some guy leaked FFXV's story six months ago | up: newer 4chan stuff as of Dec 9th

The story is this game's biggest issue though.

Even with all the missing stuff and questions about characters and lore.... the game still did it's job for me. The story is sad and depressing as heck. I'm moreso curious about timeskip moments with interesting characters like Iris, Aranea, Cor, Cid and even Cindy.

Yeah I'm sad that stuff got cut out if the leak is indeed legit.

DLC? I'd buy it probably

It's not perfect. No FF game is tbh. Look at FFV. Simple story with a good job system. I felt FFXV's story was most important to me when it came to the 4 and their journey than the obvious plot holes and omissions.

Gameplay, soundtrack, and post game kinda out weigh their fast story no?

As someone who was only into XV for the story: No.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
So...

If this game was still directed by Nomura, this game will never come out because they kept on changing the story.

When this game changed directors, the story at least had a final vision despite still being rewritten a couple of times?

In my opinion, no. The post game in particular bored me quite quickly. Story is the main reason I enjoy this series, hence my disappointment.

Hope this isn't your lowest rated FF though. It sounds like XIII and XV are like bottom tier FFs for you. :p

I'll say it again but the story has tremendous potential. Look how big and beautiful the world is. The story suffers because of the way it is told. It isn't that it is hard to understand at all but it leaves you with so many questions at the end because characters don't do much. The supporting cast is horribly done and I can't even remember what anyone in the supporting cast did that was important besides pushing forward the plot for Noctis. That is the game's MAJOR problem. There is no development of these wonderful characters and I'm kind of left here bewildered on how the hell they are going to fix this mess with long term patches. At best it will provide a better understanding of SOME scenes but I don't expect a miracle to happen like getting access to the scrapped parts. I think it is done and dead, honestly. The story is set in stone now. We've all seen the ending and nothing will change much for us when we replay it in a year or so. You know, if we actually got this horribly told story but the sidequests had ACTUAL lore told in them I wouldn't mind the story problem so much. The problem is that there is none of the sort. This game just pushes the plot forward with cheap devices and none of the marketing for Luna was necessary for example.

Sure would be more interesting to explore an ancient ruin to learn more about Ifrit and the plague than go looking for beans and frogs... SMH.

So you weren't sad about what happened to Noctis and Luna? I mean.... I know the whole package of the story has problems but the delivery towards the end was really good, in my opinion.

The botched story doesn't do the stuff the game gets right any favors. The main reason I play the series is for the story. The post game doesn't come close to make up for the rushed 2nd half of the game.

Oddly, the 2nd half of the game was the moment I felt it was an FF game. Remember that random T-rex fight in VIII? Or that random creature on start of the pilgrimage in X? Or Necron? Or the whole second half of XII? Final fantasy is full of random stuff like that ;)

Chapter 13 reminded me of the Shinra tower, btw.

Yeah, a subquest centered on Ifrit would have been great. I want to know why he hates humans in the first place.

They have such awesome summons and the most you learn about them are small paragraphs littered here and there throughout the world.

Since this thread got bumped, I thought that there were more details out. I check-searched and the same user (OfLucii) made another thread hours ago.

http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/361987694

Because of people believing that this might have the chance to be legit, I will try to sum up what he said. These are the other two threads if anyone wants to catch up: https://boards.fireden.net/v/thread/360061246 http://archive.is/mfcKb Today he talked about Versus, Stella, more cut content and stuff.

But FFV has a better story than XV.

Original Lev fight details:

There were indoors and outdoors sections, Noctis warped around floating houses around Leviathan and inside he had to fight soldiers. Leviathan had to destroy all the houses and then Noctis proceeded to battle the Leviathan.

No summonsing were cut.

Gentiana details
Gentiana existed before I entered the team and she was present in the old game, she had medium powers like Noctis and could speak with the female protagonist too. In one of the concepts she had to hurt herself or deprive herself from senses in order to gain powers. I don't know if this was developed. No mention as to if she was still Shiva in the old game but I don't think so since her role does not match.

Ignis was always going to get blinded:

Ignis story was written like this before the re estructure for the download content happened

End Games details:

The ending section was decided when I joined the team. It was planned for Noctis to wake up and encounter every character once at a time. The open world was note explorable, there were quests that limited your movement in the map. The Lestallum map in which Noctis was supposed to meet Iris and other friend was complete, it was not the full city. The idea was to turn the open world in a dungeon in which the player had to skip from one place to another and piece what was happening as Noctis met the other characters.

