Is "Central Hyrule" the area that was shown last E3 ?

Do we know if every centimeter of this map (including very cloudy part) is explorable ?

I believe the Plateau from the E3 demo is within this circle:

I just caught that glimpse of the Deku Tree talking to Link, and he's talking as if they knew each other once.

Maybe it's the Deku Sprout from Ocarina of Time?

This Link has apparently slept for 100 years. Could he be the Hero of Time?
Deku Tree Sprout was all growed up in Wind Waker. Maybe he is old Shrub Deku elder now... I have no idea.

When Bloodborne came out, it was pretty common to see people reveling in the sense of adventure it provided. It was a pleasure just to walk around in that game. It was a pleasure to see the sights and face the unknown and uncover the mystery. Bloodborne gave a lot of people a feeling they hadn't felt for a long time. It was the feeling that, to play the game, you were actually submitting to it. The game was bigger than you. You weren't just playing to beat it, you were playing to come to wholly understand everything it contained.

I sometimes struggle with explaining what constitutes an adventure. It's not just a journey, the where you travel from one place to another. It's not just a narrative that tells you an engrossing story. The feeling of adventure, of going on one and being on one, is a rare experience. I think, the better you get at games and the older you get, the harder it is to feel that feeling again. I remember thinking A Link to the Past was an adventure. I remember even feeling like Super Mario 64 was an adventure. It was the feeling that you didn't know where the game was going, or when it would end, or what you would find or what was coming next. These games don't feel that way for me anymore. I know them too well.

I remember seeing threads here from Soulsborne players wishing modern Zelda was more like those games. I always thought this was misguided. I feel as though that was a misinterpretation of the emotion playing a game like Soulsborne conjures up.

It's the feeling of knowing you want see something, without knowing exactly what it is, but trusting it will be delivered to you if you persevere. It's the feeling that you just can't stop because you might miss something. That's the feeling Bloodborne gave me. That's the feeling Zelda used to give me.

That's the feeling this trailer gives me.

There's plenty of posts here from people saying the trailer is making them emotional. It's making them teary or making their heart beat faster. This is the Nintendo Magic I never thought I'd feel again. I thought I had outgrown it. I thought I would never be humbled by a game like Zelda again. But here I am, breathless like a ten year old, knowing that there is something out there that I need to go out and find. Breath of the Wild is going to take me somewhere. I don't know where, but I won't miss it.
Bars.

And I'll drink to this. Cheers.

Spot on!! I just know deep down this game will be a special adventure.

If this Link is the fallen Hero of Time resurrected 100 years after OoT in the Downfall Timeline, it stands to reason that the Princess Zelda of this game is the same Zelda from OoT as well.

With that in mind, this context adds another layer to her breaking down in the trailer and feeling that "all she's done was for nothing."

This would be the same woman who's been trying to stop Ganondorf since she was a child, only to end up playing right into his hands and causing the kingdom to fall into his rule. Then she tried again seven years later with Adult Link, and if this is the Downfall Timeline, ended up getting him severely wounded or killed and resulted in Ganondorf to go from being a human to a demon/"Calamity."

So, with all of that in mind, no shit she breaks down sobbing. Anyone would do that- male or female.

Regardless if this is the OoT Zelda or not, I don't think she is actually going to be kidnapped though. The E3 demo from last year indicates that she's the bright light emitting through the Calamity Ganon at the top of Hyrule Tower and has presumably been sealing him for the past century while Link recovered.

Between that, her breaking down and blaming herself for (presumably) the destruction of the land and that scene of her purifying herself at the pool (all of which could very well be flashbacks), I think Zelda has opted to sacrifice herself and her freedom by acting as the long-term seal on Ganon this whole time.

It sounds so plausible...but then I think about how the Guardians don't really fit in at all or the blue clothes and then I think this is just a new Link and Zelda. But if this is the return of the OoT duo in the defeated aftermath, that would be craaaazy.

And yeah your 2nd point sounds plausible too. The only think I really don't understand is how Zelda can sound the same 100 in the future if she's also from the past? Did she time travel or resurrect too? Shouldn't she be really old? Unless her sacred Hylia-ness keeps her young forever or something.

Oh no...this is going to get convoluted, isn't it?

!!!!!! Amaaaazzing

Yeah, the Guardians are Scary af. The Bokoblin battle was significantly more complex than the ones inside the plateau. I like that they're willing to throw like 6 to 8 enemies in one packed area right out the gate, it gives a good flavor to combat.

