Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

The final campfire scene has to be the best in the game. In general the ending was very well done even though the rest of the story sadly fell flat. The writing was great.

Also lol:

"YOU THINK 10 YEARS IS A LONG TIME? I HAVE LIVED IN DARKNESS FOR AGES!"

Nomura must have slipped that line in.

It's the typical anime archetype of the blind warrior. You know, the other senses are enhanced and stuff.

It's funny how both Ignis and Riku from Kingdom Hearts go blind at some point. They also share the same Japanese voice actor. Nomura totally just wanted Riku to be in this game.

I think its interesting how he's even MORE badass after 10 years of fighting blind. The dude throws his spears like its fucking nothing.

Agreed. I actually smiled when he had to ask if Ardyn was sitting on the throne. I was like "Dude, at this point you should even be able to tell which perfume he's using."

Tbf Riku was never "blind". It was some rhetoric about wanting to lie to himself to keep the darkness at bay or something weird.

Was still cool though.

Imagine how much better his cooking is.

an upgraded sense of taste and smell will do wonders for a dish!

I didn't realize until 10 mins AFTERWARDS that the batman of the empire running around in the hallways was the emperor.

He lived up to the title of being batman, since he sneaks up on you hitting a switch like a few mins before he fight in chapte 13. I actually laughed at that too.

I think my biggest takeaway from FF15 so far (maybe the future may not be so kind) is that despite its flaws there are things to love and there are things in here that very well could be used to propel FF forward.

I remember since ff13's release there was nothing anyone really said along the lines of "I wish this is in future games" or "wow I'd like to see them improve on this neat idea". It was always "but this didn't work so good" or "why the hell didn't they do that" etc.

Yet I'm playing more and more through post game and I'm still adamant that this game does things I really hope make it into future games. Prompto's photos, character banter (maybe have more kinds of repeatable dialogue though), character animation systems, and much more.

I look at FF15 as a okay final fantasy that I had and am having fun with, but that is seriously flawed. Yet despite those shortcomings I really and truely feel like it's a nessisary and good step forward. There's so much in this game that is new to FF and I would love too see it iterated on in future titles! I honestly feel like if they can capitalize on that and make a great story in the process, that a future final fantasy 16 will be a sight to see.

I just finished Chapter 13. I didn't have too many problems with it I actually enjoyed it it just drags a bit. I really, really, realllllly hope they add a significant amount of cutscenes in the update. Ravus, Idoleas, and Ardyn all need more of their backstory told. Ardyn is by far the biggest asshole in the series. He's such a good villian he just needs more exposition to be perfect. His voice actor nailed that role.

Maybe that suit is a glitch like this:
I've never seen it in any if the retailer exclusive DLC crap. It's weird that you can wear your dad's clothes and leg brace (for some reason) post game but not that.

Going between playing FFXV and then taking a break to look up info about it bothers. haha
I can't believe the entirety of this trailer is not in the game for example. And Luna didn't wear that hat.

The Ultimania's are going to come out on the 28th and god knows how much we'll learn from the Scenario one.

Really wish that Noctis hadn't died. Would love another two games in this world with the bros.

In the end, I enjoyed it. A good game that could have been a great game, but a good game nonetheless.

It's Final Fantasy. They can bring him back if they want to somehow.

"We thought it was the end when Noctis sacrificed himself and ended the Lucian line. Things got better in the beginning but now a new threat has emerged. Aranea's expeditions into ancient ruins have revealed a far greater hidden history than anyone have ever known. And even a way...to bring him back...."

I hope not.

I hated how they destroyed the ambiguity of the ending to FFX with X-2.

Noctis must remain dead. His journey (And Luna's) are a lot more powerful if they sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Bringing them back only cheapens their sacrifice, like it has happened tons of time with comic book characters or anime characters (How much does "death" mean in Dragon Ball?)

Not going to lie; my first thought was her too, but Gladio pulled that "eh, I can't let any of my bros meet her in person until someday and I never actually talk about her" shit and that is always shady as hell, so it's probably not her and it is probably a Vegas wedding.

Did no one actually listen to Talcott? XD
He clearly states in the car ride to Hammerhead that Cindy is single and that she is "married to her work."

uhm... so... idk how to say this but

Monster betting is strangely exciting and addicting... help

When I heard there was an arena/Colosseum I got super hyped ebcause I enjoyed the combat then when I found out it was just stupid monster betting I got super bummed out but then I tried it and landed somewhere in the middle. It's not as cool as a combat thing but is strangely addictive.

