All PS4 Pro enhanced games (native support and boosted)

Why isn't it listed?
It was missing because I thought World of Final Fantasy was an example of a game that had been broken by improper mode switching on Pro, but it seems I was wrong. The bad look it has is part of a Pro patch. While there's an announced fix in January, I've added it as broken until that actually drops.

If you have WoFF, do you have a way to capture 4K screenshots? It seems only the 1080p mode is broken, so I'd like to add the details for the high-res version. Thanks!

Mafia III
- I'm guessing 1800p (native upscaled, definitely not using checkerboard), but very unsure about this so please check the screenshots.
Looking at your shots, I believe it's actually native 1440p. The distance of the upscale to 2160p is why the edges are so blurred (they'd likely be sharper and easier to count if it was actually 1800p).

Thank you very much for your posts! If anyone else wants to contribute, Tagg9's method is best: notes on what you see, plus screenshots. Input on VR games would be especially helpful.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III: 2160c | 60fps db vsync
What does it mean db tag in CoD game?
This is a method of v-sync called double buffering. Like all v-sync, it stops tearing of the screen when framerate isn't solid. But double buffering has a drawback, which is that if framerate doesn't stay at 60fps, it drops all the way to 30fps--even if the game would normally have been at, say, 55fps. This makes the average framerate worse.

Interesting! I haven't played Planetside 2 for quite some time now but it was a 60fps title that rarely hit 60. Is this another example of the CPU/RAM upclock benefitting an older game or has it been stealth patched? Or is it a placebo effect due to less people playing it now therefore it has less for the hardware to process?

EDIT: Just had a look about on a few forums and it seems that Planetside 2 did get a Pro patch
Yes it is a relatively new patch. Seems to load faster too. Wish it got an IQ boost at the very least. :/

As a fallen graphic designer (can no longer gain levels in this class), table view is unutterably ugly. Also, since the list is in alphabetical order I don't think search is much impacted.

meh, it kinda sorta is. 'Tomb Raider' is 'RISE of the Tomb Raider', 'Skyrim' is "the ELDER scrolls - Skyrim", "Shadow of Mordor" is "MIDDLE-EARTH - Shadow of Mordor" - like with Kinect voice commands, we gotta know the full, official name :p

right now, it's serviceable, but if you're willing to constantly update this list going forward, i feel like it should be searchable.

It's a great list, btw. Job well done.

The 4xMSAA at 1080p gives us really good image quality. Tell me where do you see any jaggies or shimmering? Also there is a tiny bit of tearing on the base PS4, where the Pro is flawless.

The Witness is fine, no fix needed. Jonathan Blow explicitly stated they tried a few other settings, but the results were not convincing, so they kept it this way.

Unlike MSAA downsampling doesn't just clean up edges.

I think some of the Pro enhancements you listed is too brief and not good enough....
The point of the chart is to provide a quick comparison of the major changes from mode to mode. Making it extremely detailed goes against the intent, which is to show quickly which games are enhanced and in what manner. For specific and exhaustive details, there are other resources on the internet (I link some in the OP).

Lastly the ones that says "Unstable 60fps" while that's not really true most of them run at near stable 60fps like 95% of the time can just drop a frame or two randomly but not noticable. Those should just be called "Near locked 60fps" or just "60fps".
"Unstable" means what it says, that the framerate doesn't stay at the target. I'm not trying to guess what users may or may not find noticeable, since that differs from person to person.

What about Abzu? Is there a reason that graphic is mostly empty? I thought that it ran more stable and the IQ was better. Probably 4 checkerboard downsampled to my 1080p TV?
I've updated it with new info from the thread. As I say in the OP, any time you see blanks that means I just don't know the answer. If you happen to own a game for which that's true, feel free to post impressions--or better yet, screenshots--in the thread. I'll update as I can.

Pardon the ignorance, but it's safe to assume that, for 1080p TV owners, the games do downsample by default, right? Unless it's specified that they don't (I.E. TLOU and TLG).
Yes, almost all games downsample on 1080p displays. There's a note in the OP saying that.

I will ask again, X-Com 2 does have a patch or not ? If it has, whats been done, if it hasn't, where is it?
It's had a very recent patch, but it appears Pro support wasn't part of it. If anyone has different info, please post!

Black Ops 3 just received a patch to fix the issues on the Pro.
Do you own a copy? If so, does anything appear different to you? The most probable change is removal of double buffering, which could make some tearing visible. It would also make framerate drops less severe, feeling more like hitches than falls.

Great thread, was wondering on quite a few of those what were the benefits for my ps4 pro on a 1080 tv. Hope to see the thread continuing being updated with all the games releasing in early 2017.

Ah, ok haven't played it on a pro yet. But good to hear that it was done with thought behind it.

Been playing for a good hour or two since and can definitely say the difference is clear - framerate seems smooth, no noticeable hitches & everything looks Infinite Warfare levels of sharp (on the MP side atleast). Anecdotally, a lot of folk on Reddit have been echoing my sentiments.

Is Final Fantasy XV on a 1080p screen better on a Pro? I'm just seeing that it gets a constant 30 FPS and no graphic upgrade unless you're playing on higher res.

Correct me if I'm reading it wrong.

Edit: I don't own a Pro yet and I'm not looking to upgrade to a 4k display until late next year.

Thanks for checking! 1440p makes a lot more sense, because performance on the base PS4 was already quite bad. I think I'm just terrible at estimating this stuff.

I'll post more screenshots if I have any other games with missing info. For anyone else who wants to do it, it can be kind of a pain. You need to take the screenshots as usual, but then copy them to a USB device. If you upload directly to Twitter or Facebook, then they are horribly compressed.

