CDPR has posted some new positions on their website, among them:

Cultural and Linguistic Consultant

This individual will play a part in designing the cultural/linguistic aspects of the game world. They will also be called upon to provide various references and source materials/knowledge about the melting pot that is American culture (California in particular) to be used in game design, implementation and dialogue writing

Working closely with the Story, Quest and Localization teams to catch cultural misconceptions and errors.
Providing various references to the melting pot that is American culture (California in particular) to be used in game design, implementation and dialogue writing.
Deep understanding of American society and culture.

Clearly, they want the world of the Cyberpunk 2077 to be as accurate in its depiction of the American society as possible. This was one of the worries that people have expressed before - whether or not a Polish dev will be able to catch the nuance.

Cyberpunk 2077 Web Developer (Java)

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES IN A NUTSHELL

Build online backend services & features for Cyberpunk 2077 (for instance: analytics, cloud storage and computing, rankings and many more) .

Clearly the multiplayer aspect of the game has grown since they first mentioned it. This job offer is pretty self-explanatory.

In other news, CDPR's market capitalisation exceeded $1.2 billion. Their shareholders have now agreed for CDPR to buy back their own shares for $60 million and the anti-takeover poison pill has been implemented.

Java backend?

I guess they cna't be cutting edge in all spots! ;)

Nothing about that description above has real time concerns. In that aspect Java is perfectly suitable to build such an infrastructure. It also offers a larger pool of developers capable of filling such a position.

This is the one game that I've been patiently awaiting since 2012. Seriously cannot wait till we get this (in 2019 I'm sure)

Analytics and computing, by which I guess they mean some type of number crunching services, imply real time API's.

I don't know that Java can't do that though, it's been awhile since I used it for web services. Anyway, I'm mostly joking. It's an old hat when it comes to the web, probably a great stbale framework if you know it, I'm sure it's still very much viable.

Hype. Muptiple languages and the gameplay elements surrounding that sounded so cool when they talked about it years ago, but it sounded that something that wouldn't actually make it in game. Hopefully this means that it did.

My most anticipated game currently. Hopefully it'll arrive before 2020. Was the California setting already known?

It will most likely arrive in 2018. They need to release another AAA title by 2021 and Cyberpunk 2077 is the first game on their list, so yea, 3 years to get the other game done would indicate ~2018.

Yes. Night city is set between LA and SF AFAIK.
