And I was hoping they'd change their DLC approach with this one. Seems like season pass for 4 characters that will split the community again is a lock.

Because why would they just sell this new armor crap as microtransactions and make new characters free or earnable with in-game currency? Better keep milking people at the cost of destroying the online.

Fucking Darkseid as pre-order DLC...

Fuck you WB/Netherrealm.

Personally I'm more appalled by games like SFV that release at a $60 without even having basic features available at launch as opposed to a $5 DLC character

I'm actually more appalled that content that is already made is been cut from a game and sold as DLC screwing over non-day 1/pre-order buyers.

OP did you take this photo? Checked the PS Store on both web and console, and it doesn't say anything. Wondering if you might have just found the photo or if it was quickly removed.

This. Withholding content is not cool.
Giving "early access" to the content is fine, but making people buy it day one or buy it later isn't cool.

Battlefront did it right with their free Expansion. One week early if you preordered.

If you had the MKX Season Pass you got access to the DLC characters about a week before they went up on the store IIRC.

Darkseid will probably be in all Day One copies like Goro was.

I believe it came from Max's Twitter, and he's the one who found it. While I personally have no dog in the fight as I'm preordering the game anyway, I do understand why people would be upset about this. I also have to ask how many people are waiting for reviews to drop before purchasing? I think most fighting game, and more specifically NRS fans are going to want the game on day one so this isn't a huge issue for them but rather a detriment for those who are casual players and jump in late when the price is cheaper.

I believe Ra's will be in the game as a plot device to bring back dead characters. If he's playable, I suspect a Kenshi-like move set.

This is a common reaction to day-one DLC, but I don't think the upper management just says make a bunch of characters and we'll decide who to cut out later as much as people think. I think more planning goes into the content production based on how it will be packaged and sold.

It is very likely production is only greenlighted on day-one DLC because it will be sold as DLC. Not that this makes it feel better to a consumer, but I don't think "cut content" or "already made" is accurate, as that implies we would have gotten him otherwise, which is not guaranteed.

I am wondering this as well. I just checked the PS4 Store page and it did not mention him. Maybe it'll update later. I want to get it on PS4 so he better show up as a pre-order item to save me that $5

This isn't a race to the bottom and SFV is irrelivent here.

Netherrealms doesn't NEED to hold characters hostage as a preorder bonus their last 3 fighting games have pretty much annihilated the competition in sales across the board.

It's really stupid they're continuing this practice if people don't buy the fucking game day 1.

Don't know why you were expecting any different, they did the same thing with Goro, sold a fuck ton of copies anyway. Why would they not do it again if no significant amount of their audience punished them for it?

Also I have to say, for everyone that is bothered by this read further. I doubt the review embargo will be held until launch so do what I do: if you really want the game, know enough to know it will be worth your purchase via reviews or previews, and care about getting Darkseid then you can preorder the game as late as a day before launch. I only preorder my games through best buy as close to release as possible in case it turns out to be shit. Free Darkseid.

This is most likely WB Games' doing, not NRS.

Either way, I'm curious to see how Darkseid plays.