The arena is such a missed opportunity, they could do some amazing stuff like special late game combat scenarios with no items etc.

Really easy dev wins in the future if they ever go down that path, cos the endgame feels weirdly grindy and lacking in actual engaging challenge as it is.

Yeah, that's a new attack he gained after the timeskip right?

Because I'm pretty sure he never does that Unlimited Spear Works move before being blinded.

I didn't check to see if Gladio and Prompto got new attacks after the timeskip though. I kind of want to now for curiosity's sake.

Heh, glad I wasn't alone. I was part of the KS8000 crowd and assumed something was wrong with my set for a hot minute.

hmmm.. i'm also on that TV.. is it really the TV? it almost ruined the ending for me..

edit:

anyone managed to get carbuncle summon after the platinum demo? it never appeared in my 90+ hours of play. pretty sure it doesnt work..

Apparently Carbuncle only appears in easy mode to heal you when you're in critical condition.

Umbra is really equivalent to Fire Emblem Awakening's Deeprealm/Outrealm, where the story dictates a point of epic no turning back but videogame happened.

Man, doing the final training test is basically a superboss in and of itself. You fight all 3 comrades, but they are super high level. I think the lowest is level 88. Its not even a fight of item attrition, you have to be stategic because Ignis will start healing his team and himself, so you can't dilly dally and you need to take ignis out first. After you do that, its not as hard, but getting to the point where iggy is down is freakin hard as f.

You get the Blue Diamond Bracelet for your trouble. +80 strength iirc.

yeah "unlimited spear works" (great naming job btw :p ) is a post blind only move. He won't even do it in post game lucis.

So....Stella from versus is Luna?

If we're being completely honest, eh kinda.
Her design started from Stella and altered heavily.
Her role seems to be drastically different from what stella's used to be, but since we know so few details we can't say with 100% certainty.

Its better for the mind to think of them as 2 separate characters i guess.

So who was Regis speaking to at the end of the Omen trailer? Was it Bahamut? It kinda doesn't fit him unless he really really wanted Ardyn dead for some reason which of course wasn't explained in a good way at all if that's the case.

From what I gathered:

-Regis was talking to Bahamut.
-The death mentioned is not the Accursed (as the accursed can not die), but noctis. As his death sets all thing right.
- "You will pay for this" Refers to both the acknowledgement that Regis is not okay with this and that he knows...
- ... that for that to happen, the gods must die as well. Hence him saying "may the gods forgive me". To set things right, Everything must die: The gods, the line of lucis, everything.

That's actually why I really like the tragedy of this game is that all magic ends up dying. Daemons, the accursed ardyn, the lucis line and the ring of the lucii, The crystal, the gods, everything. Nothing magical remains after it all ends. Its weirdly beautiful in a fucked up sort of way.

So I think I'm done with the game until the DLC hits. Just got the last royal arm from costlemark and I don't think there's much else I feel like doing. I was around lvl 55 for Costlemark, and all the fights with the red giants just turned into one hit kill summons since it seems like Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio can't stay alive when fighting anything over level 35. Seriously, I don't understand how you're supposed to make them live.

You need to abuse the invincibility frames from their special attacks,

although even with that they kinda die anyway lol

Watching the old trailers, holy crap did they cut a lot of story out. The more I think about this game the more disappointed I get in the narrative department.

I honestly felt like quitting after Costlemark too. I went back the next day, just went around the scenery and decided to do something I never did before in this game, Fish.

and then I just got sucked back into it all over again.

I have no idea how you did it at level 55 though, I was 65 at that time, and I was out when I got the royal arm.
As for keeping them alive, wait mode + exploiting tech-immortality time + not worrying about keeping everyone alive, just one or 2.

No but seriously, wait mode is a damn godsend for costlemark.

Yeah, its a real shame. Its a real shame that the narrative is such a damn mess. There's a good plot and great lore in here that just couldn't shine.

Speaking of which, a friend of mine got me thinking today: There is no real lore related reason for Royal Arms to suck your HP when landing hits, is there? Would that just be an extension to the ring of the lucii sucking out the life from its wearer?
