My game LOVE is $1.07 (65% off) and has "Very Positive" overall and recent reviews, so maybe that's considered a hidden gem.

Risk of Rain is only $2.49 right now and THAT game is underrated. I've got 68 hours on PC and many more on Vita. You can also buy 3 get 1 free right now on it too.

Also I put 25 keys for LOVE in this post so that I'm not just flagrantly advertising my own shit.

Bought the LOVE. This is the kind of game i was looking for. Tight controls, addicting and AMAZING chiptunes. Great job , keep up the good work.

Edit: Any good action-platformers or Beat-em ups for like $5?

I had never even heard of this game outside of a write-up on Hardcore Gaming 101. It's an action platformer that's divided into levels but each level seems to be a small metroidvania. Apparently it was originally released in Japan episodically.

3D platformers recommendations? Unique to PC/Steam? Looking for stuff that ranges from Ty the Tasmanian Tiger to classics like Banjo-Kazooie. I have the following in my cart:

Poi
Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth
Ty: The Tasmanian Tiger (have played this back on PS2 in the good old days)

Already bought Mekazoo (and am loving it) on PS4.
Sonic generations is good and has a few decent mods
Rayman 2 and 3 are on gog.com
Tomb raider anniversary has some good platforming elements in it too

Creeper World 3. -67%, $4.94 Something between RTS and tower defense. Push back against the "creep" and take out the things generating it. There's a campaign which keeps introducing new bits of gameplay, then hundreds of extra maps on the side.

They've also recently added Anniversary Editions of the game's predecessors to Steam, but I haven't tried them yet and being pretty new they're not heavily discounted, so barely cheaper than 3 at present.

I was going to post this one. Amazing game. Kinda reminds me of total annihilation in that you have almost unlimited resources. It's very satisfying when you can push the creep back enough to finally kill the generators.

The dev's new game Particle Fleet is amazing too, and evolves the idea of an unstoppable self-replicating enemy in new interesting ways

$2.92 bundled with Oniken

Criminally under appreciated game, which in my opinion is up there with Shovel Knight regarding the quality and respect to the NES era. If you ever wanted a new classic Castlevania, look no further.

Also it's Berserk as fuck. Especially the last stage.
Thanks for this. Bought the bundle. Played two levels of Odallus. Really scratches that old skool Castlevania itch. Good stuff!

i'd like to balance the The Long Dark recommendations a little... I found the game to be riddled with inconsistent and annoying mechanics and balancing. It's basically progress bars - the game. want to open 3 drawers? 3 progress bars to wait for. Progress bars is literally how every design issue was solved in this game. Also performance is bad, once you have a lot of stuff on the floor of your camp or whatever the game chugs to a lag fest(unless things have improved recently).

The mood and graphics are really nice, and when you don't think about the above stuff the experience can be pretty immersive. Ultimately the game has been a frustrating disappointment to me, but I don't regret buying it.

This does not support Ultrawide :( I think I need to refund it. The CD mode is only 16x9! Seems like others can not get it to work either.

you must play the AS/EX mode... I allready played it on two monitors, so it works

CD is only in 16:9, forgot about that

Oh hey! - I absolutely adored your game.

Still pick it up every now and then for some frustrating relaxation. Fantastic OST too.

ah sorry I mean AC :p ...all those names...

set up your monitor in the setup screen after starting the game and it should work

Okay so the window that pops up, I select 3440 x 1440 and full screen (single)

Then I select AC (God these names) but I never see a monitor option. I have bars on the top and bottom.

those bars are normal, cause the game is in 32:9, you have too use two 16:9 monitors to have "real" full screen, thats the original arcade mode...
but its still way better on a 21:9 than a single 16:9 monitor :p

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am going to get a refund. It is too much not to have normal 21x9 single monitor support.

On that note ... Cactus is awesome!

Are there any more 21x9 SHMUPs?

Any games that are similar to Space Pirates and Zombies? I didn't like SPAZ2, so looking for a successor of sorts. Some kind of game with AI companions (I really liked being part of a giant fleet that would warp in and fuck shit up), and not a too steep difficulty curve.

