I actually dug Zelda's VO from the little I heard last night. I was quite surprised to even hear VO; I must have misheard at E3 that it was still 100% text based.

I don't know how you can look at art like this and think she isn't playable, at least to some extent:
Zelda TP art.

my copy didn't have any playable zelda swashbuckling action

Zelda's wearing a rather equestrian outfit, basically aristocratic sportswear, she'll definitely be playing a more active role, especially with her Shiekah Slate. We can kind of see that in the trailer in her attempts to stop Calamity Ganon.

Just as she was a magic-oriented user in the previous games, in this game she'll probably be more focused on runes. It's possible she'll be playable via co-op or a story element considering this, though don't hold your breath.

The English dub is so awful. Especially the first voice that sounds like a 12 year old boy trying to imitate the voice of an elderly woman. I hope the game has dual audio, so I can play it in Japanese with subtitles, the same way I watch Ghibli movies. ^^

Man Zelda crying in Jap vs Eng . What a difference it is. Who voices Zelda ,she is terrible in this

Yeah English Zelda does not sound great. I am surprised the the german voice is the best besides japanese. Usually German voice acting is bad in comparison to Japanese or English.

Oh and I agree with the post above mine, that in English the old lady sounds horrible.

Japanese crying Zelda is some atrocious over the top anime VO. Zelda is way better in English than Japanese. The rest though, ugh, Japanese sounds better.

So are the giant "colossi" (the flying bird ship, the crawler on death mountain, the desert camel) meant to be bosses... or like, do you actually go inside them, and they ARE the dungeons.

God damn it, why doesn't anyone go inside the fucking stables?

I've seen 5 gameplay videos now and no one goes in, jeez.

That scene with Zelda crying got me. Has Zelda ever cried in a game before? Trying to recall and I'm not coming up with anything.

What a great trailer.

Just played these back to back and jesus this is like some prepubescent squealing vs. the english (normal) sobbing. Why do people prefer this? It makes their pants tight?

Yeah I really can't stand that high pitched squealing voices Japanese use for a lot of young females.

They might be Shiekah mega-structures - basically huge guardians - that Ganon corrupted, so they might actually be both the bosses and the dungeons.

I hope they're huge-ass fucking dungeons, the size of two-three 'normal' ones. I hope there are also other mini-dungeons, besides the shrines.

So, if I missed out on getting the CE this morning, is this it?

I also find it strange that gamestop.ca/ebgames.ca was the only Canadian retailer selling it. Has it been announced that this game was exclusive to Gamestop?

you are not the only one :)

As a lifelong Zelda fan, I haven't felt goosebumps from a Zelda trailer since perhaps the Twilight Princess reveal, but that was mostly from the fan reaction.

This is the first time since probably Ocarina of Time that my spirit has just soared anticipating a new Zelda game.

That would be a really cool idea. Maybe first you kill these huge creatures and then their carcass becomes the dungeon. I wouldn't bet on it though.

I actually think we see the giant bosses and their 'dungeon' insides in the trailer - the gigantic legs, that guardian on death mountain, and those large rooms with the huge gears inside all indicate this might be the case.

Everything sounds right...except the last part. I think she was wearing blue before the white Hylia outfit.

I'm not so sure I know how she "exists" in the present. :C

Honestly with the limited glimpses of information we have, any combination of clothes and time could work. Dirty clothes = past/future, tunic = future/past. There's also technically the scenes that seem to show Zelda in a clean version of her dirty clothes that could be from the past or future.

It's up to whatever Nintendo decided to do - short battle/defeat and barrier setup in the past, with most scenes of her and Link in the future, or a lengthier showing of them in the past.

Nintendo could go heavy on the tragic angle and go on about how Ganon, Link, and Zelda are cursed to eternally battle - where even the death of any one or more of them (typically Ganon, but in this case likely Link and maybe even Zelda) does not keep them from coming back to battle again. I very much doubt Nintendo would emphasize something like that, but we just don't have the details yet.

Skyward Sword Zelda was a fellow knight apprentice before she got storyline'd.

Agreed, I think English Zelda sounds great, Japanese voice acting can be so melodramatic at times. I think she sounds perfectly normal here. Obviously we will need to hear the final version and the cutscene in context to really judge the quality though.

It looks like there are people on each giant guardian, as if they command them or something.
The dragon-like creature seems to be Ganon and the two characters next to him must be Link and Zelda.

I cannot agree more with this statement.

It's usually a single tear. And it happens like twice in Skyward Sword and that's it.

Ah, so it was only in Skyward Sword?

I actually noticed a lot of streamers (and myself) getting very emotional at that scene.

It's a combination of a lot of stuff that I guess does this, but for me I think the biggest thing is the animations, in particular the facial animations in that scene. They're fantastic. Even just taking some stills from that short part (I'm bad at making GIFs, lol)...

...just look how well this art and these designs are realized here. I'm not saying it's technically accomplished like a The Last of Us or an Uncharted 4, but I think it's impressive the level of nuance they get from character designs with so deliberately few facial features. Those emotions look very genuine for a video game with this kind of cartoon style. It's very easy to forget what a leap some of this stuff is over any other Nintendo-game to date.

Also, it's just a beautifully put together shot in general. How the camera is positioned, the forest setting behind the soft depth-of-field, the rain. Music helps too. The only thing I didn't like, like a few others here, was the Japanese VO; I think the slightly more subdued English VO worked much better there.

I agree, I refused to watch it in Japanese again, and vastly prefer the English version. Zelda went from a squealing annoying person to something far more subdued and acceptable sounding.

Really, really impressive trailer. I'm not 100% on Zelda's character design, but everything else is top notch. The music towards the end is the GOAT. There's something in my eyes.

This game has potential to be the best game of all time. It appears to have everything going for it.

Lets hope it is executed as well as what has been shown all the way through.

Yeah how in the world do people like the JPN VA better? The scene with her crying did not seem like one for her to be so dramatic. The english one simply sounded like someone who was hurting.

It's why I wondered if an earlier rumour stated that there would only be 4 (main?) dungeons, because it would make sense.

The bottom thing on the right reminded me of this in the trailer

Oh and I agree with the post above mine, that in English the old lady sounds horrible.

The castillian spanish one is top tier voice acting with usual voice actors of Ghibli movies, and the French and Italian ones dont seem to be too shaby either.

I think Europe got the good end of the stick, in fact NoE, when they try, they do pretty well. The only bad dub Nintendo has done in spanish is the fucking narrator of Super Smash Bors Brawl and WiiU (he is not even a professionl voice actor and they hired him twice, even after the huge criticism he got in brawl).
Star Fox was another really good one in spanish, same with Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, in fact, I think is superior to the american versions by a LOT.

Actually, I think you might be onto something. In the trailer, you see a shot of the massive thing on Death Mountain, and then the next shot is of Link running through a dungeon like area of Sheikah design, but instead of the typical blue/orange or pink/red glow it's completely brown and dead.

I'm totally onboard with this theory.

That's what's I believe anyway, do we climb them and fight them... less likely, I think it's more like we find a way to board them and then quell the infection within after an awesome dungeon.

Which looks like a crumbled version of the image in the bottom right of the parchment. Looks big enough to be a dungeon too.

Zelda's animations have been outstanding since Skyward Sword really. the facial and body animations are so well designed. I'm not surprised that BOTW is following suit.

That scene, though, is something else.

I agree that those super bosses are probably dungeons.
I also imagine that Hyrule Castle is both the final dungeon and the final boss.

I think it's sort of like with Majoras Mask but these are 4 guardians created by the shiekah to stop full power ganon.

Thats my small theory atleast.