Cidney & Iris end game look:

Cidney wears like motorcycle suit, it reminded me of Kill Bill, her face didn't change that much. Iris was taller and had a king guard suit.

Ending to Versus details:

I remember that and one point, a big ray of light was supposed to appear in the sky, which was the door to the other dimension, the afterlife (which was called versus and that was the meaning of the game title). A bad character (I think it was Ardyn) caused the gate to this dimension to open. The focus of the villains was to kill an angel who lived in the afterlife and took care of the ghosts. The female protagonist could talk to every character in this dimension. In the end the angel helped the characters to return to their world but Noctis was too damaged and he ended sleeping with the ghosts and the female protagonist.

Nifheliem was never going to be a city in game:

We used the same concept artworks for Gralea from the old game, it was always planned to be filled with demons as far as I know. There were concepts of how the city would have looked like before the demons but there wasn't plans of showing it.

Chapter 13 & Cidney redesign:

The team thought that part was going to be a twist and would surprise players. It was supposed to be tedious but it was thought that players would like it. Ex team mates made these comments about it.

There was a legitimate concern about feedback on female representation on the game, so Cidney was considered to be problematic. This was supposed to be "fixed" with the dark world design for her and her scenes, but they didn't make the cut.

DLC:

However, people who are still working on the team have told me that if the download content is well received, they will think about making something special for other characters. I don't know if they have changed the schedule for the download content since I left.

Stella:

The female protagonist was supposed to appear only to Noctis. She was supposed to be a ghost which visited Noctis from the afterlife. The crystal commanded Noctis to kill her when they were children. In other concepts, I recall her simply disappearing and Noctis returning to his home country without knowing if she was ever found again.

Most of the characters couldn't interact with the female character (which was one of the reasons this character couldn't work with the new narrative for the game and so, it didn't make the cut). Noctis would dream about her and take this hallucinations as reality. She appeared to guide Noctis and lead her to fulfill his duty. She was a special ghost since she died before she could fulfill her mission in life, so the angel helped her come back from the other dimension. The revelation that she had been a ghost for the entire game happened before the gate to the other dimension was opened. This character wasn't in the game when I started my work on it.

Original Intro:

The first part of the game was originally (this was still in summer last year) going to feature a children Noctis and Cor walking outside the castle to find Regis getting out of the Regalia. Regis would hold Noctis as Bahamut asked him if he was ready for what was to come. This was a very short introduction, but it didn't make the cut since the team thought it didn't make sense. A portion of the last part of the game was made into the beginning very early this year.

Dogs:

Umbra was a party member in the original Versus game, but he no longer was when I joined the team. I don't recall anything about the dogs being human ever again, but there were concepts for dogs of different fur that transformed into different people, one of the dogs was white (like Pryna) and it turned into a woman.

The angel thing sounds like something akin to Lightning's role on XIII-2

And the "Versus" world sounds also similar to Valhalla.

So maybe they reused concepts from that to make flesh out the sequels or something idk

Most important stuff, I left out some things but everything valuable is here I guess

  • The Leviathan boss fight was reworked last year because consoles couldn't handle it. Noctis was supposed to warp into floating Altissia buildings and fight soldiers while he weakened Leviathan making her destroy the buildings. Luna joined the party (he says that she was shown in the party interface).
  • There wasn't any cut summons.
  • In Versus, Gentiana had medium powers like Noctis (I assume this might be the eyes that see the light of expiring souls), she could communicate with Stella. In one of the concepts, she had to hurt herself in order to activate these powers, or lose some of her senses (which lines up with her needing to use glasses or those weird scenes in XV in which she doesn't open her eyes). He thinks that she was not supposed to be Shiva in the original script, since Gentiana could also talk with everyone and used a weapon.
  • It wasn't planned for all Tenebrae floating islands to be explorable. The cut content were just a mini dungeon, exploring Luna's house and that's it.
  • The World of Ruin content that was cut wasn't open world. After Noctis got out of Galdin Quay, the player would have to explore linear sections in which they would encounter different characters. Not all of Lestallum was supposed to be explorable.
  • Adult Iris was supposed to wear the female Kingsglaive uniform. Cidney
was Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.
would have wore a full body motorcycle suit. Character development, my friends.
  • Versus XIII plot: During the last part of the game, one of the villains (allegedly Ardyn) opened the gate to the other dimension/afterlife (which was called Versus). The villains wanted to enter Versus to kill an angel. Since Stella is a ghost, she would have been able to interact with every character in the afterlife world. After the final fight, the angel helped the protagonists come back to the living world but Noctis was too injured, so he ended up sleeping with Stella in the afterlife.
  • The "Stella was always dead" twist wouldn't have been revealed until later parts of the game. In some versions of the script, the crystal gave Noctis the focus to kill Stella when they were children; in others; Stella disappeared while Noctis was visiting Tenebrae and he didn't know for sure if she came back home after all those years. Most of the characters couldn't see Stella. Her role in the story was to guide and test Noctis. The angel helped Stella come back to the real world after being dead because she hadn't completed her focus.
  • Versus/Nomura XV had been in active development at least one year before the reboot happened.
  • Chapter 0 was different last year: The game opened with Kid Noctis walking with Cor in Insomnia and Regis arriving on the Regalia. Regis would hold Noctis in his arms while crying. Bahamut's voice would ask Regis if he was ready for the future. (This was the scene featured in Dawn trailer)
  • The Noctis+Luna logo was already done early in TabataXV development.

