From that standpoint, Yacht Club has done an impressive job of living off Shovel Knight, which is now available on most major platforms and has managed to sell a million and a half units.

Also, a few notes from the "1 month later" blog post where they announced 180,000 copies sold: http://yachtclubgames.com/2014/08/sales-one-month/

After the Kickstarter project ended, we all discussed our sales goals. The number that most of us settled upon was….when all was said and done, 150,000 copies sold in total. That was our high point!

It’s been a crazy ride! We’re not done yet though. We’re going to keep working our hardest to keep this game loved, played, and selling like hotcakes. Our new goal is the quest to 1 million sold, to truly solidify Shovel Knight as a modern platinum classic!

Awesome, but wasn't the PS4 and X1 ver. the least sold ver. of the game?

This was the last update we had at 1.2 million:

Congrats to them! I bought the Wii U version is one of the best games I ever played on the system.

Still need to start playing the Plague Knight add-on T_T

Well deserved. Just picked it up again on the PS4. Was probably my GOTY in 2014 when I nabbed it on the 3DS (after Warlords of Draenor)

This was one of the best games of the generation so far. Its quality has nothing to do with the nostalgic-focus of the presentation.

Rather, the game is simply a masterclass in level-design. Not only is the pacing and challenge finely tuned, it manages to provide very varied gameplay from very simple mechanics. The variety and freshness of design is consistent throughout the entire game and it never holds the player's hand despite new, difficult challenges appearing on nearly every screen.

All of this while never feeling cheap or frustrating when the player dies. The controls, level design, and overall breadth of challenges makes this one of the finest platformers in the history of the genre.

I've bought it twice (Wii U and 3DS) and will likely buy it again when it has a sale for other platforms just to try out the version specific boss battles.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Deserves more tbh - they better have a Switch retail version including the Amiibo in works as well. Could benefit from the launch hype and sell some extra copies.

Awesome game from awesome devs. Shovel Knight is one of my favorites games.

Can't wait for their next game. Keep the good work YCG and I'll buy anything you'll give us <3

I actually just picked up a Wii U copy from Wal-Mart last week after owning the 3DS version since last year, and I'll be buying a second 3DS copy as a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law.

Bought physical PS4 release and loved it. Looking forward to seeing what these guys have up their sleeves next. Not played any of the DLC yet, might rebuy on Steam!

Well deserved. The game is such a delight. Bought it for Vita before going on vacation around when it came out for PlayStation platforms and having it cross buy was a huge plus.

Well deserved. I got the physical Vita version that they sold through fangamer and I had a lot of fun with what I played. Will finish it sooner rather than later.

I probably would have bought a Wii U and 3DS copy if there had been cross save, but there isn't, is there? I'll see if there's a Switch version in the future.

Good for them. Great game that deserves it's success.

I still haven't touched any of the additional content the game got...

hoping their next game is a love letter to 16-bit platformers

Well deserved, superb game. I'll declare the 3DS version my favourite one because 3D actually looks great. You know what? I'd buy a mobile port of Shovel Knight. And a Switch one.