I don't want to be controlling a space shooter with pin point weapons, would rather prefer options of auto-aiming lasers or missiles since my aim with a controller isn't the best. Oh and controller support would be a positive too.

Lumination

'enry 'ollins
The price on Satellite Reign is crazy. Really great game. They pitched it as a spiritual successor to Syndicate, but instead delivered a spiritual successor to Commandos except it's open world and is a little more lenient on combat then Commandos is.

You know about Shadow Tactics, right?
Wait, how is this game like Shadow Tactics? Shadow Tactics to me was a tightly designed stealth game. This looks more like a tactical RPG kind of thing. Like a real-time Shadowrun.

The House in Fata Morgana - 25% off ($18.74)
- Not really representative of VNs in general due to its uniqueness
By this, you mean it ruins the genre because there isn't another VN quite at the same level, right? :)

Here are a few excellent puzzle games. If you enjoyed The Witness, then these should be right up your alley.

Tetrobot and Co. - $2.99 (70% off)
Guide a tiny robot through the innards of bigger robots, rearranging blocks of different types as you go to create a path to the exit. A simple concept that works well thanks to lots of mechanics that are all explored in interesting ways with very little repetition.

Snakebird - $3.49 (50% off)
A colorful puzzler that plays like a turn based version of Snake. Wrap your snakebird around the level to try to eat all of the fruits and make it to the exit. Its cuteness and charm belie its high level of difficulty.

Sokobond - $2.49 (75% off)
A game about bonding atoms (no chemistry knowledge required). You simply push an atom around, trying to connect everything without getting stuck in a corner. Minimal, but satisfying.

Stephen's Sausage Roll - $23.99 (20% off)
The greatest puzzle game ever made. You just roll sausages onto grills, making sure to cook them evenly. It's clever, elegant, and extremely difficult. The price tag is steep, but if you enjoy these types of games then you won't regret it.

Dusk Golem

A 21st Century Rockefeller
Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

Loved Love! Such a nice little platformer, and the soundtrack is brilliant. I've only seen that "set your own respawn point" mechanic before, and that was in They Bleed Pixels.
Thanks again so much!

For anybody who loves 90's collectathon 3D platformers, and SPECIALLY people who love Super Mario 64 in particular, go buy Poi right now.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/401810/

These guys absolutely nailed it, I'm telling you. I've been monitoring it for a while, since this is an Early Access game (and I generally dont buy EA stuff)... visited the page and saw that they had a pretty sizable amount of content in, so I took a chance on it.

All I can say is... daaaaamn. Regret not giving the developer (Polykid) my money earlier, this will help tide me over before Yooka-Laylee hits.

The Age of Decadence - $7.49 (75% off)

The Age of Decadence is a turn-based, hardcore role-playing game set in a low magic, post-apocalyptic fantasy world. The game features a detailed skill-based character system, multiple skill-based ways to handle quests, choices & consequences, and extensive dialogue trees.

An excerpt from the article The Fanatic and His RPG:

This is my favorite RPG of 2015, and I highly recommend giving it a shot.

I'm assuming this game is unknown enough to quality for the thread, though it's fairly recognizable among RPG enthusiasts at this point.

I found Age of Decadence unnecessarily obtuse. I played as a merchant because I couldn't figure out the combat in the tutorial. Was interesting, but the game still locks a lot of progression behind stat choices that you make when you don't understand everything at hour 1.
there was one area where I could stare into the abyss of oblivion or something and died because my brain could not take it. I had to settle for a less interesting ending with the Predator-like alien.

I'd tell people to try out the combat-based game that was recently released in the same engine first. Might be more satisfying.

If you mean developed in Africa, no, the Broforce devs are based in South Africa.

Still, I can't complain about more diversity in where games come from.

When I think of the continent of Africa, South Africa has such a strong colonial history that I feel it may as well displaced in the EU. This game was produced in Francophone Cameroon, so while the country has a colonial history of its own, this is the closest "from the motherland" game that I can think of, too.

Has been on my wishlist since day one and while there's a hundred features, I also already have a massive collection of shumps and that price is wild.
