Can't wait for the part where the hero and the redhead girl accidentally see each other naked and then realize they have feelings for each other.

Has waifu face petting been confirmed yet?

Honestly, until this stops happening, I've lost faith in Japanese game plots being as good as they can be.
How this happens without fail in almost everything ever is absolutely baffling as far as humour goes. Do even otakus actually like this????

I'm sorry, but that sort of comment (it's too anime, its anime as fuck) is dumb and annoys me.

It's all anime inspired... which has a wide variety of styles. If you don't like that particular style, then fine, just say that. But it isn't any more anime inspired than the first Xenoblade, or the Xenosaga games, or Xenogears, or any other JRPG.

And calling this garbage tier is ridiculous, the models looks far better than those in the first Xenoblade.

I meant the art style of the characters, the character design, not the models. There is a difference here. The previous two Xenoblade games had awful models, but their character design and art direction weren't that bad, aside from Lyn, she's bad regardless. I admit it is a rather premature to label this game as having bad character art and design at this point, but as a first impression? Baaaaaaaad.

And I just notice the little exposed ass cheek on the female lead design pointed out by others. Real mature guys.

I know I'm gonna love this game for the world, music, gameplay and how the characters come together. This weaboo stuff or whatever you call it I don't care about.

Resident Evil 7, Nioh and Yakuza 0 are coming shortly. I.e. there's still hope for this country, lol (and hopefully at least the former two become decent enough successes to give certain signals to developers).

I don't understand comments like this. Like I get being disappointed about the artstyle, I am as well, but to say that the series isn't for you after 1 trailer of a game still in development? I don't even know how you could possibly come to that conclusion just from this trailer unless all you cared about in the previous games was the artstyle (which were also ugly as well).
Dare I say teaser, with most stuff not appearing (monsters, NPC), the strict minimum to just to say, "the initial series is still there".
People like to complain, nothing new.

I just want these bath stuff as few as possible. I don't want it to get to Sen level.
That's the only part that should concern people really.

You know what's more baffling. The original Xeno game in Xenogears had top tier story/plot of not just JRPG's but video games in general. People thought Xenoblade had a good story, while I thought it was okay at best, though I didn't bother to beat the game, stopped like halfway through so maybe I'm wrong. Xenoblade X generally accepted to be worse than Xenoblade in the story.

It's OK to be wrong. There are so many great tracks in the original, and I hate everything I got far enough to hear in X (admittedly, not very far), we'll never agree on this.

There is a difference in disagreeing and saying someone is wrong for having a opinion over something very subjective, you can accept that people like something you don't without trashing their opinion.

On the other hand, I find the character designs and expressions art pretty cute, I wonder if they chose Masatsugu Saito based on his experience in working and designing anime CGI characters and mechanical models from Expelled from Paradise, which if done well can look pretty good.

At least this chara-designer is good at drawing mechs, so we should be fine on that side !

I tweeted Adam Howden saying that I was wondering if he has any involvement in Xenoblade 2, he responded with "so am I". Adam was the voice of Shulk, knew it was a long shot but thought I would ask nonetheless.

Localisation probably hasn't started even if Shulk makes an appearance.

I'm not sure what the baffling part here is, that the stories might be getting worse?

Damn. I hope British VA returns. I'm really worried.

Having seen more art and all, this... Does look way more anime than the first one, huh. This game had my hyped as hell but now I'm worried.

Yes the first one had a couple of shitty anime tropes, but somehow the narrative wasn't affected much by it if that makes sense. This looks like it's doubling down on it, I mean, there's promotional art with that girl's exposed ass already, Jesus.

Ta ba da dam dam dam dam...still playing Chronicles X on the Wii...its a long one lol.

Thanks for the new thread, not getting a Switch at launch and I doubt this will be out in 2017 so I have time to get a Switch later on.

It could come out March 2018 and that would still be in Nintendo's 2017 fiscal year.

Maybe it'll get delayed beyond that point but they have a solid year to work on it.

Don't worry - I'm sure Nintendo will cover that up in the West. :p

Everyone's talking about the guy's pants, while I can't get over the girl's visible butt crack...

Xenoblade always had some fanservice
, but I hope it's a smidge less blatant this time around... But given the character designer's prior work, I'm doubting that.

True, but the default outfits were all relatively normal. Here, we already have her back almost completely exposed... personally I don't mind it, but between this and elements like the bath scene I suppose there will be many, many things that won't sit well with some people.

This is the game that will sell me a Switch.