Thanks to everyone else contributing info, too!

It's slightly different than that. If you have a Pro, most of the time all graphical modes are available to you regardless of what type of TV you have. (Games for which you have no choice are specifically noted in the chart.) So even if your TV is only 1080p, you can still choose the high-resolution mode. It just gets downsampled to 1080p, which is still an increase in IQ (though not quite as good as an actual 4K display).

So for Final Fantasy XV, on Pro you can choose the high-resolution mode for best appearance but a framerate with a lot of pacing issues. Or, you can choose "light" mode for only a little graphical improvement--solid 1080p instead of dynamic 1080p which sometimes goes lower--but a very solid 30fps that's much better than the other mode, or standard PS4.

So Helldivers got a pro patch? Is it running at 4K native now?
Well, I've seen claims that it has got a patch, but not with any details. And I can't track anything down on the developer's site. I don't own the game myself to check. Unless someone who does own it posts in this thread by tomorrow, I'm going to remove the entry for lack of evidence.

No worries! Counting is really tough on games that have been upscaled or have heavy AA, or both. I'm not 100% certain about 1440p myself, but it seems more correct than 1800p so I'll stick with it for now.

Well this thread sold me on the PS4 Pro for PSVR. Personally I think people buying it for a 1080p set are a wee bit crazy though, or they have a lot more money than I do. The gains on PSVR were pretty apparent (and I wouldn't have bought Last Guardian for the regular PS4 personally) but the gains in 1080p aren't huge on any of the titles I own.

I'm sure on a 4K HDR TV it's a big improvement, just as it is for PSVR.

Helldivers
- Only played the first couple of levels previously (I think it was a PS+ title?), and quite frankly any differences are marginal. Textures and shadows in particular look really rough.
- Still a solid 60fps.
- Can't decide on a resolution. Pixel counting seems to indicate that it's actually 2160p, but the image quality is too bad for that? Also noticed a lot of shimmering, so it might be checkerboard? Or just a really bad AA solution. I'll leave this up to your discretion.
- Fairly certain there are no graphical improvements apart from resolution (and even that is questionable lol).

Of note, I've added a couple VR games to the list: Catlateral Damage and How We Soar. In addition, I've removed some games from the chart entirely. These are:

Super Stardust Ultra for regular enhancements - I assumed the Pro patch would apply to all game modes, but in fact it seems to only improve VR mode. (The entry in that list stays, and has a bit more detail now.)

The Assembly in VR
Sports Bar VR
Tumble VR - All three of these are claimed to have Pro patches in various places on the web. However, a search didn't turn up any screenshots or videos showing comparisons with standard PS4. I've seen one claim by a GAF user that Sports Bar VR had a better framerate on Pro, which is why I originally included it. But I've now seen explicit claims elsewhere on the web that it isn't improved. Until actual evidence one way or the other appears, I've removed it.

If anyone reading this thread has access to any of these games, posting screenshots, videos, or impressions could help settle the questions and improve the list. I've just seen the Helldivers data above, so I'll verify and include it in tomorrow's updates.

Thanks so much to everyone who's already helped, and also to those who will in the future!

1080p has been great for me, stuff like KF2, R&C, Skyrim, TLG are all fantastic. I don't mind waiting until next year for 4K prices to drop and hopefully I can scoop up a good OLED for a decent price by maybe early 2018. Honestly though, I would be more happy with stuff like Tomb Raider's performance mode or Firewatch's 1080p Pro mode over just an IQ boost

But yeah the huge IQ gains in VR are worth the cost of a Pro imo. It pretty much squashes all the aliasing in most games

Could be the geometric rendering method. That doesn't net nearly as good of results as checkerboarding but resolves at 2160p.

Downloading Super Stardust now.

Don't get my pro til tomorrow (finally) but should be able to check the patch notes.

It mentions Pro support, but I wasn't able to notice any difference in VR to the main game, only the VR Invasion mode thing. If they increased the res to the main game I sure as hell couldn't tell

do all games let you choose what mode? If not I think it'd be great if we could get confirmation of the games that do ^_^

Thanks for the list! This has been really helpful :D

As noted in the OP, almost all games let you choose modes. I've put notes specifically on those where high-res modes are unavailable on 1080p displays. It does seem I've forgotten about the situation where low-res modes are unavailable for 4K users. That should be very rare, but I know it occurs occasionally. I'll figure out a way to include the info in tomorrow's update.

Op is missing batman arkham asylum which along with arkham city got ps4 pro visual improvements via an update that came out on the 9th

What I thought at first, but there are also some edges with sawtooth pattern.
They might use non ordered MSAA in geometry rendering or they do not shade all samples in checkerboard.

I will ask again, X-Com 2 does have a patch or not ? If it has, whats been done, if it hasn't, where is it?

I played XCOM2 ~2 weeks ago and I'm 99% sure that Pro support is patched in. Playing on a 1080p TV, I get that ultra-clean IQ which I've grown accustomed to as of lately (on the Pro). :)

Is 4k -> 1080p downsampling by default active for FIFA 17?
Haven't checked out the game since the PRO

EDITH: ok, supposedly it downsamples. nice.

Oxenfree was patched with Pro support late last month. I don't know what they changed but the patch notes do mention a more steady framerate.

OP, Helldivers is 2160p checkerboard @ 60 FPS. You can also take a look at my thread which lists all Naive 4K games on PS4 PRO.

OP I know HDR isn't Pro exclusive, but maybe it would be nice to have a HDR column, too?
HDR is already listed on the games that support it.

Are there notes about any other improvements? Given Oxenfree's visual style I assume probably the only graphical change is higher resolution. And is the game 30 or 60fps?
