan gutting Spencer?
No. He is helping Aaron to his house when they hear the shot from Rosita's gun ring out. By the time Rick gets to the pool table Spencer and Olivia are both dead.
How does the episode end?
Rick and the ASZ gang go to Hilltop to talk with Maggie, and Rick admits Maggie was right from the start. Surprise! Daryl is there! Rick and Daryl hug it out and Daryl presents Rick with his Python that he retrieved from Dead Joey. Very sweet reunions all around. Rick finally has his fight back and the group is ready to push forward against Negan.
Then later on a shadowy figure hangs out at night peering at Father Gabriel standing watch at ASZ through binoculars. It shows their boots, the same ones that followed Rick and Aaron from the pond area. The figure starts off walking toward ASZ and disappears into the dark.
Bonus/Extra info(will add to when more comes):
Carl and Enid reunite and hug

That sounds pretty good. Whisperer tease at the end it sounds like, which seems unnecessary so early but whatever.

Ah sorry. That was under spoiler tags that my copy paste didn't grab. The stranger is a show-only group that Rick meets next season that live in a garbage dump. ...lol?

Also they might not be good guys either. Which would make AOW even more interesting. I'm guessing the garbage dump is maybe to hide their community from the dead with the smell.

I was just about to say the same thing. It would (I assume) work by the same logic as covering yourself in Walker guts, masking your fresh human smell with rot.

Color me interested.

Sucks that Carol and Morgan were barely in the first half of the season.
That will change in the back half as the Kingdom forces rally to Alexandria's aid. Even reluctant Carol tags along for the fun.
Of course, that won't happen until the finale... because we can't have the cavalry show up until the last second... but it's something.

She'll remain in voluntary house arrest until around Episode 14 - although she'll have a visit from Daryl in the interim.

This is so likely lol. Also I'm pretty sure everyone is going to say this will be the worst season. However than Season 8 will be the best due to AOW.

Edit: Aaron, Eric, Tobin, and Heath are the only ones left of original Alexandria...lol maybe Spencer is right.

Ya I'm sure everyone is going to love season 8 if it's mostly fighting and war. And you got some other ones who haven't appeared all that much like Francine and Bruce, but ya I would say those 4 are the main ones after this next episode.

I don't disagree, but I'm still kind of iffy on the pacing of this season. I feel like the back half of THIS season could be the beginning of AOW, and this week's MSF should have been the "BLAM BLAM" scene outside of Sanctuary.

I think the pacing has been okay for a regular tv show, except the walking dead has always had specified arcs per 1-8 and 9-16, and with this season they haven taken three separate episodes that de-tract from the main plot.
Honestly, I think it's been the best season for readers of the comics.

Well they basically are following the exact narrative from them, it has not been a good transition to screen though. Especially the Carl-Negan one.

Good episode but the way that all played out in the comics was way better. Carl missing and hitting Lucille made way more sense than Rosita fucking up like that. JDM was so good when he freaked out, though.

I follow the comics well but who is spying did I miss that in the comic ?
That's a TV-original group of people who filming spoilers have affectionately dubbed the "Garbage Pail Kids". Apparently, they'll be mock joining the crusade against the Saviors only to start taking pot shots at Team Family during the finale. There's some speculation that this is a slow build for a Whisperers unveil in Season 8 but, as of right now, hints and teases are all we're getting.

They must be pretty shabby, the boot we saw was torn to shit. I'm onboard for original groups and characters.

Nice wouldn't get my hopes up would be cool to be nick and crew from fear the walking dead

Pretty weak mid-season finale imo

The guts scene was good though

JDM was too quiet for me. But then again, that's what happens in the translation from page to screen, I suppose.

In general, it's been great to see all these scenes realized, but part of me is kind of, not bummed, but it just feels like going through the motions (i.e., this is what they did in the comics). I dunno, some scenes I've looked forward to have just felt hollow to me.

This is the first time in a long time that I thought the show was too cheesy. I mean, I could totally picture the ending as a tv version of a comic where each member of the hero team gets a panel of their face looking hopeful and then all of them united in one shot. Show has just been so grim for so long.

I thought the ending was the best thing that's happened on the show since S5.