My only grip is the main character design, the rest looks very good. And being this a Xenoblade game, my problem with his design will sure be solved with a new armor set, so its alright.

No, it really wasnt. Shitty techno rock hop

Overall, it actually was a good soundtrack. The problem was the songs that played most often were generally not good. That, combined with living in the shadow of the soundtrack of the original that was simply glorious in almost all aspects, really made it seem during gameplay to be an awful soundtrack.I mean, what songs do you actually remember hating other than NLA day/night, normal battle ground/Skell, and possibly the flight theme?

I would say "Character designs at least translates better into 3D than XBX" but realised it was just Lin who looked creepy af.
But yeah, miss Xenoblade 1's designer :'(

It was effected a lot by it. Much of the character development is typical anime naval gazing "I must protect those I love/friends give me power", story is avenging a friend killed by opposing empire, mysterious man of ambiguous siding
that ends up being an extremely important entity
,
love interest gets turned into an android
, so on so fourth.

But the pacing was great and characters were kept grounded enough, perhaps. Melia in particular is unbelievably iron willed, and felt super bad for her.

I get what you mean regarding XB2's trailer literally having all the dialogue be every anime romance ever though. Yikes.

It appears to be so and I don't like that. The first Xenoblade is one of the best jrpgs in recent years and it didn't have to go full anime...

All Xeno games go full anime. For the record I do prefer the artstyles/art direction for XC and XCX rather than it seems we are getting now.

Wish we could discuss other things other than the character designs. Xenoblade 2 discussion is so predictable right now.

????

Xenoblade Chronicles and X were both totally anime games. X even more, but let us not hide the anime tropes in Xenoblade Chronicles and everything else.

The new style doesn't look like lifeless puppets finally.

For obvious tropes:

Yeah let us ignore that half of the soundtrack is rather chill than techno/rock.

A new Xenoblade 2 thread I see?
Let me whine more about the character design.

Hahaha no kidding. God, I really hope we get a sequel out of spite for those who hate Xenoblade Chronicles X because I freaking love that game too. The meltdowns would be glorious. Honestly, I like everything about each Xenoblade game that we're getting. No hate from me.

I agree. The voice acting, for example. Let's hope it's in the capable hands of the people who worked on X, they did such a great job.

What? Please, god no. Give it to NoE/Side UK. A stock American anime VA will kill any hope of this game having any charm of the original.

dunno why this game looks very Dreamcast RPG era to me I love it, it reminds me of Grandia 2, I'm glad they went back to a more story focused game

Xenoblade has always been anime as fuck, but at least the artstyle is tolerable this time. Yeah, it's "annnimmmeeee" as hell, but I guess I'm used to it after playing Tales games for years. Some of the character designs in XCX were painful to look at.

I'm about 50 hours into the other two Xenoblade games, and have yet to beat either, but I really like the first 50 hours of each game. This game looks great already, and the portable nature of the Switch with this game is perfect.

Now, let's hope they can make the text a bit more readable than XCX.

It's not that I don't like the anime aesthetic, but I don't like the look of the characters looking like 10 year olds :/

I would accept it if they look as mature as the characters in Xenoblade or Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

I wish people would say what they mean instead of just calling things "anime" or "weeaboo". No anime isn't just the stuff you don't like.

This kinda counter argument really annoys me. Look, the first Xenoblade was anime-inspired, but so was Cowboy Bebop, or Ghost in the Shell, or Princess Mononoke. There's good anime design, and bad anime design, and those in between. Xenoblade was somewhere in between to good, Xenoblade 2's are flat out garbage tier.

Okay garbage may be too harsh, I've seen much worse from NIS and Compile Hearts, but it's still really incredibly generic and coming from a first party production, it just is bad.

What he's saying is fact. Xenoblade 2's cahracters anime-inspired, just like those of the first one.

What you're saying is just your opinion.

Xenogears is my favorite JRPG of all time. It's so depressing that 18 years later, no other game has even attempted to tell a story that huge and epic. I was naive to think that, with the exponentially improving technology, JRPGs were primed to take storytelling to the next level.

Guys, you know having a dumb bath scene doesn't mean the entire thing will be harem anime style garbage right?

I don't have problems with the more generic jrpg style for the characters (I'm assuming an artstyle change was mandated after someone saw how successful FE has gotten when it went "modern anime") but dear god I hope we can still change their clothing, because those pants look really stupid.

Also in the trailer the framerate looks really rough, I hope they smooth it out a bit by the time it releases.