I don't think this is OoT Link or Zelda. Otherwise, why would everyone be calling Ganon a primal evil when they know he was (up until a hundred years ago) a man? These must be characters with no connections to the past and who are far removed from the days that Ganon was mortal - so flung in the future to the point they only know him as a recurring source of evil.

That's a very good point. However, Nintendo might be treating the Zelda lore in a manner similar to how George Miller treats the Mad Max series: It's all mythical and thus recurring ideas and inconsistencies appear throughout since it's all different takes on the "legend."

I recognize it's a stretch, but it is a possibility to consider. Could also just be Nintendo deciding not to worry about the inconsistencies as much and reimagine the OoT timeframe with the added lore that's been created in the subsequent games.

Or, as is also likely, this could just be another Link and Zelda pair who we've never met before in either the Child Timeline (after TP) or the Downfall Timeline (Between OoT and ALttP).

Maybe. I think if Zelda is still young in the present, it'll be the result of her using her latent Hylia powers to seal Ganon away this whole time. Which isn't a stretch to imagine, since we see her purifying herself at a pool like in SS and potentially see her tapping into some Hylia powers to protect Link from that Guardian in the trailer.

As awesome as it would be to see Zelda use the Legendary blade, my chips are down on her returning the sword to its pedestal after Link dies. We see her at the end of the trailer in this dress, battered and dirty in front of the Deku Tree.

Yup. My thoughts exactly.

I still go by my theory that this is a pseudo remake of Zelda 1 so it makes sense for Hyrule to be all fucked up and Ganon be this kind of immense evil that has been around for a long time.

;___;

You think
Link dies in the scene where Zelda yells "No" and there's a laser pointed directly at Link?

Man...just gimme the game now. They can't leave me like this...

He's gonna get zapped. That's all flash back drama though. Link is resurrected, as we've seen.

What I want to know is what happens to Zelda during the 100 years. She wakes Link telepathically so she's around (E3 Demo). Is she... dead? Old and wrinkled? Trapped in time?

Yes we need this game. It's been too long.

One of the best trailers I've seen in a long time, nailed it with the music and visuals. I was excited before for this now I need it!

Also those bosses they show looked amazing, the giant Ganon head engulfing Hyrule Castle was beautiful also that giant four legged boss with the glowing feet Link was running from reminded me of a the 2nd boss you fight from Shadow of the Colossus.

The music from 2:52-3:14.... just... WOW. Hair standing on the back of my neck.

The presentation last night really threw my plans for this game into turmoil but... I've gotta figure out some way to play this game.

Amazing trailer. Well done, whoever put this together from Nintendo. The pace, the editing, the music. 10/10

This past decade Nintendo did sporadically produce good trailers (e.g. Metroid Another M reveal, Kid Icarus reveal, SM3DW second trailer) but this is hands down their best one since E3 2005 Twilight Princess trailer.

The thought that the new Zelda is merely six weeks away is mind-boggling, I was confident it will be delayed to June. Kind of would have preferred it but well, I won't complain.

Maybe I missed something in the trailer (or perhaps a live stream) but does Link for sure die?

It's been heavily implied that Link died 100 years ago when Calamity Ganon first appeared since last year's E3. The demos from back then revealed that the game opens up with Link waking in a room called the Shrine of Resurrection.

So no, we don't know for sure yet, but it's likely that Link did indeed bite the dust in the past and is now back from the dead.

Ok - looks like Ganon turns the Guardians against the kingdom and they start demolishing everything. Link is protecting Zelda, making an embattled retreat/escape from the city ("Save my daughter"). Zelda obviously breaking down at the sight of her kingdom being demolished and the defenses she helped put together being used against them ("All I've worked for..."). Link is fighting the onslaught and is killed while protecting Zelda (battered Link w/ damaged Master Sword), allowing her to escape and/or set up the barrier.

Dirty clothes Zelda is from cutscenes of the past during the escape. Zelda in blue tunic is her in the present.

That's my guess. I've been wrong just about every time so far, but I have a good feeling this time!

I can work with this plot. Will be annoyed if zelda dies in the past and is only there for spiritual support in the present. Don't see how this can be any link from any past game but would love oot link but might actually be skyward sword. Plan to get this in may so hopefully i dodge spoilers and switch is more widely availaible by then.

I'm down with this. If this is the case, how come she didn't age?

Looks fantastic.
Id be amazed if this game actually followed through on some of the speculation that it will in someway directly address the zelda timeline.
