that list isn't making anyone feel better. it's all about the games. shit looks barren, homie.
Yeah, still annoying if the tablet is docked and in an inaccessible position. The included grip doesn't charge with USB-C, and despite the long battery life of the joy-cons, you always have to slide them back onto the tablet if you don't have the charging grip.

Aside from screen rez and internal storage, nope and they probably never will. All we have to go on are some leaked clock speeds (1020MHz CPU, 768MHz docked, 307.2MHz undocked GPU). Come early March, there will be people de-lidding the Tegra chip inside to see actual CPU core count and CUDA core count of the GPU to match those clock-speeds up to Floating Point performance.

So, assuming it's $399CDN, then getting the console and one game would cost me over $530 after taxes? With no accessories?
I'll just plant one of my money trees, I guess. That's the problem with launch prices. $299 looks lovely for me. But then knowing it'll be $399 up here, you get no games, no accessories, and you're now stuck spending over half a grand at launch. This is why we wait.

Expensive hardware, but I could have lived with the price of the machine itself, and if that had been the only factor I would have still committed to it. But the peripherals make me think hell no. Way overpriced when you factor in every likely cost. My heart honestly sank near the start of the conference when the online plan was announced, and was in the back of my mind for the rest of the show. And I was really hoping for more software announcements in general, and it did not inspire confidence as a long term prospect. My personal opinion is that from the information that has been currently provided, this won't represent good value for money, for me.

It's a light pipe. Basically there are clear plastic guides that direct the light from the joycons to the front of the grip.

They seem to be porting every hit Wii U game and it's a completely different architecture. Also, no disc drive.

i imagine that would be the case, but i hated having to dock my Wiiu pad when its low battery, i got a cable that let me charge and play at the same time, but it seems like for Switch you gotta get that charge pad thing to do that.

According to it, it's the 4th cheapest launch of a console when adjusted for inflation.
I mean..that's cool and all, but it's not competing with launch year PS4 or XB1 prices. It's competing with two consoles that are more powerful, have more games, at the same or cheaper price-point and in general a lot more well thought out features (from what I've been reading about the the device that is).
So it being the 4 cheapest launch after inflation is kinda...pointless? Dunno, don't think that helps with anything. That said the games (the exclusives in particular) will be it's saving grace first and foremost.
Also kinda hoping ARMS + 1,2 Switch help it reache a broader audience like Wii Sports did back in the day. Demo stations with those two games may help a lot (or not at all, of course).

I went to bed last night planning on preordering during my lunch today. When I woke and saw £280 for it, I wasn't disappointed but the lauch lineup gave me pause for thought.
At that stage I was still onboard but when I saw the price of pro controllers and joycons, I was shocked. I have 5 kids and we love playing games like Mario 3D World and Mario Kart together. With these prices, those experiences are too expensive for our needs.
Then there's the online subscription, it's a poor offering. Especially considering the games they'll offer up are ones I've bought on the Wii and Wii U.
I'm gutted after being so hyped for the Switch. I'll still get it eventually - Nintendo games are so special - but this will be the first Nintendo Console since the SNES I wont be getting day one (handhelds included).

so stupid question, but the console has speakers built in, right? I figure it has to for tabletop mode, especially with multiplayer. I just don't see them labeled on anything.

Keep in mind each set of joy cons can be two controllers. For Mario and MK it's probably ok but not ideal to use each side as an individual controller.

Comparing launch prices are meaningless. Wiiu got it's ass beat by the lower price of PS3/360 on their catelog.

What I'm saying is expecting $250 for a console at launch and then being shocked when it's $300, when all other consoles out now launched at the $400 mark when they came out, seems silly. Only talking about the BASE consoles, no bundles/accessories.

Surely, unless we know the cost of components and manufacture, nobody has any reason to determine whether something is expensive or not other than what we personally feel is a reasonable price.
Tons of people are happy to pay north of 600 bucks for a phone that is essentially the same as the one they paid 600 bucks for 2 years ago, with a few tweaks.
Basically the market will decide if the Switch is too expensive or not. If it doesn't sell, there'll be a price cut at some point.
I didn't see any when they presented the hardware during the Treehouse stream.

Obviously people are putting Nintendo on a different level so they have certain expectations. Since I'm expecting quality Nintendo exclusives and considering we're getting a home and portable console in one, I think $300 is reasonable. As for pack ins and accessories, I agree the prices are crazy.

Yep. Price is just $50 bucks more, and battery life is better than og 3ds. But that online fee sucks. Nintendo was my safe haven for online console.
And neither is $70 more for a normal controller and having to buy SD cards in order to store games. You factor all of that in and it is more expensive than a PS4 Pro.