EDIT: Oh snap, I guess I was late lol Well, use my TL;DR version if you just want to brush upon things.

Versus and XIII-2 are both FNC, so the afterlife concept just seems to be another thing Nojima planned for the compilation.

Basically they were going to kill Etro.

Lol I know they are all FNC game, but shit all of them are about opening the gate to the higher god plane/death side with the higher gods, lol.

If "the angel" is Etro, seems like the game ended with Ardyn opening the Unseen Gate, wanting to kill the Goddess. Stella had been trying to avoid this from the afterlife, being sent by Etro to help Noctis. This was supposed to be Nojima's ultimate take on the FNC mythos, so it's normal that there are certain plot points that are similar to XIII-2 and LR. Valhalla and Versus would be equivalents, Noctis, Stella & Gentiana would be L'cie, the crystals would be the ones in charge of giving the focus to the protagonists, etc.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
If this is all legit they repurposed that original ending into the new story really well, I think. It still carries the same weight to it despite the circumstances being different.

The only thing that's really lost is Ardyn wanting to kill Etro. Now he just wants to mess with everyone. (Again, assuming this is all real)

Aside from the cut World of Ruin stuff, not much is being said that was truly better than what we got. Just the normal development of a game.

I really wonder if we will get more WoR in the 'extended' portions. Its really the only areas were more party members would make sense since everything is already killable with the four as is. Special WoR with level 150 mobs needing 5 players would really work.

Well the leaker said this on the game finished percentage:

I would say 85% but you can not say for sure since there are factors like levels that were almost finished, material that was roughly worked...

More about Ardyn:

Ardyn was supposed to get bigger, with parts of other demons. Big skinless skull, with two wings on his hip. Noctis would only have to fight with one royal weapon and the ring. The fight had multiple sections and after each one, Noctis would use the weapon to harm Ardyn and swap to the next royal arm.

I think what I'm most bummed out about is the intro and how it just throws you in the open world right away. The cut intro is more of what I wanted. Playing as noctis throughout his childhood (something similar to AC2 I guess) and the invasion being the end of the prologue is my ideal opening. You get some character development with Noctis, Regis, Cor, maybe the bros, and a bombastic opening.

Very interesting stuff, of course we'll never know if it's tru or not but interesting none the less.

One thing that popped to me after reading all that was this image:

I think it was first shown in Episode Duscae in 2015 and now it's a mural in the final game, all of it makes sense except for the figure at the top, I mean you have a representation of Noctis and his friends (even with
Ignis getting blind)
, the past kings of Lucis/Knight of the round, the Astrals and the Daemons. I guess the woman at the top would match with the Angel/Etro thing from the early story, because I really doubt that's supposed to be Luna.

It could be a better story if they did this Stella ghost think right.

And the cut parts are missed if you played the game... Leviathan and end boss could be a real deal.

Well, I think they confirmed the angel is a representation of the Oracle (Luna) but then again it also looks similar to the representation of Etro in the mural of Lightning Returns that shows Etro death along with Pulse and Lindzei.

There is still some of the FNC DNA in the XV mythos.

EDIT: Always loved how FNC subverts the nature of the crystals from benevolent and neutral to outright assholes in XIII and Type-0
